Natural World: Weasels - Feisty & Fearless
Members of the weasel family are often portrayed as the villains of the natural world, but do they deserve this reputation? By following the adventures of a tiny orphaned weasel named Twiz, this film reveals the true nature of these pocket-sized predators, which relative to their size have a bite more powerful than a tiger's. In Yorkshire, a unique garden rigged with over 50 cameras gives a rare insight into the dramatic life of a mother stoat as she tries to raise her first family. And new science uncovers the problem-solving abilities of the honey badger, the secrets behind the ferret's legendary flexibility, and the remarkable sense of smell of the wolverine. Together, using their extraordinary skills, this feisty and fearless family have conquered the planet.

Stoffel is now 25 years old. A honebadger lives for around 24yrs so you may think he's a fragile old man on his deathbed. But it's Stoffel, he can escape death.
And also he has a son, Stompy, to carry his legacy forward.
He's only two years younger than me!
@@CoreyMillionaire2029 same haha
He's older than me😂
Thank you for this update!!
Stompy, son of Stoffel
I see honey badgers, I click
I wanna know if this was an accident or if it is repeatable, then, if it is repeatable, whether they manage it faster than the first time.
Also, combining a wooden bar and rope mechanism, both of them.
@@hansolowe19 it's very much repeatable honey badgers are well recognized for not just being "smart" but also for using tools
ruclips.net/video/c36UNSoJenI/видео.html
Honey badger escaping *several* times
@@hansolowe19 not only is it repeatable, it appears that they are also able to communicate to a degree. Stoffel managed to coordinate with a female to open two latches simultaneously in order to escape
I see big brain
I click
@@hansolowe19 search stoffel the honey badger. That little guy escaped a 100 times and every time he solved the problem of breaking out like an 8 year old. Crazy.
Its Stoffel, the honey badger who escapes his pen all the time just for fun. There's another video on him and his amazing methods of escape. He's truly a legend.
they clearly mentioned its stoffels son

