The Enterprise A was commissioned in 2286. But as to its origins there are three popular explanations across various media: 1) It was a newly built ship that was going to be the USS Atlantis. This explains Scotty saying "This *new* ship was built by monkeys." 2) It was renamed from the USS Yorktown (NCC-1717), which was just finishing its refit. The Yorktown was the last of the original Connies to be refit, hence Scotty lamenting the unfinished state of the ship. The Yorktown was launched prematurely because of the Whale Probe, and we see it dead in the water during the scene in Star Trek IV with the Federation President and ADM Cartwright in the command center where the captain of the ship, played by famous tennis star Vijay Amritraj, is reporting that they lost life support. 3) The ship was another new build named the USS Ti-Ho. I think the most popular explanation is the Yorktown one.
The -A was commissioned in 2286, but the thing is there's no canon explanation for where it came from, it just kinda shows up at the end of Star Trek IV. It's a great scene don't get me wrong; but it doesn't make a ton of sense to build a brand new ship based on a fifteen year old refit of a forty year old design, completely in secret for an Admiral they were fully planning on court marshalling until a few days/weeks ago when he saved their butts from the whale probe, especially when you have newer designs like the Miranda and Constellation already in production. The most common theory is the Ent-A was another Connie refit (sources disagree on which one, I've heard Lexington, Saratoga, and Yorktown all quoted) pulled out of mothballs and given a new name as a PR stunt/ stopgap until an Excelsior-class Enterprise could come about. (Also the Ent-B was launched in '93, not '95)
I really like this series, can't wait for the A+B vs C. Once you're through the progression maybe try one vs two of the preceding model, like two NX vs one Connie, two Connie vs one A, two As vs one B and so on. It should make for more challenging fights in most cases.
3:04 Such a shame about the USS Enterprise B. Since today is Wednesday, they could have used the tractor beam. Unfortunately, since it was so new, nobody had been trained in this new and sophisticated technology. 😿
I saw a interesting ship in the whee hours last night. The USS VANAHEIM, a NX class vessel. It looks very interesting for a new vessel. In the episode I saw it went up against a fleet of 6 Dominion Dreadnought class vessels against 6 Vanaheims. In the end all Dominion Vessels were taken out and 2 Vanaheims remained. I'm curious to see what Retro Badger can do with it
NCC-1701 dash nothing 😄. I probably laughed my butt off when Boimler said that... but then I forgot. I still loved how "starstruck" his character was. I heard that the next season of Strange New Worlds won't be out until next year. 😔 Lower Decks (I've heard) will have a new season this year. Yes, I think that was accurate as well. The B (Excelsior derived) had much superior technology. I'm not sure about the Ambassador class... that might have been when they started making cruise ships or not... but the Excelsior was definitely still built with war in mind.
You have to remember that the original 1701 was starfleet's answer to the Klingon D7 that was under construction. So the original 1701 was a multi-purpose exploration and well-armed Cruiser for the time. Actually, The Shield strength between the 1701 a and the 1701 B would not have been much different at all, as under the FASA game, they both had 20-point Shields. They also both had the same fp4 torpedoes, they could cause up to 20 points of damage each. The only real difference would have been the 1701 B would have had more power from the bigger impulse engines and also they're slightly bigger warp nacelles. However the B would have been much slower than the A, so what I see is a problem in this scenario is that the a somehow looks slower than the Enterprise B. But the fact that the original 1701 and the A working together could blow it up? It is most definitely possible
In the first movie they made a big deal about how the TOS refit had massively upgraded shields. I would be shocked if they had not made structural upgrades too. (I hated that movie. Some of the shots were 12 days long with nothing but slow classical music in the background. Yes, we know that you can do low res CGI space clouds. Do we need to look at them for two weeks?)
I always assumed that the Enterprise A was a rechristened and renamed Connie rather than a new build. So the Enterprise A is probably as old as NCC-1701, but just got an extra refit.
Interesting matchup. I agree that this is an accurate representation of the fight. I was surprised that the first time around the TOS Connie was able to take out the B with your help. The B definitely has the better advantage of being a generation ahead of the other two.
Man the Ai running the older Connie wasnt doing a very good job. If i had be in charge of it id gotten underneath you while you were fighting the Connie-A and took advantage of your weaken keel shields. Good video
I love the TMP-era look. Things like the Miranda and Ent-A are some of the best looking ships. I think the Ent-B took more damage than it should have, given it was the upgraded Excelsior design but I think the second battle is more representative of how such a battle would've gone.
You called the Ent-A the Connie Refit but wasn't the Connie Refit the Ent-Refit like from TMP? I'm just confused a bit because it's labelled Ent-A but in TMP it was just ENT-Refit basically. It hadn't be renamed as A. Not that I remember.
Curious; is there USS Righteous model out there? Not sure how much Enterprise B and Righteous differ from each other, but there should be at least some difference, maybe even worthy of a battle. 🙂
So, will we get an A and B vs C, then a B and C vs D, then C and D vs E, and then D and E vs F? I would say an E and F vs G, but G would get obliterated, I think.
😲I love the Ent B , the size and remember the movie and just saw a short video where it went to warp, beautiful ship.. and Funny Admiral. you said '' Generation'' name of the movie lol.. just saying.. 🤔lol.. a '' Ferrari ram into a Lambo'' horse against a bull.. eeeh. yes I see the image, so would make them '' Ent AB+/-...'' lol . ''Lambogarri, Ferrogini'' .. oh gosh.. sorry.. just saying.. I would say Admiral, the 2nd battle was more accurate.. too bad you didn't try the tractor beam , just to see if it works..lol. and the Ent nothing,.. held out against the Ent B.. wow. surprised.. love the battle Admiral , I too hate seeing Starfleet ships battle but YES.. Romulans.. In my Encounters, oooh love firing everything.. lol. !!😊🖖
The Wrath of Khan phasers just don’t look right on the Enterprise B to me, I suppose we don’t have any canon info on when proper beams returned to Starfleet ships though
The scale of the ships looks off. The Enterprise-B should be almost twice the length of the other two, but during those close passes, they looked like they were more or less the same size.
I think what you really need is someone in the other ship, like does this thing still have multiplayer, as it seems like the AI pulls back and piggyback's on what the player is doing judging by how much the tos enterprise was holding back in the second fight while the first it seemed to be mimicking the player, IE you hammering the crap out of the B, to the point it felt like the B was dead in the water. and yes I know the irony of having the enterprise B as my avatar and then saying that lol as I do like the design, its got a white star line like appeal to it, and is kinda in the lineage the first enterprise to look like it could stand up to a fight given they kinda made the pylons too thin and the neck too far forward and too thin on the refit which I kinda fixed on my model of it that I built, as I always thought the original connie just looked stronger, and it turns out with some light kitbashing of putting another set of the neck and pylons from the same model on it and cutting the prongs on the front of the neck, and drilling it out so it can sit further back, so the neck's not hanging out over the deflector it fixes the design and brings it proportionally more in line with the original connie and easily makes it look as strong as the B, plus I did add an aft torpedo launcher, as I always thought it weird that they made a ship without that, under that round section where the shuttlebay is and added an aft phaserbank just where the spot is between the bridge and the impulse engines as that just always bugged the crap out of me that they left a hardpoint open like that, which makes me wish I could have some build the thing in 3D so I can play with it now lol

