At 12:30 you mention that the Hazard icon means you deal an additional encounter card per player. It should actually be one additional encounter card in player order. So in a 2 player game the first player would receive one additional encounter card.
I really enjoy this breakdown. For whatever reason rules on page are harder to understand conceptually than when someone teaches me hahaha. Dont know. But thank you!
Thanks for the video! At 12:07 you mention the cards are placed in the encounters discard pile, but Shadow of the Past mentions you should shuffle it into the encounter deck. What is correct? Also, do Attack cards count as an attack? Can you play them when your hero is exhausted? What about if you are stunned?
Rules on cards like that usually overwrite rules in the Rulebook.(called The Golden Rule) I haven’t played a while, but I believe playing an attack card is just an event card so resolve as normal. I don’t believe being exhausted prevents you from playing cards but I’d check that. You can play attacks while stunned, but it just removes the stun card.
5:56 So to use Tenacity I have to use an action to play it (using 2 resources) and then another action to activate it (using a physical resource and discarding another card)? Or is the "Discard this Card" on Tenacity saying that the card goes from the battlefield onto the discard pile?
Yes, it’s one action to put the upgrade into play spending 2 resources. Then a second ‘hero’ action to activate it spending a physical resource and discarding tenacity to ready your hero.
From memory, LotR is pretty much the same system. Arkham you use resource tokens to play cards rather than discarding cards I think? I like the discarding cards thing.
I've watched this twice now because the comments have been exceedingly useful in answering questions I couldn't find responses too elsewhere. Also because the video is really helpful. I do have a quick question though. I used Spidey's Interrupt once when I was under attack and drew Backflip. Am I allowed to play the card immediately upon drawing it? This is my first LCG and I'm still very confused about a lot of things that the rule books just don't cover. Thanks for the video!
+TheGaymingAvenger hi. Glad I could help. You can play the card. Page 9 in the red box in the Rulebook says you can play an interrupt at any time. Thematically you used your spider sense to sense the attack, then back flipped out the way.
If we defend against an attack we have to exhaust Spider-Man, when do we ready him? After the next player turn? So if we defend we don’t get a thwart or attack next turn, right? This video has been very helpful but this is something I haven’t really been able to get an answer from anywhere.
Hi. That’s correct. You don’t ready until the end phase of your turn so if you defend in the Villain phase your character is exhausted until the end of your next turn. (Rulebook page 14: End of Player Phase Step 3) Thanks for watching!
Well done Tutorial. Got a question too: When i Draw the Obligation Card as a boost Card, ist it given to the Hero too? Or only during the Encounter Phase? Thx
So 1 mistake and 1 thing you omitted.. you said you need to discard an additional card to use tenacity(on top of the physical resource) when you actually discard tenacity. You also didn't tell viewers that when you run out of cards in your deck you deal yourself a facedown encounter card to be revealed when other encounter cards are revealed.. otherwise decent video
Up to 4 players in the core box. You get 5 fully pre constructed heroes and 3 villains in it so you don’t have to build decks yourself if you don’t want to. Also players don’t have to bring their own.
If I'm getting attacked and the boost card has no icon ("I'm Though" for example) in the bottom right does it count as plus zero? And I Ignore the text correct?
Thanks for the quick response on my other question. Have a couple more if you don't mind, If I have to draw an extra boss card because I need to draw from my deck and there's no cards left (thus reshuffling and finally drawing to max hand size) when do I resolve that boss card I drew? Also using my hero's ability doesn't exhaust my hero so I can flip and use both sides of my hero on the same turn correct?
Not sure about the first or ... But you can use the Hero ability, flip then use the Alter-Ego on the same turn. It doesn’t exhaust the character unless stated.
@@JestaThaRogue Found the answer I was looking for if anyone else needs clarification . Rules reference, page 5, Deal, Deal An Encounter Card: If a card ability instructs a player to be dealt an encounter card, the player takes the top card of the encounter deck and places it facedown in front of them. This card is not revealed at this time. This card is added to the queue of cards that player resolves during the villain phase.

In a player turn? You just take any actions shown on page 10, then the next player does the same. Once all players have done that you go to ‘End of Player Phase’ shown on page 14. The player turn isn’t broken down into many steps, just the villain turn.
Thanks for not trying to explain the rules while speed talking! Excellent video!
Thanks Jon!
Great video. Definitely the best "how to play" video for the game. Still helped to watch it at .75 speed and rewind a bunch of times for clarity.
That’s fair :)
The 0.75% speed is a must need here to be able to keep up with the game rules…
Or back 10 seconds
Dude! This is awesome. I didn’t know there was a video like this. Love the time stamps and concise descriptions.
Thank you very much!
I am late to this but thank you! This tutorial has made the most sense out of all the one’s I have watched, I really appreciate it!
Thanks Nicholas! I really appreciate your comment :)
Awesome explanation! Great job! Got a few things wrong the first time playing. This was the perfect help.

Thanks, that's down to me playing this exclusively solo.
Wow. it's been a good long while since i played and didn't want to just read the rulebook again. this was an excellent refresher. great explanation.
Thanks Roy!
Excellent video, was a perfect refresher for me after having not played for a few months!

Best video of its type yet, thanks.

Thank you for the clear overview.
What do you like better -
This or Legendary?
(Despite the fact that one is LCG and the other is Deck Building)
Thanks! I prefer this mostly because there are better deck builders I’d rather play, but this is my fave LCG.

Erm… If I remember just brute force? Push the bigger one into the side that feels more comfortable, then push the smaller one in place.

Thanks! Boost cards are just for their boost icons.

To be fair, they didn't bother to put the deck running out thing in the main rulebook.
How many players can play in 1 box? Do each player have to own their own deck?
Up to 4 players in the core box. You get 5 fully pre constructed heroes and 3 villains in it so you don’t have to build decks yourself if you don’t want to. Also players don’t have to bring their own.

Yep, one of those quite important rules they hid in the reference book rather than the actual rulebook

So the gameplay is just like the Lord of the Rings LCG, only in the Marvel theme. Or am I wrong??

Only played a tiny bit of the LotR LCG on Steam but they’re from the same system I believe. Same publisher and designer so I guess so!
