Great creation. Printed fine, as you said I had to fine tune the connectors slightly. Printed the Strong Connector version in PETG and adjusted the size a fraction. percentages 103 x 98 x 103. Went togther and its as smooth as. Thanks Ruven. Kids will love it. Now to decide which project next. 😀
Hey Ruven, I really appreciate the effort put into this and your other designs. I've had a lot of problems (and have noticed others mentioning having problems as well) with the connectors breaking in this and the other gear ball. In a gear cube print that I had found online by someone else they used connectors with hollow centers (they connected on the outer edges, making a closed loop). This worked very well and I have put together about 5 of these for my nieces, pulling them apart and putting them back together with different colors over and over, without having any of the connectors break. It might be worth looking into alternative connector designs like the one I mentioned. Thanks again! Edit: It's worth mentioning that the connectors perform much better when printed in PETG, but I still think that alternative connector designs would be a good idea.
What if instead of these connector pins one were to include small metal ball bearings, and just glue a pin into the bearing hole. Would it make the entire thing run smoother? Update: I remodeled it after buying it and made it have sockets for regular metal bearings, and it works great.
what would be my cause of connectors breaking during assembly? I print a handful of extras every time but I am affraid they are gonna pop apart while playing with them since they be weakened while assembling. Some times i have no issue then sometimes I get 3-4 break each time. Oh this is happening with the original gear ball also. not the 2.0
I bought 2 of them. One had black pins, and 1 of them broke. The other one had white pins, and one of them broke. Now, what do I do? Why don't they send extra pins. 😢
Sure. There are 4 gears in total. 2 big ones and 2 small ones. The difference is that the spiral goes the other way. So identify those that have the same spiral direction. There is always a pair of 2. You can then treat them like i did in the video.

@@Dragonofshame Hey, can you link me that design?
@@Ri0m0 Yeah, I'm on vacation visiting family right now but I will in a few days
Can you 😢send to me as well? I’m having problems with connectors. ❤

Very well done! What filament was that?
sehr geile Sache. Schon bei thangs aboniert❤
hey love it. how long does it take and how much filament does it use. i want to see if i have enough
My completed ball weights 104g. I'm not sure how much I lost to the rims/skirts though.

Yea, no idea what causes that. Maybe try more walls. I never had a single one breaking.
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Has anyone tried to make one of these in metal? I would like to try it, but I wonder if the pieces would "snap" together.
It would definitely work, but you might need to 3d print the connectors.

Hmm, that suckes. Contact them hopefully they send you some more.
mine did not print the numbers on the bottom of the gears...is there any way to tell them apart?

mine doesn't have the numbers on any of the parts...
@@coondogg729 Probably a case of bad printer. It has in the slicer. You can orient yourself on those.
