And (3) RUclips, I think, still has the most user-friendly playback interface (showing you thumbnails as you scrub through the video and remembering where you left off on a video, etc.), and competitors' interfaces are still not user-friendly in a lot of respects.
Imagine that, a billion dollar company making more money for themselves by not paying the content creators fairly. I feel for you, their success is dependent on others to create something they do not have.
Tyler, I was totally demonetized for 10 months for reuse, which I never did. I feel your pain, it's ridiculous. Your rant was great. I eventually just bit the bullet and deleted nearly all my content and started over again. I felt sick for months, but there is not much that can be done. Hang in there.
I can't believe you were completely demonetized! Glad you figured it out even if it took a while. I'm hoping that the issue can be solved without me having to create a whole new channel.
I was demonetized for 5 years for "reused content" which I did and in 2019 they got rid of my monetization. Even though it was TOTALLY FINE from 2014-2019. I lost a friend, due to complications in our friendship, we were not on the same page. Then, My grandparents passed away 3 /12 years apart. Covid happened and It was the HARDEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!! how did I get it back after 5 years? I made more original videos, got very busy hanging out with my dad and messing around with Radio transmitters, that I had no time to work on videos. I didn't post for 3 months, I reapplied, hoping in vain that my monetization would be back. And the AFTER 5-6 LONG YEARS, I FINALLY GOT MY MONETIZATION BACK!!! I was SO happy that day.
It’s a sobering reminder about how they can rip the rug out from underneath and have no accountability to even explain why. Keep the faith @antennaman, you do great work!
IF YT is just doing this to cut down on what they HAVE to pay out... Sounds like a grounds for a class action lawsuit. Might speak with some attorneys.
Sorry to hear that. You are a hero and have a great channel! Have never had anything other than OTA. Served on on our local TV board (GCMETREC) founded exclusively for providing OTA here in our western Colorado town. Sadly, board has been hijacked by members that want to do away with OTA. I'm 72 now, rescued a 1940s RCA set from my grandparents basement in 1961. Had that in my bedroom for years!. Good luck.
You sound like my dad...If Katrina had not hit, he would have still had all those black-and-white TV's (whether they worked or not) and radios still in the house!
@@ebinrock Sounds like a great guy! Lots of radios here, too. Love listening to AM long distance at night. Also CB license early 1970s, GMRS and Amateur (Ham) licensed. Built my first crystal radio set in 1958. Thanks for sharing!
My RUclips channel also got hit with 'invalid traffic' and way less monetizing. Sad thing, if RUclips can 'detect' invalid traffic on our channels, why can't they tell us what they detect, or fix it themselves?
Unfortunately Alphabet doesn't care about content creators unless they are in the top 15%. I can't do patreon but I did paypal you a donation sir. Good luck!
I doubt it. Cable companies focus is on high speed internet services. They see the writing on the wall for cable TV & don't care. That said, perhaps broadcasters would be concerned as people ditch cable TV, but I don't think they are concerned about Tylers channel with so few subscribers.
I feel for ya, dude. I'm not a content creator like yourself, but Google had the audacity to completely block my RUclips account for absolutely no legit reason. I tried to recover it through their appeal process, but the ban was upheld with no details whatsoever. Hopefully you get some ad payments restored. Best of luck to you
RUclips has definitely gone downhill recently. Outside of the issue I'm dealing with, I see that creators have had to severely sensor themselves to not say very basic PG words like kill or pornography.
"Here's how to not have to subscribe to RUclipsTV" is basically how they view OTA content. Hosting your videos is in direct conflict with a major revenue source for them.
Back in November of 2022 a lot of people including myself started getting 1/3 of what they earned the prior month. It actually happened over night. Things we OK November 14th but on the 15th there was a huge drop in ad revenue. Keep in mind in November the ad revenue is supposed to go up (not down) because of Christmas and Thanks Giving. RUclips did not say anything about illegal traffic being the issue back then. The techs at RUclips had no idea what was the cause other than to say ad revenue fluctuates. I understand the ad revenue fluctuates but this was a big hit with no valid explanation in a 24 hour period. I went from a $18.00 CPM to a $6.00 CPM in a 24 hour period. It kept dropping for about 30 days until it stopped at $2.65. My CPM is still at $2.65.