In maritime lore, it's very unlucky to rechristen a ship to a new name. Which, I think, is why the Enterprise-A had so many problems in the movies.
Seeing the OG Enterprise finishing off the B like that was such a plot armor Kirk move.
Kirk always did come off like a kill stealer.

Constitution Refit is my all time favourite starfleet ship!
The TOS era phaser sound is what let the Connie destroy the B

That enterprise A model really nails the phaser look, where its still a beam but it's got pulses running through it.
Nice fight! Here's a cross-universe idea: CSS Worldrazer vs Terran Galaxy X

My only question is... Is it after Tuesday? The Enterprise B had a lot of things being installed Tuesday. 😆
Excellent video! I too LOVE the Constitution class (Nothing...lol.. Or A). The match was a fun watch! My thanks.
Must have caught the Enterprise B after Tuesday.

You already knew the player controlled 2v1 would be an easy victory since the recent 1v1 of the A vs the B had the player controlled A win.
2:22 it looks like the torpedo just bounced off.
HAHA! Whooooa! That's a near illusion. I think it hit and the A fired at the same time! 😲
Now that was shocking....I mean the B should have just shrugged them off.

I imagine the torpedos might actually be the same type considering it does take time to upgrade weapon types
Hey, Excelsior didn't lose warp nacelles :) So they fix that problem.....
🤣🤣
2 connie refits 1701 and 1701a would have made a difference.
The B was 2293, I believe.
Brilliant!
Even though some people don’t like the excelsior, i think it looks actually really cool, the nacelles suck tho
How about the Ent-B vs the 5 M-5 Connie’s from the game “Shattered Universe “?
The original enterprise got a amazing win in the beginning 😆❤
Why so few battles lately?
All three are great enterprise ships

Could you do any enterprise vs Orville thanks
There is no Orville ship in BC. At least not yet..
I am officially making a fan request. Galaxy X Enterprise D and Enterprise E vs the Enterprise F. That's a generational battle worthy of being made.

Maybe. But its a fight I'd love to see.

Ent B doesn't have arrays on the hull. Ent C may be the first
Admit it retro the original conni impressed you.

I just did this battle, was to easy surprisingly

and yes I know the irony of having the enterprise B as my avatar and then saying that lol as I do like the design, its got a white star line like appeal to it, and is kinda in the lineage the first enterprise to look like it could stand up to a fight
given they kinda made the pylons too thin and the neck too far forward and too thin on the refit
which I kinda fixed on my model of it that I built, as I always thought the original connie just looked stronger, and it turns out with some light kitbashing of putting another set of the neck and pylons from the same model on it
and cutting the prongs on the front of the neck, and drilling it out so it can sit further back, so the neck's not hanging out over the deflector it fixes the design and brings it proportionally more in line with the original connie
