The Caravanserai In Kuşadası Brings History To Life

A Caravanserai or Karavan Saray is most likely one of the most inspiring places you can visit. A Caravanserai was a roadside inn where travelers could rest and recover from the day's journey. Standing inside I look around to take it in and my imagination takes over. I smell the food, hear the clatter of utensils, a laugh or an argument.
The Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai is located in Kuşadası, Aydın Province. It was built by Ottoman statesman and military commander "Öküz" Mehmed Pasha (died 1619)

We visited here in the summer. A beautiful building, nothing happening in it at the time. The doors are very low, they must have been shorter people at the time it was built. My husband nearly knocked himself out as he was wearing a hat and didnt see how low the doorway was!