Go stoffel!
They literally said its his son🤦♂️ stoffel is 26 now, and badgers live till 25 typically so he old old
The absolute coolest thing I ever learned is that when baby Cheetahs are 1st born they have evolved to mimic the look of a Honey Badger. This is because the Mum is forced to leave them alone while she hunts for food. So the babies have a silver strip down their backs so that predators mistake them for H.B's and stay far, far away! Ain't nature the coolest shit ever!...lol...
Wow. I didn't know that. Nature is the best.
Ya I'm with Ba. Didnt know.
I'm somewhat doubt that.
God’s amazing isn’t He?
Yeah, it almost seems like nature is somehow intelligent
These are scary-ass animals. They're tough as hell and smart as hell. Their skin is so flexible, it's almost impossible for other animals to bite vital organs. They have glands that produce a horrible smell. Pretty much every animal on the savannah leaves them the hell alone. It's been hypothesized that baby cheetahs' ridge of light-colored hair on top of darker hair is Batesian mimicry. From a distance, they look like honey badgers and predators are like, "Ah, hell naw!"
I remember watching a doc on them and they showed footage of giraffes and lions running away from honey badgers. I wonder how rhino's like them...
You've got to be tough to survive in Africa
except for crocodiles, that skin won't save them from being drowned or swallowed whole. but at the same time honey badgers rarely need to drink pure water so croc interactions aren't too common.
thanks that's interesting
I saw one where it fought a pack of lions for 6 hours! It eventually died ☹️ but still! Had the honeybadger had sharper teeth, and sharper claws, and if they were a bit bigger. Some lions would’ve gotten murdered.
When I first saw this I thought “is this stoffel?!” But it’s his son! Love those pesky honey badgers, stoffel’s lineage is going to take over the world!
Yeah i recognized it was the same owner
It his som this time
Hope I live to see it fr
Most memorable one was him and his partner that keeps escaping the enclosure until the guy didn't know what to do with them anymore because they are so smart
I think the badgers name was Stoffle
@@ljmack3625 Yes, these badgers are owned by the same guy. At the beginning of this video they mention that these are Stoffle's children.
@@ljmack3625 yes stoffles was in this vid too
@@ljmack3625 yes it stoffel and one of the two involved in this experiment was stoffels son and the man talking is stoffels owner.
There was even a scene of a badger dancing in that episode
4:30 he sounds unimpressed because he watched stoffel do this every single day to escape his cage.
Fun fact: Octopuses are known to use “tools” to aid them with avoiding predators. If the Octopus knows it’s going to an open area with little to know rocks/coral etc it knows it will be vulnerable and will bring an empty coconut shell with it to hide inside of like a portable shelter. This not only shows their ability to use tools, but proves they have foresight and actually think ahead about what they’re doing…crazy intelligent
If only they lived after reproducing and thus pass on what they have learned to their young ones.
Yes I have seen documentaries on octopuses intelligence they are amazing little creatures . It is sad when female octopuses are brooding their eggs they don't eat for 40 days ( 5 months ) she just sits there and guards them until they hatch and then she dies .
@@xirsixussien7303 so all ocotopus dies after reproducing ?
Crows drop nuts from traffic lights,
car crushes nuts,
crow waits for allclear sound for the blind and flies down to opened nuts.
Magpies crows and ravens can also use tools like sticks to get their grubs easily from a tree.
1:37 I just love how he stared at her and how she congratulated him on figuring it out 😂
@@JNL37Dyxce5 shut up
“Well done, Sir”… yeah that was funny!
I love the way they strut when they walk. Like they are saying "uh huh, that's right, I'm bad"
3:47 that jump the honey badger does accurately describes my attempts to be successful at life
yea, they can do a lot, but apparently jumping's not one of them :)
These creatures are possibly my favourite of all animals. Their little canter when the trot along, so much confidence.
Yeah me too, along the way with Orcas
Brian is secretly training a special team of honeybadgers 😂🤣😂
This is stoffel? Legend. They're so fearless even death doesn't come near him.
"Honeybagers are living, breathing black airforces"
-A wise man
@plentyness they're the sneakers of choice for violent and questionable people/deeds so a walking, breathing air force is violence itself lol
So hood nature.🤨
Stoffel already solved those sort of problems on a regular basis escaping from his pen.....
Honey Badger attempts jump 3:47 is my new favorite Honey Badger move. We can’t be great at everything.
This guy and his owner is my favorite nature show animal. I could watch this hot mess of a badger all day. So funny and cunning!
Yea Stoffel. One of the Moholoholo volunteers said he was in his late 20’s. I was surprised they live so long
@@RobertSmith-le8wp They only live that long in captivity. They die pretty early in the wild.
@@martabachynsky8545 yeah because they make decisions like choosing to attack a coalition of lions haha. those ballsy little guys are too ballsy for their own good
They are smart but it’s their sheer determination that makes them so successful
That is one smart Badger. Reminds me of the Wolverine who gave me that smile of theirs. teeth and claws. Northern Alberta 1980
Me thinking my dog is great for lying down for treats
Honey badgers using tools🙀
Can ur dog use tools 🤔
Trust me dogs know how to use things to their advantage. I've had a tray of deli slices out on the table, all the chairs were pushed in tight. My dog managed to get his butt under the table to push a chair out, climbed back out from underneath, jumped into the chair and snagged the whole tray. Deli slices all over the floor and a very happy boy proud of his accomplishment snacking away.
@@7ona that’s the goodest of boys
Stoffel is the smarter than a lot of people I've seen. This legend can and shall continue to be a legend.
