I've been sourcing latches through JBRC for over twenty years and I've installed them in countless builds for drag racing here state side. All your complaints are legit, they aren't cheap, no instructions, you have to drill out the holes for the hardware, you have to grind down the one hinge pin to clear the nut, and I usually weld a little piece of stainless on the end to create a hook to hold the window securely. I will say the JBRC latches do come with a metal drill template though so that makes them pretty easy to mount. Unfortunately they're the only game in town here in the states because they are compact and light and do a fine job for what we use them for once you perform the necessary modifications. I do feel bad for anyone who has never installed them before because they're not going to know all the tricks to installing them, this new design looks like it addresses all the issues. Might have to look into having a better look to see for myself. Thanks for the info and Happy New Year from Florida U.S.A.!!!
Thank you for confirming i was right about them! And yes this latches have adreses every single issue about them. and at 160g each still light. Let me know if you want a pair and we can sort something out.
@@RuskiWeldFab Oh, I've heard more than a few complaints by newbies trying to install them over the years because after the first hundred pairs or so I forget how fiddly they are to install if you've never done them. lol My question with the new design is how much bigger they are physically and how would they look aesthetically compared to the smaller ones that have been the standard for decades? The drag cars we build don't have the fiberglass frame around the window, we usually build a titanium frame out of 5/16" or 7.95mm tubing with tabs that the window bolts to and it's an inch or 25mm from the window edge, plus the tabs, so the OG smaller latches fit really well. To meet the rules we also have to have a 4" or 101.6mm hole in the window for a fire nozzle for emergency's. We use that hole to access the inside door release too, leaving the door smooth and free of any door handles. I'd considered building a better mouse trap many times over the years but couldn't justify the money to get it rolling. It's nice to see another option enter the marketplace. Any distributors state side yet?
Excellent video Ilya, very informative, thank--you. Do you think these RCP latches would be strong enough if these were the ONLY method of locking/unlocking on my (carbon fibre) doors?

Thank you. Unfortunately not. They are designed to help with flex they are not designed to lock the door.
