    I think the direction they take with Chopper, will greatly affect the direction they take with Karoo. If they do make chopper a muppet/animatronic, then I could see Karoo being very present, as he was in the manga, aslso as a muppet. My thought being, you don't want chopper to be the only muppet floating in a sea of actors, so filling the scenery with muppetized versions of the other strange creatures from the One Piece world will make Chopper blend in more.
    However if they end up going with CGI, or slide Chopper into a more human-esque form, then I would expect Karoo to be minimized/removed.

    11:47 - 11:56 Actually you can't skip Little Garden. Change it yes, but not skip. Its more important than most realize. It not only introduces the Giants further cementing Ussop's goal of a brave warrior of the sea, & ties in later to Enies Lobby, but its a major win moment for him, (which Live Action Ussop REALLY needs cause what they left out in Season 1), as he saves Nami, Vivi, Zoro, and yes Luffy from being killed by Mr. 3 & Ms. Goldenweek, (its cause of her Luffy is stuck), the further extension of the Zoro & Sanji rivalry, Sanji posing as Mr. Prince when talking to Mr. 0, and most importantly where Nami gets bit by the rare ancient insect that she gets critically sick enough for them seek a doctor, which of course is the whole reason they needed to go onto Drum Island to begin with. Without these plot points or a variation of them the story will start to either fall apart or be end up very messy.

A lot of quirky characters may be able to be cut to make things easier but you absolutely have to show both of these Strawhats, and while Usopp works without his nose and Sanji with normal eyebrows, turning Brook into a normal human with flesh on his bones doesnt work and even human chopper seems like a heavy compromise to me. Yeah, Usopp's character already suffered in season 1 so skipping Little Garden is off the table IMO. They can skip a lot of the fighting, but they need to meet the Giants at the very least. Cut Whiskey Peak, cut a bunch of the Alabasta wandering through deserts stuff, make the fights short and sweet, but don't cut the Giants. 1 episode for Loguetown/Laboon/reverse mountain, one episode for Luttle Garden, 2 episodes for Drum, 4 episodes for Alabasta.
      They could pretty much just start Alabasta at Rain Dinners and not much would be lost. The only things are Zoro buying the Sandai Kitetsu and Luffy punching Vivi. Which, my God, how would they pull that off anyway? Just have Zoro buy the Sandai at Rain Dinners.
      Fifth episode ends with Luffy impaled, sixth episode could be the fights at the capitol, seventh episode could be the lead up to Croc's defeat with the giant bomb cannon clock tower sub plot, and eighth could be Luffy knocks out Croc, the teary farewells, and then Robin joining the crew.

      I'm actually hoping that they don't, season 2 is gonna need way more in the way of special effects given how bonkers the grandline gets, so if I get a vote (which I am aware that I don't), I'd actually end season 2 after Drum Island and have Alabasta proper be season 3 by itself, there's definitely enough content to make that work and they'd avoid having to cut anything major. Even if the budget goes up by a whole lot it's likely not enough to cover the insane effects they need AND a larger episode count, so I feel if they try to squeeze everything into one season, especially if they need to stretch the budget over 10-12 episodes, it'll be a massive hit in quality, in terms of pacing, effects, character writing, etc. It would be like all of the flaws of season 1 would be amplified with less opportunity for it's strengths to shine as much.

      @@Gerolanfalan a few factors:
      1) IIRC season 1 already holds the record for the highest per-episode budget in television history, or at least is really close.
      2) given the writer/actor strikes, if they end with the studios giving into the demands of better pay structures they are looking at a significantly larger portion of the seasonal budget going toward paying salaries and Netflix is looking at a smaller profit from the revenue, so I wouldn't expect any major budget increases any time soon, especially since their recent policy against password sharing resulted in a large exodus of subscribers.
      I'd say the absolute most we can expect is a 25% increase on the season budget, and that's incredibly optimistic, no increase or a minimal increase is a more reasonable expectation, a pessimist might have caused to expect the budget to *decrease*. I wouldn't expect 10+ episodes (ideally we'd want 12 to cover everything in one season) that also meet our set design and special effects needs on anything less than double season 1's budget, and that's an absolutely ludicrous expectation to hold.