You're a favorite RUclipsr, and I hate that you have to deal with the worst, most underhanded treatment that RUclips is capable of towards its creators. Might be time to consider one of the RUclips alternatives.
Seriously, you'd think a large website like RUclips would have an actual support team, but nope, they just have shitty bots that just give you unhelpful responses. I've seen people deal with it on Twitch (like DankPods and his Drum Streams), and I've dealt with it on Discord, hell Discord's probably the worst because their account recovery team got mostly laid off. The tech industry right now is just horrible, and too much focus is being placed on maximizing profits rather than actually helping people, and yes, Google is a monopoly.
If you're the right gender/skin tone/sexual preference and hold the right political ideaology, you're in. If you're the wrong gender/skin tone/sexual preference/political ideology, you're S.O.L.
I'm beginning to think that RUclips or someone at RUclips doesn't like cord cutters because youtube may be making revenue from the cable channels. And they are deliberately trying to get rid of the cable cutter channels because it interferes with their other source of revenue.
Just a wild idea to throw out there. My work's IP block was unknown to Google for some reason and some of their servers wouldn't respond. But services still worked good enough and RUclips worked. Perhaps there's more traffic from improperly tagged IP addresses or through VPN services that are on a bad list.
I personally don't think anyone should rely on Adsense for a paycheck. That check could be gone next month in the blink of an eye for something you never did. No, it's way better to grow your own email list so you can make affiliate commissions without relying on something that clearly cannot be relied on.
The video with the interview with the sation owner in Oregon was a good one. RUclips either give this man a clear explanation of what exactly is going on and how to fix it, or correct his channel status!!
I'll be reposting that video next week. I didn't want to take it down in the first place but when I saw a chunk of views originating from a foreign country, I had no choice.
Comes down to their money. You're rather clear and objective (you do what a scientist does ... you say "it was found" for your experiments, and "I think" for your opinions ... totally reasonable). So when you say something not liked by some corporate sponsor, I expect YT hears about it.
This feels like pure fraud on YTs part, effectively stealing money back from their large creators. Putting the onus on you to fix a problem they don't even prove exists that's out of your control, and without even having the tools to do so. 2 words: CLASS. ACTION.
I feel your pain bro. I hope you get your channel monetized fully again and high estimated revenue as well. In my view i think youtube knows what they're doing but that is not fair if you get strike by something you didn't even do. I hope the best for every creator out there. Peace❤
Sadly, we need Congress to pass a law (sigh). RUclips is notorious for NOT telling viewers which comment on which video got deleted for violation of the rules. They penalize channels (like this one) without specifically telling the creators where the problems are. RUclips is a source of full time income for millions of people. We really need to have a law passed forcing transparency because obviously, RUclips doesn’t have the desire to do it without being told to.
Watching your own videos on a 300k sub channel should have no statistical impact on traffic count. I only have about 1.7K subs and watch my own videos to make sure they look OK and I didn't make editing mistakes or whatever and there's no real difference statistically. So something else is going on. Sorry to hear about this antenna man. YT needs a good whack with an antenna.
All reasonable gripes, but at the end of the day you are not a YT's employee, so technically they don't have to pay you - or anyone else - anything. My channel was demonetized for half a year. I saw some patterns of watch times on my videos that made me think YT jiggles views to prevent paying too much.
Ironically this gave me a flashback to 2012 when I made 4 pennies on a video to have them take the pennies away because of the same reason. Sad days that 12 years later SSDD.
Shame, shame, SHAME on YT!!! Tyler has every right to be frustrated and shouldn't have to even post this video, as he is an honest creator of content and is serving his viewers in a responsible manner. What in the world is going on here!
Also, have you tried to uncheck the ability to embed your RUclips videos on other websites? I do that for almost every video, because I think I heard that helps, too. I wish there was a way to do it en masse.
I'm sorry about this, man. I would consider alternative revenue streams. Get channel sponsors, and upload to Rumble, Twitter and Instagram, and try build a strong community over there as well. This is exactly why relying only on one revenue stream is a bad idea, as it can be gone tomorrow.
