U cover the baking soda with paper towels or thin cloths (so baking soda will stay in place); then you spray the vinegar on top of the paper towels to TOTALLY saturate it w/o rinsing it away. You don’t fill the tub with vinegar. Let it sit or an hour or two, or overnight if you like. Afterwards, using warm water and dawn dishwashing liquid scrub in circular motion and Ut will be as bright and clean as when it was first installed😍❤️

I definitely overdid it with the vinegar! Lol. Thank you so much for the tips! Always appreciated. 🥰

Vinegar is an acid and baking soda neutralizes it, so I would try just the vinegar. Then, you can try scrubbing it after letting it sit over night. Baking soda can be mixed in a paste with water and that has some abrasive qualities and chemical cleaning properties that you can use prior to or after using the vinegar. After all that you can use a soft type scrub with bleach but DO NOT MIX vinegar and bleach as that can produce a toxic substance.

Thank you for the advice! I think I'm going to try the vinegar alone and then soft scrub bleach if that doesn't work. 😀

You missing the 3rd ingredient...a degreaser like dawn . The black is from human and animal natural oils

Well... Did you ever get it cleaned?! If so, what worked? Im literally sitting in my bathroom right now trying to get my stained bathtub white again.

Sadly, we didn't get it clean all the way. But it's much better! Zep cleaner has worked the best so far. A Target bleach spray helps keep it fresh in between deep cleanings (even though I hate bleach).

I would put some straight Clorox on it, not a lot, just enough to make it wet and spread across top with a paper towel. Let set up to an hour and rinse off. Bleach my sink a few times a year this way, takes the yellow out.

Thanks! I've tried cleaners with bleach but never straight. I am for sure going to try it! 😀

Any suggestions for a “soap”/brown ring around the tub? Although lighter, it’s still there. 🤷‍♀️
    Thanks.
I, like you, have tried so many times! 😜

This is a tough one. We have so many issues with our tub as well. Zep cleaner worked pretty well for us. Or maybe a CLR cleaner??

@@LandDHome Thanks for your reply. I’ve seen the ZEP suggested, but haven’t tried it yet. I think that will be my next attempt.
Never thought about the CLR. Will keep that suggestion in my back pocket. 👍🏻😎
Thanks again for reaching out. Much appreciated.

use baking soda before and after the vinegar as a mild abrasive. Makes no sense to mix them as they just make water and CO2.

Trying to remove stains is very frustrating. ZEP helped me but it is very strong, so use it with caution if you decide to. Maybe do a test patch.

Maybe too much vinegar, it needs to be paste like and with a dash of washing up liquid too.