You can tell just how scientific these tests are by the exciting editing and musical stings.
As it turns out honey badger does care. He does give a sh**! 🧡
Thanks pagan min 😉
Was really hoping for a Randall quote!
But he still takes what he wants tho
You're underestimating them with this overused "cliche'".
@@TucsonDude its a joke. Lighten up
I love these little geniuses.. They are practically indestructible and very hardy little buggers!
No animal on planet earth has the swagger of the Honey badger, the embodiment of tenacity.
💯🤗👍 They think outside the box. (so to speak)
Literally 😉
Stoffel proved all of these things a long time ago...he even enlisted Hammie into his schemes...they're not only problem solving, adaptive & tool using smart, they're capable of pre-planning & coordinating behavior between individuals...if these critters ever evolve opposable thumbs, we could be in serious trouble...
Gotta love Stoffel, i've seen that docu about his escapes. Legendary....
He was like " gimme something atleast challenging"
Incredibly brave, very bright and a smart hair cut !! You've got to love the honey badger 🙂
so happy you still have them by your side sir. by the way it was very funny how it got into the scene right before solving problems
Honey badgers are problem solvers! Stoffel is the smartest honey badger in history!💕
you again haha
its a true shock to see you anywhere other than our lion content :)
I don't know why, but I have a feeling that that male zookeeper has started thinking like a honey-badger. 🤣
Stoffel: I would have already gotten all the food and broken into their homes by now.
Every dog owner in the world is like so what,my doggo does all this and open deadbolts with no opposable thumbs
Highly intelligent. They use tools. Learn by trial and error. Problem solve. My spirit animal.
I've seen a fish use tools, so if a fish can, I'm positive a honey badger can
“Using tools” is putting it a bit generously. They literally stationed the crate right next to the box.
Give the lil fella a break what more do u want him to do lol
I was waiting for the honey badger to start box-surfing.
I love the facial expression after the first puzzle solved... “Cmon that deserves more than one treat!”
No wonder it was so easy for Stoffel's son, Stoffel was a genius of honey badger, true legend =)
Like father, like son 👍 smart family
Stoffel is a real deal Legend. No cage can hold him
You literally placed the cage and tire right next to the box im not sold 😂
This lady has CRAZY EYES
lmfao i thought the exact same things XD
I didn't realize how large these animals were. This was the first video I could see a size comparison to people and objects.
Don't let them learn too much stuff... soon they'll be opening doors and raiding our kitchens!
Incredible, honey badgers are really smart mammals!
Great vid. And good tests. They are some smart critters.
Stoffel wasn't used for the test probably because he knows all their tricks
Thank you for sharing the video
Stoeffel is the OG honeybadger! He knows how to be a menace lol
Thank you enjoyed this video. Really clever animals
Honey badger doesn’t care, it doesn’t give a sh--. It takes what it wants
Love the slo mo footage of it running....What a cutie....
I love honey badgers their never say die nature is amazing they really have amazing abilities.
Hell, I’ve seen dogs do that kinda stuff. Those puzzles were child’s play for a Honey Badger.
If there was an animal army, honey badgers would be the Green Berets.
I've seen other videos on Honey badgers that were rescued. In one video, the honey badger was so anti-fearless and so loveable and sweet. They seem like really cool loving creatures, but I'm sure if they get mad or feel threatened they will go in for the kill, regardless of the size of the opponent. These videos always make me want to run out and get me a baby honey badger. BBC always has the best info and videos.
9 “dislikes” like WTAF… what’s not to love, let alone “like”? 👍👊💥
👏👍 Great comment! Unfortunately, All we can do is pray for those who seek to spread hate, or as I like to call them, Satan's heroes.😔🙏🕊 God bless you, and Honey Badgers everywhere! ❤
Probably people who don't understand evolution and are scared by the notion that there is no barrier between us and other animals besides the one we imagine.
As much as a hint of a sound epistemologies that might risk showing them their deeply held beliefs are but comfortable delusions... Can be scary for some.
Plain and simple, F*cking idiots. Disliking a nature video when they clicked it 😂!! Those who dislike most likely support habitat loss.
@@tempestive1 perfectly said
Well maybe people were expecting Attenborough. Don’t get me wrong she’s doing a great job but Attenborough is just something different.
Or they didn’t like the format with the interview segments in between and just wanted a nature video with simply the narrator in the background.
Stofles has already shown crazy skills
this is how they train honey badgers to be intelligent agents
I love this kind of trials, for it's challenging experimenters' intelligence about animal behavior!
his strut makes me lough so much.

Mustelidae family members have the inteligence of a 2- 3 year old child . quite remarkable creatures as they look to have small heads but they have infact a huge elongated skull full of brians.

The Honey Badger then proceeded to put his ear to the door and within minutes,,,, cracks it. !!!! What an animal. !!!! 😁😁😁✌💕💕💕
This reminds me how my mom and dad would hide my favorite treat inside a Rubik's cube. That's how I got to be called the sour patch kid.
You can't hide anything in side a rubicks cube, there not hollow.

I feel the honey badger will complete the limbo game in a day.
Very cool video keep them coming

I just think Honey Badgers are some very cool & smart mammals, also even though they aren't true badgers.
I knew this was filmed in South Africa the second I saw those mountains
That loping gait seems to go perfectly with an animal that is smarter than the rest! He’s not worried about a thing!
3:46 that jump though 😆
The honey badger is now my spirt animal. I also like the way they saunter with attitude