I do have other sources of revenue but the channel was a decent chunk, and cutting it by 50% will really impact it. For example, I may spend $100 on an antenna with the hope that ads from the video bring in $150. With the 50% cut, it's no longer feasible.
@@AntennaMan I hear you, man. Again, I'm sorry. But RUclips is not a secure income. If they don't feel like they need us anymore, we're gone. RUclips is trying to become the next cable TV. So guys like you and Michael telling people to cut the cord, hurts their bottom line. I believe that might be the real reason behind this. So again, if I was you, I'd work on building a solid following on all these other platforms.
Ridiculous! I swear that Google is doing this to every successful channel. Yours, and Michael Saves, are just two of several of my favorite channels that are dealing with this unfair practice. They are using all kind of vague reasons to stop paying and they are doing so with impunity. What recourse is there?
hate to hear about this…I’m currently trying to build up my youtube channel and this is definitely something that concerns me. Hang in there! Hopefully it will get resolved for you. I really appreciate all your videos and help when it comes to off air TV. Thank you!
Sorry to hear this. I mostly watch independent political news and commentary YT channels. Many of them have also experienced demonetization issues and, even with millions of subscribers, they face the same roadblocks as you when attempting to get answers and resolve issues.
Looks like RUclips doesn't want anyone to know and are HAPPY no one is able to figure it out so they can keep doing it. If only someone from the inside would expose this.
@@AntennaMan You are dealing with a robot. They scan your question for keywords and sent you a canned answer. I saw another channel with several videos explaining the lengths they went to in order to get a human to actually read their question. I wish I could remember what they did but it involved making it very hard for the robot.
Need to look through the videos and look for IP's with a lot of views. The source or redirect isn't what triggers it. It is often things like a high percentage of views from one IP address or a small subnet. One of the biggest triggers is people using VPN, if say 20 people log into a specific VPN provider then their IP as logged by RUclips will be the same (or within the same small subnet). One other small possibility is if you make someone mad they can hire a bot to drive traffic to your channel to cause you to get demonetized... RUclips needs a better resolution department for creators. You may also want to consider creating a channel on Rumble or one of the other youtube competitors.

Nice vent but welcome to the Google controlled Internet. Business have been greatly damaged by Google "tweaking" their search engine results too. Gotta have some thick skin and expect sudden changes at any time. Maybe start installing antennas locally again (part-time as a backup).
Lordy, you are not the first youtube creator to bring up this issue. I saw it first with historian channels that had content on weapons and armor. They felt there should be a legal agreement of employment since creators were essentially employees of youtube.I'm not a lawyer but there should be a more firm agreement if people are basing their income on their content. Many have relied on patreon, merch and sponsors.
Went through a similar issue with RUclips Support trying to get my channels restored after they were insisting that I had circumvented...SOMETHING. I had to wrestle with them for two years to get that much out of them because they would not tell me why they flat out removed a channel of mine. After telling me they couldn't tell me what specific TOS rule I broke, they seemed to let it slip that they thought I had a previously terminated channel when I never had a channel terminated before that one (which only contained two gameplay videos that were also present on my main channel, showing there was nothing present in them that could have caused them to get looked at). Either another person who had the same name I did at the time had their channel terminated and they thought I was that person, or some previous copyright issues made them think that my channel that I still used was terminated and someone forgot to clear the memos. Either way, the Support team can use some work: forever in a hurry to get done with the conversation, as they repeatedly asked me if I was still there despite having to see that I was in the middle of typing a response, but in no hurry to change their minds no matter how much evidence you give to them that you're in the right, as if they don't even look at what you gave them. Hope things work out for you in the end, though, as they untimely did for me. Ridiculous how many hoops you have to go through in order to get someone to take any creator's matter seriously.
Put a PayPal, Cash App & Zelle link & many will send support that way. Patreon is blocked in some countries unless you use a paid VPN as free ones are abused. You are a good man Tyler -Cheers from a ex Pocono resident.

And (3) RUclips, I think, still has the most user-friendly playback interface (showing you thumbnails as you scrub through the video and remembering where you left off on a video, etc.), and competitors' interfaces are still not user-friendly in a lot of respects.
Odysee?
We do have an option; don’t watch!
