      Not to mention how it knew to bring her to the boat when the tiger shark was coming in, despite seeing her in the water he knew humans stand on boats usually

      3 things tell u the intellectual depth of humpback whales.
      1. It knew tiger sharks will eat ppl.
      2. It knew she was a mammal. This is likely due to the fact that they have a massive sonar print that can penetrate thru soft bodied animals in the water, & can use it to see the swim bladders of fish from some distance away. It has prolly pinged enuf humans to see they have lungs inside, like other whales & dolphins, not swim bladders like fish, & can fully differentiate & match the sonar print with the lungs as not unlike itself, like a small whale or like other mammal. This is why it surfaced her for air. It also knows baby humpbacks can't hold their breath for very long, & this tiny land mammal even less.
      3. It took her right back to the boat. Knowing ppl should b on boats, the deep water is too dangerous for tiny mammals. There r massive predators around here, u going back on the boat where its safe for u, even if I have to fin launch u onto the deck! Silly tiny mammal! 😆

      There is not a single reported incident of a killerwhale injuring a human out in the wild.
      Only in captivity and attacking your kidnappers is so understandable and deserved, I have no complaints there. But in the wild they tend to feed humans as they think we're cute pets that are unable hunt for themselves lacking fins.

    Whales are incredibly emotional beings. They mourn the loss of their loved ones, they cry, they sing hauntingly beautiful songs, and they pass down knowledge and culture through generations. They live in tight-knit communities, form lifelong bonds, and show deep empathy. Killing whales isn't just 'hunting' it's murder. It's the destruction of sentient, intelligent lives who feel pain, grief, and love just like we do. We must treat them with the respect they deserve.

      Many animals are like that. Elephants come to mind. I saw a video of an elephant who loved to paint. Her handler would dip the brush with paint, the E would take it with her trunk and proceed to paint. The E painted a great picture of....................another elephant! Not only that but signed the painting, which I thought was better than I could do. Please NEVER BUY ANYTHING OF IVORY. Ivory means the death of at least 1 elephant.

    • @Judith-hk7if
      @Judith-hk7if 2 years ago +82

      @johnmccormack2046 No footage of the shark because she said it was only while turning out of glimpse from her eye that she recognized it - and then the whale immediately picked her up on his face. So no time to either put the camera back on (it is obvious that she did not film the whole time through) or stay staring at the upcoming shark.
      Those wales were still too close to the boat and protecting it & her when her feet were still dangling in the water - that shark would not have dared an attack within the first minute.

    • @murkantilism

      In a couple thousand years, if humanity hasn't ended itself, we'll probably be able to manufacture higher-level intelligent life out of octopi, whales, dolphins, pigs, etc. over relatively short timelines (like maybe a hundred years).
      For example, a watered-down version we could try today:
      Background - a certain species of octopus is capable of passing knowledge between members, but they aren't capable of passing knowledge down generationally because of the strong instinct mothers have to protect an egg clutch until they hatch, never leaving to hunt or eat and in experiments even refusing food provided to it. She always dies right after they hatch and they must all fend for themselves and learn via trial by fire.
      Experiment - If we just shoot the mother with some sort of dart-delivery mechanism that injects vital nutrients into it, say once a week or something, what would happen? Would she still just die? Would she live on and teach her young, potentially accelerating their growth & development and permanently altering their species' evolutionary timeline? Would she just eat a bunch of her own kids and then die for seemingly no reason?
      Lotta ethical and moral questions arise from experiments like these, but fuck that noise how cool would it be to help evolve intelligent dolphin people or sentient land-squids? I sure hope we don't nuke ourselves to the stone age so we can maybe find out one day! Heck maybe that's how we'll end our own species, by enabling one superior to evolve beyond control (that isn't an AI singularity).

      @chrisoffersen 4 years ago +383

      @murkantilism Changing their intelligence into something we can more easily understand isn’t necessary. These animals are perfectly intelligent for their world. I think we should just try harder to understand them.