A good example would be syrup village despite being the only arc to have two episodes still felt like they had to rush through it just to get to the next place/arc. Especially when you consider these early arcs are pretty short in comparison to later ones, it makes me think seasons should focus on mainly one or two arcs depending on the length. I think ending a six season run at the time skip is honestly the perfect spot to have a break in production.
    Also, they better not skip Little Garden, it's vital for Usopp's character arc. Might as well not have Usopp without it.
    You know, critically examining the series, there's enough stuff going on with what took place on Little Garden and Drum Island that it could take up the entirety of Season 2 with the couple events leading up to it. Arabasta is 40ish episodes in the anime, which is about the same length as all of East Blue. It may be entirely justifiable to put off Arabasta as a whole season of its own if we're stuck with the 8 episode format.
    If we're not stuck with 8 episodes and can do 10 or even 12, I can see cutting down Little Garden to 1 or 2 episodes, that's all that would really be needed to get Nami bitten and the meeting with the giants. Whether or not we have the Mr. 3 fight or not during those episodes is debatable, but if we have 2, it should fit in fine.
    The question would be Drum Island. If we have only 8 episodes, we can fit the key parts of Drum Island in no problem by making Arabasta a season 3 arc. If we have 10 or 12, we could cut Drum Island down to 2 episodes, or maybe 3. We'd have to have 4 episodes minimum for the Arabasta arc I feel.

    I honestly think the biggest challenge with season 2 if we only get the same 8 episodes and run time is getting to Alabasta and hitting all the right story beats. And then still having enough time to do Alabasta justice. It needs at least 3 if not 4 episodes on its own and I'm worried that the first truly epic scale arc in the series will be beyond truncated much like other arcs so far.

    If they do end up capped at 6 seasons, I would think they could rework Marineford into a more climactic moment for the series. For one, I can't see them having all of the strawhats split up for several seasons. While that might be a storytelling device that works in Game of Thrones, I would think perhaps the entire crew will be present for the battle of Marineford and perhaps its ending could feature a pivotal character defeated. And even if Luffy isn't Pirate King at the end of it, it could definitively serve as a climax for the series, albeit a somewhat tragic one. Then perhaps they could have Luffy imply that they still need to get stronger and train more, cue a timeskip cut to epilogue where the strawhats get back together after 2 years and set sail for the new world, stronger. This would probably be the most realistic climactic exit point since 12+ seasons is just not realistic.

    • @mrbigrig171
      @mrbigrig171 Год назад +2

      With some reworking that could work. Imagine this: Sabaody plays out as usual until the end. Instead of the whole crew getting packed up, Luffy is the only one that gets sent away (maybe have Rayleigh come to save the crew from Kuma shortly after or something) Amazon Lily and Impel Down play out as usual, with Luffy worried about his crew. Cut to Marineford and have the whole crew there, wanting to save Ace since they have no clue where Luffy is! All the Strawhats join the fight in Marineford, Ace dies, but this time the crew is there to comfort Luffy. Have him thank them for being there, but saying they need to get stronger to challenge the new world. Maybe get a montage of the time skip training, cut to Sabaody as the crew reunites again.
      This would mean that there would probably be 5-6 episodes without the other cast members, but that’s much better than a whole season (plus it allows them to be there for the emotional climax of the series)

Cut season 2 after Drum Island with 8 episodes and make season 3 be *only* Alabasta proper with 4-6 episodes. I'd rather any budget increases go toward the effects budget given how things will only get increasingly more bonkers as the series progresses. Just cut season 2 after Drum Island and give Alabasta proper the entirety of season 3 with like 4-6 episodes.
      It's my understanding that the budget is determined for the whole season and then the producers/showrunners/whomever needs to decide how to split that per-episode, so even if they get a 25% budget increase, given the greater effects needs of the Alabasta Saga that isn't really enough to add more episodes AND do the series justice. Maxing out the per-episode budget is the way to go, IMO, which means some seasons will be shorter by necessity, but also WAY better since they'll not only have more money to spend on making things look really, really good, they'll also have more time to devote to adapting the story well by being patient instead of trying to cram absolutely everything in the saga into one season.

Then there is no point to do a live action since that would make it all animated again lol. Unless they shoot all the seasons back to back then work on the cgi as the years go by.

