In my opinion, especially being a member of a 'slow' truck company, an event like this barely wastes any fuel, considering our aerial truck is driven to maybe two runs a month if that. Your own personal vehicle wastes more gas than what's going on in this video. I say good for the kid, being in front of the school, where only a small number of students there probably know how an aerial is operated. To think that this makes ANY department look bad is entirely bunk. It's a good training exercise for the operator and a positive public 'performance', if you will.
Me and my buddy are volunteer firefighters. So this firetruck belongs to our firehouse. I would say go to your local firehouse and see what they say. I'll be honest with you, it was tough even for my friend to get it being a member and all, so chances are slim.
dan M Regardless of being called a drill or not being a firefighter isn’t just about going to MVA’s and fires it’s about helping the community and you fellow brothers. So if one of them wants to use the truck for 15 minutes to ask his girl to prom go ahead nothing bad about it
He is probably a member of the department, most likely a junior firefighter/explorer, so he would just need permission from the department and the school to do this.
Ethan Winnemore I don't know where you go to high school, but I'd love to go to your school. In my state junior and explorer programs are almost nonexistent, so we don't have the teenage turnout rate that other departments in other parts of the country do. My state has its own call/volunteer academy, which is required by all depts to attend if you want to be a FF.
What if your school is out of your departments district and what if your department doesn't have a ladder truck? Then what do I do lol? I need to find a clever way to ask a girl to junior prom but nothing too over the edge. Any ideas?
Clever? Have you ever just asked a girl hey, do you wanna go to prom? I don't get why people make posters. If the girl likes you , she will say yes. Making posters and hiring fire trucks doesn't make her like you more.
Little late, but if you're school is multi-leveled you should get your girlfriend to the top floor get her by the window and ask her on a ground ladder! (:
I really would like to ask a girl to Prom on a fire truck, however I am not entirely sure where or who I should contact to rent a fire truck.. Who and how did you contact to rent a firetruck for this occasion?
i have got to do this if i do i want to do it as a firefighter but asking someone to marry me when i do go to ask a girl to prom i have a idea but i will need my jrotc class to help me ill need my uniform and saber guard because girls like a boy in a uniform and i know myu jrotc class ghas my back because we help eachother and stick togther
Waste of money and resources? Eh that's up for debate. While it wasnt the most practical use of resources, it also wasnt a waste. If his department is slow like mine then then this might have been the first time in a while that the ladder was actually operated. Hydraulics, and a lot of other machinery work the best if they don't sit unused for long periods of time. Using the apparatus for this allowed a chance to run the machinery and possibly refresh the operators memory. So in fact I would say that this is classified as a very unique training exercise and will help the dept better stop " the town from burning" as mariujauna kills said.
judging by the fact they have high school kids as firefighters it's probably a small town and that truck probably gets a legitimate call a handful of times a year.
Having been on a volunteer dept while I was in high school and the engineer for our tower truck being a volunteer most times you sit around waiting for a run so when a buddy of mine got this idea I had my chief approach the fire house down the road from the school and they actually allowed just he and I to take their tower down to the school I was already trained on operating the ladder from the bucket so we had a sign printed up for the both of us to ask our girlfriends to prom they was both in the same class when we decided to do it so when we went down we went down with said dept we took all trucks I put down the riggers raised the truck off the ground we got into the bucket and up we went when i got the bucket in position I radioed the chief on my portable radio and had him hit the siren a couple of times to get there attention and both girls accepted and we went to prom the whole thing was recorded and put into our senior video it was not put onto RUclips

Besides, the trucks need to be driven a certain distance anyways to keep them running properly. Keeps the engine and transmission healthy.
Girl says-Why can't I get that
Response- Start picking the right fucking guys to date
that air pack weighs as much as him lol

He is probably a member of the department, most likely a junior firefighter/explorer, so he would just need permission from the department and the school to do this.
+Matthew Foster not necessarily. Prom is in your senior year, and most highs school seniors have completed firefighter 1

+titan wilbur he didn't "Hire." He's a member there, he works with them.

Perfect truck for it
Oht oh 😱
Shitty mic but cool
Videos like this are the reason many fire departments are criticised.
Did she say yes?
Roger Boissonneau my chief would not allow a truck because if a call comes in we wouldn't be available to respond
same
My department's truck only get's used a few times a year, I guess I'm in luck!
Girls and boys are going back in. Love the Nick is the
My full time station in my city has 2 ladder trucks so I'm in luck

Not to mention it's also very good publicity for the department
Squad 1316 Productions Not a waste at all, it is a small payment back to a brother for doing his job.
Shit audio
ZSmith1-77 it's from 2012
i have heard of wasting emargancy services time but this is too far

That was the first time the ladder truck had been used in 3 months
what a complete waste of equipment use and fuel.
Cry about it, oh you already did.
Sam Ryan that other guy is a kinda right but it was well worth it.
its still training if you think about it, operating an arial
at least they know how to post a rig if there happens to be in that building.
atuly its good training and good to take the ladder out every once in a while to make sure its running good
