- Taping Techniques for Thumb and Wrist Support in Hypermobile Individuals
In this video, we cover a practical guide to taping the thumb and wrist, especially for those with hypermobility. If you experience discomfort, cramping, or issues with the CMC joint while performing manual tasks like writing, this video will walk you through an easy taping technique to support your joints.
We explain why thumb positioning is crucial to prevent tissue strain, and how to tape to avoid the common "dropped thumb" issue that often leads to pain. This taping method not only supports your thumb and wrist but also helps with overall joint stability during activities.
Watch to learn how you can reduce pain and improve wrist and thumb function with this simple and effective taping technique!

Omg thank you! I havs Ehlers-danlos syndrome and can never find something like this related to hypermobility!
I’ve been taping my wrists for years and this video and your technique has helped me SO much. This method provides me so much more relief with the most mobility than I’ve ever experienced. Thank you SO MUCH
I watched another thumb/wrist taping video before this one and I could instantly see the position would hurt me more, but this method gave me instant relief. Perfect for hEDS. Thank you.
Omg thank you, I ordered a brace and they ran out so they sent tape. It's such a difference, and the information explained so much
I recently was diagnosed with hEDS, and this has been so helpful! My thumb has bothered me on and off for years, and this is a perfect, accessible way to actually deal with it that doesn't get in my way like a thick brace might--which is fine for some things but much more frustrating when dealing with fine motor skills or delicate objects. Thanks so much for this video!
I cried after I got the tape on correctly. There was an immediate flood of relief that made me so emotional that I actually cried. Thank you so much, man. My hands/wrists are identical to hers so the explanation was absolutely perfect!
Thank you so much, got injured playing volleyball and it actually made me realize that i don't have "normal thumbs"!
Thanks, it's gonna help me a lot
I love all of your videos on taping for hyper mobility! I am a massage therapist who is also living with hyper mobility. These have been helpful for myself, and once I complete the KT Tape course I need, I will be able to help my hyper mobile clients! I have also added your course to my list of courses I need to take!
Thank you so much for this! For me, a brace was way too chunky! I couldn’t do anything in it and if anything it exhausted my wrist. This video gave me my hands back. Thank you so much and keep up the great work
Same here! After the initial dislocation healed, the aluminium splint brace became way too much, and I only ended up hurting my hand more. Excited to try this tomorrow when my tape comes in
Wow thank you so much. Sometimes it's hard to book an appointment with my physical therapist and she was trying to figure out how to tape me last time. It did help but she didn't do my thumb and I tried this out myself and it does feel much more stable! I'm going to show this video to her
This thumb pain has been getting more problematic with time (over the 3-4 years I've had it). It's gotten to the point where I can barely grip anything because my CMC feels so weak and wants to 'collapse'.
This year on the same hand I was having new pains on my lateral wrist / distal ulna. Noticed the distal ulna is elevated, like it's not secure in the joint anymore. Worst joint pain I've ever experienced.. to reduce it I've been using so much tension with KT tape (TFCC taping technique) that it cuts off circulation to my hand lol. But I still do it for a few minutes here and there just to get some relief.
I've got EDS so I really appreciate your vid!
My thumb also drops so I’ll be trying this but I’m curious if you also have a video demonstrating how to tape for ulnar wrist pain or laxity. Thank you!
hEDS, my wrists and thumbs thank you from the bottom of my heart, i nownhave to figure out how to tape my fingers 😂
Do you have one for pain from hyper-extending the pinky? I tend to do this when I'm using my hands a lot e.g. typing or crocheting.
quite more ℹ️ than a few i have come across, i call mine “gamer’s thumb.” it was one of those tile race games? tap the piano tile on beat or lose, imagine rush e multiplied by eminem’s fastest lyrical combo. that was my undoing lol
can you make for the other fingers? :P
Thanku so much
Incredible!!!!!!❤
