Seemed like the main difference was loft. The launch angle and spin changed as per loft, head shape probably helped but it was mostly loft. Also, does anyone expect to hit a 17* driving iron out of thick rough with good results? I'd never use that club in that situation.

watching Rick has improved my game so much, I used to have a nasty 90 degree turn slice, change my swing stance and grip and all help me based on hid vids. My brother used to despair when we went out for a game cause I would be 130 per game.

I went with gapr lo. And decreased the loft to 15.5 degree and i love this club better than any club I have ever hit. I hit it 260 on a bad shot and 280+ when I kill it but I can't keep it low. It goes about the same trajectory as my 6 iron but keeps going and going. I also had it customized to 2 inches longer than standard. I replaced my 1 iron 16 degree u.d.I. which was my 260 max club. Gapr lo is worth the $$$.

I just recently changed to Taylormade P790, M6 3-wood and the GAPR mid. I have found the GAPR to be relatively easy to shape a shot; useful out of the rough and off the tee. I agree with the assessment in this video that the height of the ball flight is what it is. The mid for me in wind gust is almost low enough to be useful. I find when wind is really a factor but the distance "in-between" I have to choke down on the 3-wood and take a nice an easy swing. I personally like the club for the utility that it is.

Lets call them for what they are (as opposed to TMs marketing dept call them): GAPR Hi= hybrid, GAPR Mid = Ping Crossover, GAPR Lo= driving iron or UDI

    • @joshlynch5676
      @joshlynch5676 4 года назад

Lo is an Adams DHY driving hybrid, and the mid/hi are direct rip offs of the XTD line.
This is not an original technology they're releasing. They're rebranding the Adams clubs with some CG changes.

Thank you Rick for another very well done video on testing equipment complimented with good commontary. Your honest thoughts about how you test and what you think of the results help me understand the equipment better and I find I can make better decisions when buying a club or ball because I understand what I am needing in that peice of equipment to play better. I have three sets of right handed clubs and two sets of left handed clubs. I enjoy playing both ways. Here in Las Vegas we have a large variety of courses to play and each course requires one to three unique clubs to play it well on particulor holes. So i am having a lot of fun meeting these challanges and your advice along with Pete's has made the game much more enjoyable. Las Vegas Duffer Joel

tried them all just today at my local PGA tour superstore.come home with the 3 hi.I'm new to the sport and played with used TM 320s,Hogan P wedge, sand wedge, and a Wilson driver for 2 years all standard.the real problem was I'm 6ft 9in,, so in May I tested some irons and drivers, went with TM M6. 5 through Gap,and added a S wedge and A 4 iron M5.Also the M6 driver all fit for my length and size. WHAT A DIFFERENCE THATS MADE.finally getting good enough to really enjoy the game proper.anyway the 3hi gaper was to help me with that GAP from driver to 4 iron with more than a few of my second shots comeing out the rough and I do struggle a tad getting the ball up n the air at times.
also I know I'll need at least another hybrid and 3 or 5 wood but that may be Christmas or so because this has been a COSTLY ordeal lol, but well worth it because I truly enjoy every second I'm playing

If it was £150 I would have a pop, but these are £229 atm!!!!! There is a place for something like this in my bag, but honestly, I think that gap can be filled by a Cobra utility second hand on ebay for £100 and its nice and shiny too.
Over the last few years everything you need to be good at golf has pretty much come out and the smart money is on the second hand market.
I just tested the ts3, £450 in the pro shop and on my last good shot with it, it went EXACTLY the same place as my £50 gumtree Aeroburner Driver.I just spent £179 on an odyssey putter and I'm doing no better with it than the £40 one I replaced it with.
I only bought it because I figured I wont ever need to replace it. So it made sense to splash out.
They need to knock 100 quid off this club and it will fly off the shelf, everyone I spoke to about it won't touch it because of the price and truth be told, they really really do not like the turquoise or the idea of it scratching.
The largest part of the golf market for a club like this is decent to medicore golfers. These people in general will not spend this sort of money.
    its all backwards!

I got mine 2 days ago and turned it down to 15.5 degree and wow is all I can say. Way longer than my u.d.I. 1st time I hit it 280+ yards. udi 260 max I had no problem hitting it high. I also had it extended 2 inches longer than standard. X stiff shaft. And the one time I hit it bad was about 240. Never had the opportunity to hit it out if the rough. Hit 8 times and 7 were flawless. I couldn't keep it as low as I wanted but was still a penetrating flight even though I had it set at 15.5 degree.

Sorry Peter James D is correct. TM paid $70M for Adams Golf in 2012 with the expressed purpose of acquiring Adams expertise and Patents and ever since they have been incorporating Adams designs into new TM products. It makes total sense that TM Designers would rework original Adams design concepts and then include them into new TM product.

@@banditbaker1675 do you actually know the circumstances of that acquisition, my guess is you don't TaylorMade lost a patent infringement lawsuit against Adams The Next Step was TaylorMade did a hostile takeover of a much smaller company that was not in a financial situation to stop the Hostile takeover the Hostile takeover ended up costing less than what the penalties and court fees would have cost TaylorMade so TaylorMade stole the information the patents the copyrights lost a battle in court and then did a Hostile takeover of the company and most of the recent TaylorMade technology is Adams so yes you are correct they did buy the company but not the way everybody understands

I love the idea of having a 2 iron in my bag. I just don’t see a time when I would be brave enough to use it. The GAPR Low would be one of those clubs which work brilliantly in the shop but would be used twice once you purchased it.

Im in the market for a 2 iron replacement. I have always been a long iron player. Been using a titleist blade 2 iron for past years. Pretty sure I would use this 4-5 times around as thats how often I use a regular 2 iron.

Rick, I know this is an older video, but do you still have that Adams DHY Driving Hybrid or the Adams XTD Hybrid? I'd love to see these compared with the new Taylormade clubs. They look almost identical just with new color and slight CG changes.
