American schools in the early 20th didn’t accept blind or deaf students. If they were forced to take a blind or deaf student, they didn’t make any accommodations for them. It must have felt a lot like this.

Imagine not being able to hear and being asked to repeat or being blind and being asked to read the board. Insanity 😭😭😭😭

People learn differently, even the current system is foolish in my eyes.

I agree! It annoyed me too how we’ve learned Will is strong and talented, but then they have him taking a test with a wand he can’t use, carrying on the misconception that he’s untalented. It ticked me off when he was about the punch the golem and those two made fun of him more it when he could have easily put a hole in it. I mean, at least let him use his sword!
Though what I did like was how well he got along with the dwarves and how he stood up for them. He looked pretty badass. Though I have no idea how he’s going to be part of a ‘magic’ festival…

For someone that wants to rise to the top he should really be looking to stand out. He is a bit to half measured for my taste. Wanting to rise but not having the will to do so will only lead to defeat

Yah like he keeps fighting swords with a stick even though he knows he is awesome. Like if I had crazy strength and excellent sword skills that thing would be at my hip and I be talking smack 24/7. You have to instead of getting beat down for something you will never be able to do. Its very Low IQ thinking.

I get where you’re coming from about Will’s school not supporting his efforts. And I get frustrated too. But at the end of the day, this is a MAGIC school. Why is a swordsman there? It’s like with the Olympics where you have the traditional able-bodied group and you have a separate para-Olympics division for those who need the accommodations. But here, we only have a mage division, no strongman group. I think it comes down to Will and why he even chose to join this academy when he clearly can’t do magic. I still love the anime so far and it’s interesting, but if a facility is incapable for providing those accommodations, then that’s how that is. Considering how this is a first ever instance. where Will was the first ever swordsman capable of doing (arguably) just as well as the top mages in his division, the academy didn’t have the resources or knowledge to support it. There was no prior precedent for it.
Also the fact that he’s a strongman which is what the dwarves were, and that the mages look down on dwarves. It just clicks more that way if that makes sense. Kind of like during the 20th century when you had racial discrimination in American schools and didn’t support the needs of African American individuals (instead catering to traditional, white Americans).
I think the story is slowly connecting the pieces of the puzzle together. Can’t wait to see what happens!

I get where you are coming from, that reasoning falls apart for me due to Will having the backing from the headmaster. Literally the decision maker at the school tested Will and basically signed off on him continuing and she knows about his crazy abilities that she tested when he was 10. So why not cater to the student that literally the controller of the school is backing, even more evident the headmaster sent him in to face a teacher bare handed without his sword, where prior when she tested him she gave him one. It just all makes no sense when you sit and thank about it, in some instances they cater and in others they dont. Trust I do get what you are saying but that's only true for lack of awareness headmaster + teacher here are very aware so them not being able to help a special exception or give him separate tests is silly. I'm excited see what happens the animation is beautiful and I like the side characters just some of the fine details feel like they weren't thought out even though they shove them in our face.