      Makeup can do a lot too make people look younger. Abd story line wise, for live action there is no reason they can't say Luffy is 30 by the time he gets the one piece.

      @@darrel7493 How would he get the one piece if the manga is not even done. I think it would be a bad move on Oda do allow something like that. True makeup would help but most of them will be pushing 40 maybe older by the time we even get past season 4 if it is going to take 2 years to shoot a season. But we will see, it will be interesting to see how this all will work,

    I find it hard to believe they will cut little garden, because its one of Usopps most important character development moments. He already has the least time out of the main cast, they cant cut more. Or they can, but that would really suck for Usopp enjoyers such as myself.

    If they are going to make more than one season, they need to know where each season ends. It does not mean we are getting six seasons, it means they need to have a plan for the future for the next season to work. If season 2 works just as well or better, we are definitely getting season 3. I hope we get six seasons. Any ideas on who should be cast as Crocodile?

    Still surprised Zoro references Mr 1 in episode 1 of the live action “you need to find somebody stronger, number 1 is my favourite number” as he flips the bird at Mr 7 😂 but I imagine that’d be an awesome callback for Live Action only fans when they see Mr 1 next season

    Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr Kureha is perfect, especially since she's a big OP fan since the cast having that passion for OP is what made season 1 so good. I also really really hope that they don't cut Little Garden because not only is it a really fun arc that would suck to not have, but it also establishes the giants and introduces Elbaf and those things become quite important later on. So if they really are planning to have that many seasons, then Little Garden is quite important. Also even though it seems likely and it'd probably be smart for budgetary reasons, I still hope they don't cut Karoo because he too feels like an unofficial Straw Hat and he's just great. Though I guess I'd rather get Little Garden than get Karoo without LG so it might have to be done.
    Overall though, I pray above all else that they make season 2 more than just 8 episodes since I don't think that they can fit Loguetown and the whole Alabasta saga into only 8 episodes without arcs feeling rushed and many things being cut out. Season 2 should be 10 episodes at the very least but probably more to make sure that the season will be truly as good as it can be. Alabasta is a whole country and a pretty big arc and will for sure require like 3 episodes at least. I don't mind waiting longer for season 2 to come out if I know that the final product will be better in the end. Though with how good season 1 was, I have faith that season 2 will be just as good if not better.

      I'm worried about the budget if the try to do more than 8 episodes for season 2, given how much more bonkers the grand line is they'll need WAY more expensive effects. Personally, I say cut season 2 after Drum Island and give Alabasta proper the entirety of season 3. They can do Logue Town through Drum Island in 8 episodes without needing to cut anything important, especially if the overall budget increases even a little bit to allow for the effects. Then they can dedicate an entire season's worth of budget to Alabasta, which will need it, especially if they do it in only 4-6 episodes.
      Personally, I'd much rather have episode breakdowns be decided based on the needs of the story for that season than on trying to get as many as possible, I'd happily take a 4 episode season that is absolutely perfect than an 8 episode season that feels rushed or has too much filler.

      @@jacobbissey9311 I'm hoping that Netflix will give OP live action a higher budget for season 2 now that they know it's a success so that they can include all the special effects and whatnot and so they can do the whole Alabasta saga. But then again idk how Netflix operates. I personally would prefer that Loguetown and all of the Alabasta saga be included in season 2 since I think that Alabasta would be a better conclusion and better climax to the season than Drum Island and would make the season feel more complete. Especially since Crocodile would be a fantastic season climax villain since he's very menacing and would be built up throughout the season like Arlong in season 1. If Drum Island is the final arc, then the climax villain would be... Wapol, which could be a letdown.
      However, I have no clue how big of a budget they will be given so my ideal season 2 could just be a pipe dream. I suppose it would be better if they end at Drum Island and focus on perfecting the special effects and making all the arcs before Alabasta as good as possible if their budget isn't big enough. It'd be better than if they include everything and have the season suffer as a result. One thing I will say is I'd definitely prefer if they include Little Garden and end at Drum Island (then have Alabasta in season 3) than if they end with Alabasta but don't include Little Garden. I absolutely don't want any canon arcs to be skipped. I for sure don't want them to pull a 4kids and skip LG.

