    Nice coop but the Racoons around my place would be in it in no time. I have to use hardware cloth on everything.

      Thanks! We are lucky where we are we don’t have a ton of predators running around. We have dogs and our pasture is right around the house so they generally don’t get that close but we have had them before. We also keep a net around them that is electrified. Thanks for watching!

      I recently had my chickens attacked by weasels. I had to make a hardware cloth skirt to keep them from tunneling under. Very nice coop!

    This is an excellent design. I like that it's simple, but it can be adapted to whatever conditions/predators you may be facing. Should also be adaptable for a greenhouse plan.

      Thank you! There are endless options for predators on this iv actually thought about doing a video on that! Iv built a green house out of this same design and have the video up go check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks for watching!

    I really like the idea of putting the netting above the nesting boxes to prevent messes and prevent the eggs from having mess on them. In my area I couldn't use this setup because of predators. They would dig under that coop in a heartbeat. However that is much much cheaper than a smaller coop that I purchased. And yours is way better than the small one that I purchased. So that's a win-win. It's easy enough to add predator proofing to something like that. Plus it looks like it would make a great greenhouse in the winter if I didn't have chickens! I just wouldn't need nesting boxes or roosting bars. Overall design is pretty awesome

      @Raisingtherogershomestead how much on average did it cost to build

    • @raisingtherogershomestead3148
      @raisingtherogershomestead3148  5 месяцев назад

      @Brignacfarms I had about 350 dollars in this build but I got the nesting boxes for nothing and used some scrap wood so I wouldn’t imagine you would spend more than 400 if you bought everything!

    That is one of the nicest hoopcoop setups I’ve seen on YT!! Great job! New follower. Thank you!

    Good stuff. After a few different types I like the hoop coops too. I currently use a 8’x16’ for about 20 birds and it’s plenty of room.
    I only wish I could figure out the entry. Just like how you ducked to go in I have to do the same and hit my head coming out about 1 of every 3 times. Drives me nuts.

      They are the best structures! I have several of them for different things. The only thing I can think of for head height is to build up the sides a little and put the panels on the raised sides. Thanks for watching!

    If you also covered it in 1'2 mesh hardware cloth then you might keep those birds alive in my neck of the woods.

      Thanks for watching! And yes that could be an option! We are in southern middle Tennessee we have our fair share of predators!

    Do you get snow?
    I get at least 12" and what do you think the snow-load is for that header beam and the panels?

    • @raisingtherogershomestead3148
      @raisingtherogershomestead3148  5 месяцев назад +1

      We do get snow we are usually good for 1 or 2 good snows a year around 6 inches. I have never even seen 12 inches of snow! But I would say that header beam would hold just fine or you could always put another post across in the middle and put some extra bracing. I did that in my milking stanchion walkthrough video. It’s not for the weight but I needed something to put my head chute on and I can climb on top of it and it doesn’t budge! Thanks for watching!

    What are the lengths of the posts and the cattle panel? I like how good the arch looks across the top.

    • @raisingtherogershomestead3148
      @raisingtherogershomestead3148  8 месяцев назад

      The 4x4s are 16ft long the post are 8ft the cattle panels are 16ft as well it gives you about 6ft 6 inches of head clearance in the middle I am 6ft 4in so I’m right at the top! Thanks for watching and for the questions!

      It is a 16x16 10mil tarp I think the brand is Rhino! You can get them on Amazon! Thanks for watching!!

    • @raisingtherogershomestead3148
      @raisingtherogershomestead3148  5 месяцев назад +1

      The structure is 8x16. Cattle panels are 16ftx 50in tarp is a 16x20. Everything else is just cut to fit. Thanks for watching!

    How many cattle panels did you use just 3.