The DuckDuckGo people tell us to watch Vevo to avoid the tracking software and cookies.
This is unacceptable and I am convinced that it is Google doing so intentionally to reduce RUclips payments to creators.
Creators who speak their mind get buried. Mindless boot lickers and influencers get pushed to the top. U weel eet z bugz.
Imagine that, a billion dollar company making more money for themselves by not paying the content creators fairly. I feel for you, their success is dependent on others to create something they do not have.
Trillion dollar company
RUclips profits from streaming TV networks. Your videos encourage people to get TV from Antenna directly impacting RUclips’s profits.
they know where the invalid traffic is coming from as its a known fact that they can follow the source of the views
exactly!
Thanks! I’m sorry man you’re a good guy and you and content are very much appreciated!
Thanks so much for the contribution!
COME ON RUclips!!
Get it together and help out!!
It’s a sobering reminder about how they can rip the rug out from underneath and have no accountability to even explain why. Keep the faith @antennaman, you do great work!
Even if you decide to stay with RUclips , consider mirroring your content to other platforms and getting your own website.
Best wishes and God bless!
My guess is they want to cut costs to appease the shareholders and are just giving bs reasons.
@@robertbeda959 I thought CB didn't require a license.
@@ebinrock In the early 1970's, it did...
Good luck!
Cable companies are probably behind this.
They're mad about your message.
Follow the money.
And, dish companies as well.
I doubt it. Cable companies focus is on high speed internet services. They see the writing on the wall for cable TV & don't care. That said, perhaps broadcasters would be concerned as people ditch cable TV, but I don't think they are concerned about Tylers channel with so few subscribers.
Hope you get this resolved. Tyler helped me find a great antenna for my home.
Thanks! Maybe they will notice
I am so sorry that you are going through this… I hope it gets resolved soon!
Me too. Thanks for watching.
I feel for ya, dude. I'm not a content creator like yourself, but Google had the audacity to completely block my RUclips account for absolutely no legit reason. I tried to recover it through their appeal process, but the ban was upheld with no details whatsoever. Hopefully you get some ad payments restored. Best of luck to you
YT is a joke
YT from late 2005-2014 is better
@@RaysGamingChannel2003 And, when did the CIA gets its backdoor controls into Google (aka YT)?
Its always been a joke especially with its censorship in the comment sections
How does being a communist function...huh...got a taste.
We support you!
I know you do, and I greatly appreciate it.
*Creators need to create their own video platform that makes actions like this transparent and offers an appeal process*
:( We love your channel. So sick of these sites abusing creators.
Sounds like the creators need to get together and possibly make a legal case out of this! This angers me for everyone this is happening to! 😡

@@Fetherko This.
@@Fetherko Yeah, I second this, not a bad idea actually!
I'm beginning to think that RUclips or someone at RUclips doesn't like cord cutters because youtube may be making revenue from the cable channels. And they are deliberately trying to get rid of the cable cutter channels because it interferes with their other source of revenue.
Are you on Rumble?
Just a wild idea to throw out there. My work's IP block was unknown to Google for some reason and some of their servers wouldn't respond. But services still worked good enough and RUclips worked. Perhaps there's more traffic from improperly tagged IP addresses or through VPN services that are on a bad list.
You are an advocate for access to media without paying subscriptions that contravenes the advertisers who pay Google to get them more subscribers.
I personally don't think anyone should rely on Adsense for a paycheck. That check could be gone next month in the blink of an eye for something you never did. No, it's way better to grow your own email list so you can make affiliate commissions without relying on something that clearly cannot be relied on.
Perfectly said. 👍
Time for all YT creators to get together with a Class Action Lawsuit. Do it.
Great idea? I'm not a creator, but I would sign on to it if I could
The video with the interview with the sation owner in Oregon was a good one. RUclips either give this man a clear explanation of what exactly is going on and how to fix it, or correct his channel status!!
I'll be reposting that video next week. I didn't want to take it down in the first place but when I saw a chunk of views originating from a foreign country, I had no choice.
@@AntennaMan when you repost put it through and Editor and change it a bit, and change the title and thumbnail.
Comes down to their money. You're rather clear and objective (you do what a scientist does ... you say "it was found" for your experiments, and "I think" for your opinions ... totally reasonable). So when you say something not liked by some corporate sponsor, I expect YT hears about it.