    • @Dimentio21
      @Dimentio21 Год назад

      I just thought of another reason why Little Garden shouldn't be skipped. Nami getting a deadly illness from LG is a very important plot point that leads to the Straw Hats going to Drum Island and her illness heavily impacts the events of Drum Island. The whole reason why Luffy goes through hell to climb up the mountain and get to the castle is to save Nami's life. It shows how much he cares for her and what he's willing to go through for his friends and it also leads to them meeting and eventually recruiting Chopper. I also really like how when Nami first gets sick on the ship, the whole crew is deeply concerned about her, even to the point that they all fall asleep in her room. It shows just how much they care about each other as a crew.
      If they skip LG, they'll need a different plot device to get the Straw Hats to go to Drum Island. If Nami doesn't get sick, then all those great scenes could be lost and the events of Drum Island would have to be greatly altered which I wouldn't really like. So LG is really important to include or else Drum Island will be completely different. Unless of course they just make Nami get 'grandline fever' or something like in the 4kids dub, but that'd be kinda dumb.
      (Edit: Dorry and Brogy themselves are also brought up again in Enies Lobby when Sogeking convinces the giants guarding the gate, sooo yeah LG really can't be skipped)

      @jacobbissey9311 Год назад

      @@Dimentio21 I sincerely doubt they'd get more than a 25% budget increase across the whole season, even that would be pushing it. I'd say to include everything including all of Alabasta proper in one season they'd need 12 episodes to really do it justice, and given the significantly increased special effects needs I wouldn't expect them to pull that off with anything less than double their season 1 budget. Thankfully the effects needs are slightly offset by less intensive set design needs. IIRC they already have most of what they need for Logue town built, Reverse mountain should be mostly done in studio, Whiskey Peaks can repurpose a bunch of the existing bar sets so minimal construction needed, Little Garden can either be done in studio or in a rainforest somewhere, so not super difficult, and most of Drum Island can be done in studio. Alabasta proper likely will need both location filming AND elaborate set construction, on top of their ridiculous special effects needs, so I'd really rather that got a full season's budget.
      IIRC season 1 already got the single highest per-episode budget in all of television history, I *really* would not expect an especially significant increase any time soon. Especially if the writer and actor strikes somehow end with the streaming services like Netflix caving to the (IMO reasonable) demands of the unions (from what I've heard, anyway, I admittedly haven't looked super in-depth into what they're asking for, but it sounds like reasonable pay and protection from AI replacements, which are reasonable asks IMO), as that'll mean they have to pay more in salaries and can expect less revenue going forward, so throwing record breaking sums of money around isn't likely any time soon.
      As for ending on Wapol, of they work in the Baroque Works angle properly, we can still have a big battle that's built up throughout the season without much issue, just have occasional run-ins with ranking members of BW throughout, maybe some cuts to some board meetings, then have it culminate in the strawhats getting ambushed as they're leaving Drum Island, maybe crocodile is there, maybe he's not, but having Miss All Sunday would probably be important to maybe lay the groundwork of her being less antagonistic and open to switching sides or something. End with the Strawhats getting away as they sail to Alabasta or something. Not super different from the manga overall, just one or two extra scenes per episode and one huge extra fight. The hardest part is coming up with a plausible reason for the Strawhats to actually get away if they're facing a bunch of heavy hitters at once that wouldn't feel like an ass pull, I expect the writing team to be fully capable of that, though.

    Things i think they should do is combine Laboon and whiskey peak arcs together. That way they dont need extras and they can still keep Laboon and have Vivi join and save time. It could also having Igaram nursed back to health by Crocus to explain away why he survived asuming they dont kill him. Also i think its safe to say that we'll have a flashback that shows off Brook when he was alive.

    The Alabasta Arc is so huge I wonder if they can pull it off in just one season, especially considering we haven't even really concluded East Blue. I'm inclined to think they'll either give season two more episodes (resulting in a bigger delay before we see it) or change A LOT and take us to Alabasta proper immediately after we get Chopper, skipping everything else before and after. Vivi could be introduced anywhere and in many different ways really. I'm not even 100% confident we'll get Drum Island as snowy outsides aren't really that common in South Africa.