    • @daijhin3064

      @Alysia Williams huh bigger brains means more capacity to store some knowledge and they are mammals like us but they can't speak, no hands and feet.. Scientists said that if an alien from another planet will visit the earth they will probably communicate with whales because of their complex communicating ability

    • @hauntedshadowslegacy2826
      @hauntedshadowslegacy2826 3 years ago +21

      @daijhin3064 Larger size, yes, but fewer wrinkles. To overly-simplify, it's the wrinkles that determine complexity/intelligence. Koala brains are almost completely smooth, and we can see the ramifications of that in their eating habits; Koalas legit won't recognize eucalyptus leaves if the leaves aren't attached to a tree and will starve to death with a pile of the leaves right in front of 'em.

      Loving an animal is sort of like expressing gratitude to God for His creation and appreciating what God has given us. His creation is even greater than we originally realize when we come to know it’s not just about us humans. The mammals that He made can love too, they have their own feelings and emotions. Just like how much they love their babies and how they mourn when one dies. Whale mothers who have a calf die will carry their dead baby on their head for days and you know they are grieving. I had a toy poodles who lost two puppies and she grieved so bad that our whole family were crying with her when she finally put the dead baby in my hand and dove in my arms and buried her head and literally sobbed. I learned that dogs learn words and they can read us like a book. Our horses and cats have shown great intelligence also.

      @patsmith5947; You talk and cling to ancient nonsense like a beleaguered child. Oh this is well within your right but to keep propagating such psychotic, insecure nonsense is truly dangerous, no matter how hard you just want and need to believe. Ignorant seditious preacher boy's, mostly concerned for their own livelihood have pumped their congregations of drumpf into being the chosen one, and fools ate it up, thinking some ancient hobgoblin had their backs, putting our very Democracy at risk! It is time we deal in REALITY! For one thing a lot of people have very little understanding of animals, and look at them as dumb and stupid, when in reality it is they themselves that are the real ignorant ones. Animals can see, hear, yell, feel and sense situations ten times better than any human, but we cannot grasp that. I am glad that you at least had such a deep experience with an animal, however sad.

    Whales are the most caring creatures in the ocean. I was snorkeling with 2 friends off the shore of San Clemente Island in California when I was in the military. Two gray whales put themselves between us and some sharks until we got out of the water. That was both scary(sharks) and beautiful (whales)at the same time. We went out the next year and saw those whales again. They are magnificent creatures with souls (I believe) of angels.

      @yxunny That's because the majority of them are young children who want to express themselves creatively, but do not know how to draw or write stories very well yet. Because they have not yet finished high school (or, in many cases, even begun high school), their grammar is not the best. • @freshrimp9013

      @dr.doctor2620 it's possible also that if this is a popular diving area the whale is used to people and knows they're friendly, which could be why it wanted to protect her, I mean, it knew to push her to the boat so clearly it knows that's where people go, though given how smart they are it could also just have seen her come from the boat or know sharks can't get here there.

      It’s sad but they are probably hunting these whales for food, money and fuel. One whale probably feeds thousands for a while and the oil is usually being used for fuel and heat. If people are killing these whales for fun that would be wrong. When you’re hungry and cold the whale might be the difference between life and death. Thank God that you’re not in this position. I would kill one if I needed to feed my village just like I would kill a shark or any other animal. Hunger makes people MAD!

Why would she jump BACK INTO THE WATER upon the second encounter if she was like you said “being a real bi**c? Plus they drag huge nets on the sea bottom and pulverize all structures, it's found completely ruined. Look it up on RUclips... there is video. A cam is attached to a dragnet showing the destruction. Then there is Norway (or one of the Scandinavian countries) and probably Russia keeps it legal and I can imagine China, even Eskimos shouldn't be allowed to kill a single whale 🐋. ⁸🐳. All those animals up north have a hard enough time keeping numbers up...

      But that’s not why altruism exists in nature. It was proven multiple times that this behaviour is the most effective one evolutionary. It exists because of the whales unconscious egoistic instinct to reproduce and survive by itself. Indirect it is indeed expecting something in return. Because of this video whales in general receive more love from humans so it’s survival strategy worked out here very well.
