Clouded Leopards are native to Southeast Asia, not India.
It's like harsher than a meow but softer than a growl. Really hope these midsize kitties make it through. 😊

Well clouded leopard is the most genetically diverse Felidae/cats the oldest genetics distant that still living today.. the closest one to the ancestors of saber tooth which where all big/mid/small cat originates
Considering they made it for 9 million years as a species, the longest of any living cat family, I hope so too. They are a living fossil 😢

@@Firstnameunknownfr I'd say the cutest cat is Rusty Spotted Cat (the smallest cat in the world). You just wanna keep them in your pocket all the time. haha
Don't forget about the snow leopards that are only found in the Indian Himalayas and exist in very less numbers. They are so less in numbers that they were once thought to be a myth just like the yetis (also because of their great camouflage and remote habitat).

They are cute, with their eyes and nose clouded-leopards, but in the wild of course
People are calling them cute, what they fail to realize is pound for pound Clouded Leopards have a biteforce equivalent to a jaguar and they have the largest canines among all felines proportional to their body size.
Thanks for that amazing info. However, they are still beautiful animals. We find them cute because we are "nurturers" and not merely "fact" based thinkers. As for the info, like i said at the start it is much appreciated. I personally am learning more about big cats , so thanks.

@@violetlove1893 Oh ! ...that's just a stereotypical image that you have ......Just type 'Wild Karnataka trailer' and you'll know the diversity of flora and fauna that we have in just one single state of Karnataka ....India was a big tropical jungle but sudden rise in the population due to poverty and illiteracy lead to the destruction of those ancient forests ... We are planning to afforestate 33% of our country's land mass by 2030, let's hope we can revive the forests again.
During last 2 decades, afforestation occurred in large numbers in India. Indian tigers and lions have increased in population. India is in path of sustainable development, being a signatory of Paris climate deal. India is investing in solar energy and electric vehicles.

@@shortcut7325 There are two distinct subspecies - the mainland one and the Sunda subspecies. The Sunda is the one found in Sumatra and Borneo.

Clouded leopards are cool animals they are mainly found in dense vegetation but could sometimes be found in more open areas too they hunt small deer and other small mammals and they are known to regularly kill monkeys like languars
Cats are also very emotional like human.

Beautiful cats. However, in my opinion before these cats are released to the wild, they have to be taught to fear humans . If they don't fear humans, the risk of getting hunted by poachers are high. Cats have excellent hearing and they can hear human footsteps far away. Their paws can feel the vibrations and gravity on the ground. They should avoid any human contact as much as possible and not come to investigate at all. The fact they are friendly towards humans are bad for their species survival as humans are apex predators in the modern world.
There is need of documentary on India's Asiatic Lions, Snow leopard & clouded leopard.
Little is known about them.

The Felinae species and gene are clearly the most agile and athletic. Considering cheetahs speed, cougars leaping and climbing agility, clouded leopards have clearly inherited the athleticism.
Imagine a Felinae size of a lion.
Asiatic Lions, Tigers, clouded leopard, (black) leopard, Snow leopard, caracol, Lynx & many more cat species.

It is very sad how they are being wiped out by poachers. Where my brother lives in Thailand he has a family of them that lives an plays in his back yard. They are so very friendly they are. Which is not really a good thing.

Weird method to make them adapt to wild conditions.. despite their mother's unavailability they should've been provided something from cat (leopard) family to teach them few tricks to survive in the wild.

Clouded Leopard is one of the only 6 pantherines on earth, though not a panthera like lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, and snow leopard, they're very close related.
And ancestrally the first modern cat to branch off from their earlier ancestors.
