John, this technique will be added to what I have been doing the past two years, it’s interesting ever time I watch a new video...how one thing I had not seen before may help...currently I have no cartridge on the trapezium as it was injured during a fall several years ago...use Volteran Gel on a daily basis..and wrap my thumb for Golf or other strenuous activities....I find using rubbing alcohol before applying the Tape helps with the adhesion of the tape to the skin...Appreciate your techniques with regard to cutting a triangle out for the thumb and running the tape up the arm...be well and thanks again..
I'm trying this out. I'm avoiding surgery at all costs. I practise karate and make fists all the time. I wonder if surgery would prevent me from punching ever again?
I’ve ordered one called Patch Strap. It’s made with organic bamboo and mineral based adhesive. I’m really hopeful it will work for me after having a bad reaction to KT tape.
I finally got it done and it does feel better. Took me forever to figure out because it was a left hand facing me. Might have been better if the person sat across from you and everything was filmed from behind her back so you could demonstrate on the hand that way. Probably would have made it quicker and easier for me.
All this does is prolong what you end up having to do, and that is surgery! I suffered for three years with shots, etc. I had the surgery two weeks ago. I'm in the recovery stage. I look forward to being pain free.
@@JohnGibbons did you read the comment? She said it does not feel stable...the wrist yes NOT the thumb!!! So does it still helps if the wrong joint feels stable?
What I don't like about this technic is the pressure it puts directly on the locus of pain in basal joint OA. How can you modify this to decrease that problem ?
@@JohnGibbons I thought it was a little obscure when you were cutting the hole, also, but got the idea when you lifted it up and showed the hole. No biggie.

Surgery not recommended - regards JG
I have quite an allergic reaction to most tapes. Is there one that is safe to use?
Try the Rocktape one that is designed for sensitivity - regards JG

Unless they won't do surgery which they won't for me.
How did it go with your surgery?
Yea yea, except arthritis dosent hurt. Inflammation does....
It seems now to be two years since your surgery. What was the operation? And how are your thumb symptoms now?
thank you for this
??? is there a difference of strength in the colors or are you just showing that you need two lengths
The colour of the tape is irrelevant as basically the same. regards jG
@@JohnGibbons hahahahy yeah i tought that you have no idea where Kinesio Tape comes from and what it's colors stands for you incompetent ripp off
I tried it and my thumb doesn't feel supported at all, my wrist does though
If it felt stable overall then it will help. Regards JG

What's the purpose of tape?
It can give some pain relief to the patient as well some stability - which is important to them, regards JG
Thank you!
You're welcome! Regards JG
What kind of tape
Rocktape is the best tape to use, regards JG
Would this work for irritation between the thumb and forefinger maybe 1/2” above the wrist?
Thanks for the message and its worth a try as will help, regards JG
@@JohnGibbons yeah its worth the try...your try i lausy and people will see that you have no clue wht you takl about
For how long it can be applied
Around 3-5 days, thanks for the comments. regards JG
@@JohnGibbons wow you read the little leavlet in the box! Yeahhh you are an expert now
John Gibbons so you can’t wash your hand for 3-5 days?

Try using just the first piece ONLY and ask the patient to comment on how that feels, worth a try, regards JG
@@JohnGibbons I AM the patient.
this is an overexaggarated “push ortoz” mimic. basically it will work but cannot treat the problem.
Thanks for the message and I agree as the technique will only help reduce some of the pain, regards JG
@@JohnGibbons i sounded a bit negative but well you did a good job there. Thanks
Not easy to do it on ur own
You are right as not easy to do this technique, regards JG
I had a go at DIY. It's tricky but I'll practice...
"Cut it so it looks like this" - doesn't show camera. Amateur hour.
No idea what you are on about - the video is fine, regards JG

Sod walking around with that all the time..
For some where they have a lot of pain they will try anything, regards JG
Sod having searing pain every time you try to pick something up......