ThemTube needs a class action lawsuit
This feels like pure fraud on YTs part, effectively stealing money back from their large creators. Putting the onus on you to fix a problem they don't even prove exists that's out of your control, and without even having the tools to do so. 2 words: CLASS. ACTION.
Antenna Man of all people???
Hi Tyler, I’m sorry this is happening to you and your channel. You’ve been a great advocate for over the air television -wishing you the best.
Time to start looking for a new platform. RUclips is getting worse and worse, you deserve better!
ALL OF US deserve better than RUclips.
Also, have you tried to uncheck the ability to embed your RUclips videos on other websites? I do that for almost every video, because I think I heard that helps, too. I wish there was a way to do it en masse.
I didn't. That's a great suggestion!
Create your own line of antennas and pitch them on QVC. Aren't they right down the road from you in PA?
@@AntennaMan I hear you, man. Again, I'm sorry. But RUclips is not a secure income. If they don't feel like they need us anymore, we're gone. RUclips is trying to become the next cable TV. So guys like you and Michael telling people to cut the cord, hurts their bottom line. I believe that might be the real reason behind this. So again, if I was you, I'd work on building a solid following on all these other platforms.
YT should have to tell you exactly what you did wrong and how to correct it. Leaving you in the dark is unprofessional.
Antenna Man, You're so talented! I had to hit the like button!
Ridiculous! I swear that Google is doing this to every successful channel. Yours, and Michael Saves, are just two of several of my favorite channels that are dealing with this unfair practice. They are using all kind of vague reasons to stop paying and they are doing so with impunity. What recourse is there?
They always get the good people every time. It must mean you're on the right track.
Would Rumble be an option for a second revenue stream?
Class . . . action . . . suit
hate to hear about this…I’m currently trying to build up my youtube channel and this is definitely something that concerns me. Hang in there! Hopefully it will get resolved for you. I really appreciate all your videos and help when it comes to off air TV. Thank you!
You're a good man. I watch you videos all the time.
Sorry to hear this. I mostly watch independent political news and commentary YT channels. Many of them have also experienced demonetization issues and, even with millions of subscribers, they face the same roadblocks as you when attempting to get answers and resolve issues.
As a Premium member of RUclips I demand justice! I joined your RUclips and encourage anyone with $2 a month to help support this excellent creator.
Looks like RUclips doesn't want anyone to know and are HAPPY no one is able to figure it out so they can keep doing it. If only someone from the inside would expose this.
That's messed up, RUclips 😡.
Have you considered another platform or is it too much trouble/expensive?
Google needs to sell RUclips. They suck keeping it up.
Funny how they are demonitizing your videos but I had to watch a Google Pixel ad before I watched this video!
HELP IS ON THE WAY
At this point, my viewers appear to be the only ones who can help me. RUclips support has been pretty much useless.
@@AntennaMan You are dealing with a robot. They scan your question for keywords and sent you a canned answer. I saw another channel with several videos explaining the lengths they went to in order to get a human to actually read their question. I wish I could remember what they did but it involved making it very hard for the robot.
One piece of advice I have to all content creators. Don't fully quit your day job to depend on ad revenue.
Any idea if Rumble is also an option?
Rumble is an option. I'm looking into how videos are monetized on the site.
@@AntennaMan Use that in addition to YT.
I'm sorry to hear this. I enjoy your channel and I AM a "real" person watching.
That’s a load of 💩. They are nothing without their creators.

I feel for you, You Tube is to big. There needs a alternative.
Absolutely ridiculous. I saw Lon post your video on X detailing this after I followed his own issues too. Hope you can get it resolved soon.
I don't pay for you tube videos. But I will be sure to like and comment on all future videos.
I completely understand. I appreciate the support.
Sorry you have these problems i find the information very useful
Thanks. I feel that the information I provide is extremely useful for the millions of Americans that rely on an antenna for local channels.
Put a PayPal, Cash App & Zelle link & many will send support that way. Patreon is blocked in some countries unless you use a paid VPN as free ones are abused. You are a good man Tyler -Cheers from a ex Pocono resident.
