    Hiyas Edward, I do indeed enjoy Byzantium Flake and Sunset Harbor. I find Byzantium to be a bit stronger and slightly more stringent then Sunset Harbour which is slightly more creamy and mild. I really do like the Izmir Oriental in the Sunset Harbor. Two tasty tobaccos that I definitely enjoy for slightly different reasons.
    Serene smokes my friend.

    Morning Edward, I’m cellaring for one reason to get a stock built up as the price of tobacco is gonna go up and up and up, not to age anything , dad was a proper codger smoker two pipes and one blend, he chuckles when he sees my collection 😊. He’s 79 and not smoked for over 12 15 years 😊

    • @edwardhobbs5741
      @edwardhobbs5741  Год назад +1

      Thank you Bob 😊. Your dad sounds like a great man 😊. Stocking up because of prices is a damn good reason to do it. It might be still the cheapest way to still enjoy tobacco, high prices are high prices regardless.

    Good perspective on things Hobbs. I do feel a bit silly sometimes looking at my "cellar."
    I opened a box of 15 year old Nicaraguan sticks the other day , not much of a taste difference from fresh.

      Thank you Ray 😊. That's pretty good,15 years is a lot of restraint and discipline. I got a few I haven't touched for several years. As long as taste as fresh , it's a winner in my book.

      @@edwardhobbs5741 frankly it's not restraint, cigars in Montana is a waste. It's either freezing, fire season or the wind is blowing a gale. That's why I switched to pipes primarily.

    I guess you can call it Byzantium, Constantinople or Istanbul 😃. Pipe tobacco is certainly going up in price year-on-year above inflation rates, but still, when you compare it to other things we consume, like cigars and whisky, the cost per bowl for a 30 minute to an hours worth of pleasure is still inexpensive really. No-one likes it when prices increase but that's capitalism for you, we all seem to participate in it 😅. In the good-old-days, when pipe smoking was at it height and a great many people smoked a pipe, it was very inexpensive to buy and also readily available. In England, most people could walk to a local shop or newsagents and buy pipe tobacco, and specialist tobacconists were literally everywhere. So there was no real need to cellar tobacco. But equally times were much tougher back then for most people, they couldn't afford the luxury of buying more than they would need that week for anything. Most people got paid weekly so would spend their allotted money on tobacco weekly. Cellaring pipe tobacco to age is a relative new thing, as we in the west have become more affluent than those generations before us, we have more disposable income at hand, thus we often buy more than we actually require. All that being said we have learned in modern times that pipe tobacco can age beautifully, providing a smoother, deeper and richer and rounder flavour in a great many cases. Anyone who enjoys aged tobacco and doesn't like giving the Government more money in taxation would be wise stock up a little extra if they have some disposable income. A few years ago a 50g tin here was around £13, now it is above £20, a 54% increase, I don't think most peoples income has raised by that amount 😂. Have a great week ahead ✌

      ,🤣🤣🤣! I still call Istanbul Constantinople,if for nothing else, just keep those poor Byzantine emperors from rolling in their graves😁. I agree you,and you made some great points. Here in the United States, people usually bought in some quantity to save them the annoyance of having to make a daily or weekly run to get whatever tobacco products they used. I think maybe some pipe smokers did stock up,if their favorite blend came only from a tobacconist or a pipe shop. Most pipe shops can be only found in the cities here. For some pipe smokers here,that could involve a long trip. Thank you Stony😊
