    wow , got mine ( non turbo version ) up to 70mph ( 114mph ) and decided to keep highway speed to 60mph and live another day. this video is more impressive than anyone driving a lambo.

      Sorry for the late reply! In this video the tires are 30"x9.5" and are on Jeep XJ 10-hole 15x7 wheels, not sure of offset. It has a 2" spacer lift to fit them. Right now I've switched to a 225/75r15 tire on the stock wheels. They don't look as good but they rub less. Both require a spacer. I'm unsure of the spacer size but I would guess about a half inch

    I had a 1980 Subaru GL and it really wasn't much faster than this, lol. I resorted to using hi test when in aggressive traffic. It helped only a little. In the mountains on the interstate I had to go to 3rd gear and top speed was about 48mph up hill. The 4 speed got me about 32 mpg. It would up anything in 1st gear.

    I'm guessing smaller diameter street tires compared to large AT/MT tires would help. Can you do another test using maybe some common road or HT tires? Theoretically, it should be lighter, grips more on the road, and must be less work for the engine

    • @okeiautomotive4548
      @okeiautomotive4548  2 года назад +1

      I've actually since switched the car back to a smaller 205/75r15 all season and can tell you my top speed is significantly lower now. The smaller tire translates to much higher RPMs at the same speed

    I would like to know how sound insulation and Camry engine swap would change how this car drives

    • @okeiautomotive4548
      @okeiautomotive4548  Год назад +1

      That's a really interesting idea, to be honest I've been impressed with the factory sound insulation, most of the noise comes from the engine working so hard at higher speeds. Something like a Camry 2.4 would be an insane jump in power, it would probably be a great driving experience. It would be a tight fit though, it's a really small engine bay. Honestly a V6 might fit better than a bigger 4 cylinder, there's a good bit of room on the sides of the engine but it couldn't be much longer

    • @drifter.11
      @drifter.11 Год назад +1

      @@okeiautomotive4548 oh I see and I think you are right, if the engine could achieve highway speeds at 3000 rpm then there would probably be no need to upgrade the sound insulation. But If you need motivation to do it then look up "Smart Car with Hayabusa Turbo Engine" LOL

    but is the noise and rolling feeling cause of the lift and tires tho

    • @okeiautomotive4548
      @okeiautomotive4548  2 месяца назад

      So I went back to smaller road tread tires for a bit. The larger tires contributed a lot to the noise, but it actually felt less stable on smaller tires. The wider track of the big tires allowed a lot of body roll but didn't feel as much like the car was gonna tip over
