i'm back in my teen's whenever i listen to A-HA 🙂 it brings back so many good memories of my teen years 🥲 those were the days where real legends were doing their very best for us..... RESPECT !
I agree with you 1000 % and I like music from all generations I listen to everything from Christina Aguilera to Pat benatar and there are some good singers and songs out now . One of my favorites is a song called Brave but I also think we had more variety and better songs back then .
That Norwegians supposedly can't make good pop music, 'A-Ha' have provided convincing evidence to the contrary. The band's Paul Waaktaar-Savoy said, ... we wrote "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", that Andrew Wickham's secretary felt was a hit. She convinced him to make room for it. When we recorded it, we were really sick with influenza. Magne and Morten were lying in the studio on camping beds with high fevers. The bass line for the song was performed using a Yamaha DX7. Other synthesizers include PPG Wave, Roland Juno-60 and sampled instruments. The oboe during the song was played on a sampler. "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." was released in autumn 1985, becoming the second successful single from Hunting High and Low and one of the band's most recognisable and popular songs. The song peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also went Top 5 in Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, as well as in the band's home country of Norway. The single reached number one in Ireland and on the UK Singles Chart which was a higher chart position there than for "Take On Me". Tim DeGravine of AllMusic later wrote of the song, "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." is just as thrilling [as "Take on Me"]. Starting as a sad ballad, it explodes into something much more, as chugging guitars and operatic synths keep pace with Harket's evocative vocal stylings. If ever a 1980s song qualified as Wall of Sound, "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." would be it. There are two versions of the extended mix. The first UK release is 7:09, it starts with a slow piano intro, while the second one is the commonly known remix by Steve Thompson. (Dass Norweger angeblich keine gute Popmusik machen können, dafür haben `A-Ha` in überzeugender Manier den Gegenbeweis angetreten. Tim DeGravina von Allmusic sagte zu dem Lied: ‚The Sun Always Shines on T.V.‘ ist genauso spannend [wie ‚Take On Me‘]. Es beginnt emotional, dann knallt es mit Gitarren und Synthesizern, und das mit Harkets eindrucksvollem Gesangsstil. Wenn je ein 1980er-Song den Wall of Sound darstellen würde, dann ‚The Sun Always Shines on T.V.‘“ - Tim DeGravina: AllMusic. I'm jealous I'm only a year younger but missed alot of good music because so much came out at one time in the mid 80s - I still think 1983 - 1987 are the best years for music ever.

i get why you feel that way, but the truth is we had just as much terrible music in the 70s and 80s as we do now. ever heard of donny osmand, the captain and tonile, the cutting crew, rick dees, Starland vocal band? there was some awful music back then. the reason people only remember the good stuff from back then is that we all want to look back fondly on our own generation's music. one day, the shit of todays music will be forgotten leaving only the few great songs, just like the 70s and 80s.
What? The beat actually runs at a really quick tempo,, what you talking about?! This isn't one of those scabby street 'songs' made using a couple of tin cans and bits of plastic
Well to be honest with everybody there has always been terrible music as well as good music, for example in my opinion A-ha have beautiful songs and beautiful voices and Bros have whiny and incoherent voices and all the chords in their songs are wrong.
