My wife walks bye while I'm watching this episode. "Are you watching the BBC"? "No honey. I'm watching Damien Bacci". "Your on line guitar teacher"?! "Yup! He's also our motivational speaker and de-facto life coach"! "Mmm. Good to know". Thanks Damien for the positive words and the video. It helps bring a nice sense of normalcy back into our lives. Be well my friend and stay safe. We in the Rockabilly community need you!!
Like my most favorite song when I was a young child. Took up guitar @ 12 and begged dad to show me how to play it. He did. Bought my first Strat brand new from Ray Henning's Heart of Texas in Austin when I turned 15 w/$ from summer job. I remember pluggin in to an old amp at home and playing this riff! Well done. Thanks for the lesson and the memory. Stay safe.
Nice lesson, and nice send off at the end. Thanks. On one night in the Gibson factory in Memphis in 2006, I met Scotty Moore, DJ Fontana, and James Burton. Got their autographs on a guitar and a drum skin. James was curious about my guitar. He liked the grey color. Man, that was a good night.
Wow, thank you for sharing that story. What an amazing night that must have been. Roughly 25 years ago I had the pleasure to play a show with Jerry Lee Lewis and James Burton was playing guitar for him. I had a chance to hang out with James for a bit backstage. He was super friendly and laid back. I've never forgotten that night. :) Keep on Rockin' & Stay Safe DAMIAN
Great job brother. I just got a Gretchen g100 ce, now to jtart the adventure of rockabilly ( I’m 72 years old so I can Remember when these songs came out, I’ve been playing since junior high.) thanks!

This is one of my favorite songs ever! Elvis Presley is my favorite singer. I know everything about The King himself. Well done. Jailhouse Rock is also a movie.
You keep safe too Damian, we wannabee rockabillies need you. This is the seventh lesson I have "borrowed" from you on you tube. I have played and sang this song many times, over the past 50 odd years, but I never totally nailed the solo before. Once again thank you .
Yeah.. Who's the bozo who gave this a thumbs down ?? Great lesson old mate... Been playing this song for several years, but it's nice to see I was more or less in the ballpark, ha-ha.. More of that man Moore please ! Take care Damian..
thanks Damien , love your video, love your quote and positive attitude to this terrible virus we are all going through. thanks all those front line people. Keep safe
Thanks again Damian, I am doing all the things asked of us here in the UK .... PLUS .... learning more rockabilly from you. Cheers Damian, you're a gent.
I have been in isolation since day one. I appreciate your lessons they keep me sane. I promise in return I will help other people less fortunate than myself. Best part of Covid pandemic... plenty of time to learn Rockabilly guitar from Damian Bacci! Thanks for all the time you put into your videos and the positive energy you put forward. God bless your 'greasy' heart!
Great lessons and I like the way you get right to the point with them, just the right amount of instruction. Also I appreciate your words on the pandemic, , , very thoughtful and sincere.
Thanks Damian for still posting your excellent lessons in these really difficult and dangerous times. I really enjoyed your wonderfull lesson, it only took me a few minutes to learn this, never thought it was that easy. It may be simple but brilliant at the same time. Always wondered how Scotty played that solo.'You're my favourite teacher when it comes to rockabilly. Keep up the good work, and stay safe and keep on rockin
Nice! Hopefully I can finally get this solo to sound right. I've tortured my neighbors with the intro and verse for years. I work in a hospital (non clinical, but essential) and people who can stay home should count themselves lucky. Boredom is far better than the anxiety that comes with dealing with people these days
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. I hope you'll find it useful. Thank you for all the hard work you're doing. Essential workers is what is keeping everything still working and running in our world and I appreciate that. Keep on Rockin' & Stay Safe DAMIAN
Greetings from northwest Florida. Thank you brother for another great lesson and the positive message, we all need to stay positive in these trying times. Found your “Autumn Leaves “ lesson a few weeks ago, worked through it and have to tell you this is the first song I can play all the way through, thanks to your great teaching method. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Scotty Moore once mentioned that at times playing a solo or riff was a struggle for back in the day there was no such thing as medium or light gauge string configuration. And using "flatwounds only" was the norm. Which explains why his experimental "adlib" studio takes were different. Visionary Ernie Ball knew this and set out to make it easier for us guitar players because we want to create without fighting the music.
Great lesson - thank you. For me the thing missing is you start teaching but haven’t yet played at normal speed what we’re learning. I find it really useful to hear the whole thing first and then start learning it. Love your style and pacing.
I randomly picked this video to comment. I love your channel. You’re a great teacher. One thing I find funny is, in your early videos, you look and sound dangerous, like you just got of prison for shooting your parole officer. Not the type of guy you wanna owe money to. Now? Now you seem like the type of guy they use to send in to cheer up Mister Rogers when he’s down.
I’d like to see a video on how to dial in your amp and what pedal is needed to get that classic rockabilly sound, if he doesn’t already have one. I’m a new subscriber 🤷🏻♂️
Great lesson Damian. I like your guitar. Is that the Joe Pass Epiphone Emperor II. I have the sunburst color version. Sounds great with or without an amp. Rockabilly sounds real fun to play. Thanks for the lesson. Keep safe. Cheers.

Good instruction. I think Scotty was doing what so many early rock-a-billy guys did in that time period re: that near unison 9th/12 fret strike. Using regular gauge strings this was the best they could do to get a blues like bend up into the target note. It's close but not quite. So they had to bend one half step up rather than a whole step which is typical today with slinky strings.
Who else did this? Carl Perkins and his protégé, George Harrison on the early Beatles records. They both could make these half-step off notes quite discordant by not bending it much and striking both notes hard and simultaneously.
