I liked Will O’spreay from the moment he got grilled by all of the old school wrestlers for his Ricochet “superhero gymnastics” match.
Instead of just retreating to a corner and avoiding the confrontation, he actually had a wrestling match with one of those critics, in Big Van Vader (R.I.P.)
O’spreay understood that there was money to be made from the natural heat. And he didn’t shy away from not only meeting one of his antagonizers, but working a match with him.

I love Will for how Humble, he really is. He says he isn't as good as etc etc because he doesn't have the ego of a mega star. He's relatable for that reason and I respect him more because of that.
The reason he doesn’t have the ego of a megastar is because he isn’t one. Compared to Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Andre The Giant, John Cena, Batista, Onita, osprey is the equivalent of a plant at a wrestling show held in a small school gym, in Yeovil

I dunno Chris, I prefer this Will Ospreay than the previous. He still busts out the crazy moves, but not everytime and he builds towards it. And he tells such a better story in the ring, and he looks like he understands the psychology much better now to connect and play with the crowd.
I thought WO's AEW matches were a master class in looking big & spectacular w/o making your opp/the ring look small. He's ahead of where Luger/Goldberg/Batista were when they got their WWE pushes
Ospreay is just a stand up guy. He deserves everything good that comes his way. Freaking legend already!

I love how humble Will is more wrestlers need to be like that. He respects the business and everybody who's in it who's great and he doesn't think he's better than anybody else more people in the world Need to be like him.
That's why Will is who he is and is where he is, in large part. It really is refreshing - he and Danielson are probably the only two off the top of my head I can think of that have almost no ego when speaking about themselves.

He's grown and evolved as a wrestler, a man, and as a performer. He's so well rounded now to where he's the total package. So much so could even be his gimmick lol
I never would have pegged Osprey to be Mr. Humble Jones over here. So cool to see. Hopefully we get to see more of him with the upcoming mega shows.

No point going out and doing meaningless flips and high spots when that's what most of the roster does.

Wrestling has become so oversaturated with so many guys flipping, diving, and bouncing all over the place every 5 seconds it seems to have lost what made it special and now wrestlers spam that stuff nonstop in matches all the time. It's no longer unique or special with everyone doing the same thing all the time.
He has a point, what can Will Ospreay do in AEW that we haven’t already seen, like in 2017,18 shit was amazing, but now everyone can do it, making it non impressive. Obviously still impressive, but the pop won’t be there like it was in 2018 when possibly nobody has seen what Ospreay and Ricochet were doing
It came off (to me) that his reason for not being the "Old Ospreay" is that everything he used to do is being done by people in AEW already and if he did those things, he'd just be another guy doing the same flips and dives as everyone else. He saw that and he made the conscious decision not to do it. He concentrated on what he can bring to the table that the other guys don't.
It's great that Will has the ability to do those flips, dives, and stunts, but if he realized that if that's all he has to offer, he doesn't have anything different or unique; and a talent with the wherewithal to see, acknowledge, and adapt to that is a rarity in wrestling today.
He also got a lot of injuries, it's a good thing he could adapt his style to keep doing what he loves despite all of those injuries.
Theres also the fact when u move from Jr. Heavy to Heavyweight, u gotta do less flips. And do more chops, forearms etc.
Good for you Will. This evolution is gonna keep you in the game longer. His match with Dax was a WRESTLING match, with fundamentals. And it was so so good. I enjoyed every minute. Loved the high flying stuff, but let’s see you wrestle more mate. As a fellow Essex lad, loved this interview 👏🏻
The perfect word for Will the human being: humble. He's so incredibly talented, and even though he knows it, he still thinks of others so highly while thinking he can learn and get better. This is a dude you want in your locker room.

Most of my friends aren’t weekly wrestling watchers, most of them only watch when they’re with me and it’s AEW mostly with WWE. All the dudes LOVE Will Ospreay. Getting over with the “casuals” speaks volumes to how great he is
I like him more now, that he's maturing and realizing this isn't forever. Very grounded. Wish him the best.

For me, Ospreay's match against Orange Cassidy at last year's Forbidden Door was the match of the night.
I just watched that the other night and really truly was entertained. My only real metric for if a match is good. I find the hate for OC and Ospreay very interesting in light of how undeniably excellent both are at performing in the ring.

Will OSpreay is the best stunt wrestler in the absolute world. He’s also a well round grappler now too, he’s worlds better than most of the high flyers in AEW.

Honestly if we want him to be around for years to come we have to accept his style change...personally I think he should go part time with a lower schedule in aew and preserve his career.he really is special and I don't want him to just dissappear because of injuries that are stacking up.he can still deliver but needs to be used and presented more strategically
He's only 30. Would be tragic for him to have to hang it up before he reaches 40, when you see what guys like Jericho and Sting can do well into their late-middle and even old age.

Rollins put Osprey in his place, told him there’s a million guys doing the flips and dives and leg slaps, Ricochet and others are literally there to prove he was a dime a dozen
When he realized that he began changing his style and now he’s almost an actual full fledged Blue Chipper
Rollins was clearly humbled somewhat by the back & forth as well. Not so much, but still. Rollins had the ego of Randy in real life. He should have been fired like Zahra & he's lucky to not have been. Someone bringing up that they make more money than them when talking about talent loses any argument. He acted like a big diva. Usually it's diva Stans on Twitter acting like that.

I don't understand how chris doesn't get what Will is saying when he says he isn't that "unique" in AEW, when Will was coming up 5-7 years ago aew wasn't around and the world saw Wills style as innovate but Will has influenced a ton of wrestlers who are now on TV every week, granted they aren't always as smooth as Will but fans that aren't familiar with Will, will just see another flippy guy. The thing is that Wiill wants to evolve, be the best and stick out from the pack while also saving his body/extending his career.
