excellent review. showing soft closing doors and wireless phone charging platform is always a nice feature as well as passenger foot rest etc. nice refrigerator scene!
NIO 8, Way beyond my payrate 😝 but a really good looking car for its size to be.. Great easy walkthough u had on it, and must admit i had a smile or two on my face when u called yourself a dummy a time or two, i bet I'll be feeling the same when the ES6 are going to be handed over to me in near future.. But i hope you'll be all right though the storm, and got back to your place before it kicked in for full 🤘😎 Best greetings from Norway
Hey Eric, there are three ways of openning the Fridge. 1. Nomi. 2. Screen. 3. Press and hold down the button which you used to pull out of the phone charging area on the central console. Also, there are 3 phone charging areas on the central console. the side way area that you tried, in addition to charging phone, it is also designed for NIO phone, you can put the NIO phone there and it will connect to the car wirelessly.
@@Eric_Garrisonit can happen but to show to the world on video . that was not cool. The feeling that i had from this video was NEGATIVE ON THE ES8 . Thank you again for your VIDEO.
Well also the sales staff tried it both in the trunk and in the second row. The car in the showroom was a lemon. Period. No good look for a BBA competitor.
I went to the same Nio house in MixC Qianhai as Marcel did. The second row seat button issue was still there when I visited, but a Nio fellow fixed it in a few minutes and let me know it was misconfigured in the showroom mode settings. I think your take on the third row is more reasonable. I was in the market to replace a 2017 Mercedes GLS, and I rarely if ever use the third row. Most GLS and BMW X7 owners I know use their cars as 4 or 5 seaters, otherwise they would have gone for a MPV like the Alphard or the Denza D9 like you mentioned. As for third row access, I also didn't see much of a problem. I much prefer the executive version as someone who is 6'1", as I found it more difficult to climb through the center aisle with my back bent. I actually sat in the third row for over an hour during the test drive, and it wasn't too bad.
Great video. I also thought that getting into the back seats was actually not bad at all. The quality issues... apparently it was specifically in Shenzhen. And it's a little disappointing that the quality team didn't check it before they brought the es8 to the showroom... but I don't think that means the es8 has quality issues.
could it be possible that ppl abused that seat button and the seat was folded and unfolded a thousand time a day, i am sure the fuse might get burned. lol.
Thanks to Eric for clearing the air about ES8 interior for US investors. Eric got my trust as he isn't trading NIO stock not like Marcel whose views are according to his position.

3:48 I think this goes to show that the operation should be intuitive, and most people would do what you did, hold the button down. I think this lack of making it "idiot proof", could have them lose sales 🤷. They should make it so that a button press or hold operates it. I question why you didn't show yourself getting out of the second row 🤔, looked like your foot would hit the door frame on the way out since you did mention Marcel...
I wouldn’t say he have short positions, it’s just Nio hasn’t been doing good, bad sales, can’t keep giving them excuses, everyone is growing faster than them, at this rate the EV sector might be owned by byd and Tesla
@@Eric_Garrison my judgement based on easy access to third raw not on non working seat fold button. Thanks Eric for being noble person and still trying to defend Marcel.

Sorry I think ES8 is a fail compared to other offerings. NIO's best bet is ET5 TOURING. They also need to give the ET7 a proper American size frunk to offset limited trunk space.
Great to see that the car Marcel looked at had an issue and that it was not the lot of ES8s. Thanks for doing this, Eric.
I always enjoy your NIO content Eric, I am ready for a 20,000 delivery month!
That’s the first time I’m seeing a Nio. Good video. Thank you.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to seeing the NIO phone. Why is it able to charge the NIO Phone but wouldn't wirelessly charge iPhone though?
GREAT ONE ERIC, THANK YOU SO MUCH > MARCEL NEED TO LEARN HOW TO🤣🤣🤣PRESS THE BUTTON 🤣🤣🤣
The button is not so intuitive. I also had to learn. I think the car he saw had some problems though too.
The closure just doesn't work smoothly on the es8 of the Shenzhen showroom.

ES8 is good if you have 2 young kids and 2 parents. Great for family outing. Bought one.
2023 es8?
@@Eric_Garrison yes, booked & paid.
Congrats! When is delivery?
@@Eric_Garrison in a few days 😊
Same- 2 young kids, delivery soon, just watching because I can’t wait haha. Nothing else came close for us, we don’t want a car littered with screens.

Marcel has been long on nio since before 2019. He also posted bad videos on nio.

The second row? It’s just a normal row like any other car. No need to show it.
Not going to lie...An ET7 touring edition would be my dream car 💙💙💙💙
Thanks Eric, that clears up a few things....maybe Marcel has taken a short position on NIO recently? His videos haven't been as positive of late!!

In contrast to other people talking NIO on RUclips, I do own the stock .. but maybe not enough .. so yeah, very much short! 😅
@@DONGXiiTheChinaOpportunityLove the comeback Marcel 😂
@@DONGXiiTheChinaOpportunity Don’t worry Marcel, I still love your channel and insight…just noticed you weren’t as positive as usual!!😂
Panel gaps look pretty uniform throughout, unlike on my Tesla.
I thought you left China? Good to see you back!
In and out lol
If buying the ES8 for a large family, with limited storage space behind the 3rd row, a luggage rack would be needed for vacations.
They seem to have a great product, why are they struggling with sales ? Doesn't make sense.
my dream car
7 out of 10. NIO really needs to do better if it is really serious in challenging LI Auto. L8 is absolutely fabulous. Just being brutally honest
How can you give a rating out of 10 without even seeing or driving the car. 🤦♂️
Wow 👍
did you move back to china? that was fast
I’m in flux. Thailand still on the agenda soon ish
This looks like the Cheap John version of a parody of a spinoff of the cheapest car review I have ever seen on YT
Mr P “holy shmokes guys!” reference 😂
Gotta pay homage to my boy P 😂
@@Eric_Garrison you'll have to use more "nice" descriptors then
It's kinda lame that they make the screen smaller so you can see Nomi. On top of that, no passenger screen.
unfortunately US won't let it sell in North American.
Import to Canada already 🤡 and byd selling in Mexico ✅✌️
This really makes me mad because I want a NIO so bad, they are definitely the best EVs in the market
It’s a loss for us in the US.
Moving to China!
ES8-Gate!
Es8ception even
Marcel, you lost your creditability.

ET5😍
👍
You can see the plastics are made very thin for weight savings. It won’t hold up long term , mark my words.
You need a clip on Rode mic to be visible on your chest.
Sounds like a growth hack
i like ET 7 more
More than es8? Definitely

Good luck getting that into a battery swapping station 🤞🤣
Neo is far behind Li righ now, Li L7 is the super star in China EV market
We are all idiots when it comes to new things
Overkill. I would rather buy a Kia and pay 100 000 $ less.
