    I recently moved to a golf community and have a cart for the first time. I bought the previous homeowners cart and it is lifted. He didn't play golf with it, I do. I personally don't like the lifted cart if you are golfing with it. Harder to get in and out of and you can't grab a golf ball off the ground while riding in it.

    thx for the review!
    I'm looking into buying one and also came across the 'adventurer' model. I think it has better looks, factury lifted a bit, with brush guard,... but then I saw that one has a max speed of only 15mph and doesn't have the independent rear suspension?
    what are your thougts / experiences on this 'adventurer' model and do you think it would be possible to let it run 20-23 mph just as easy as the drive 2 PTV?
    thx!

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад

      The adventurer model comes with the solid rear axle and the standard gears that would come in the fleet carts. So you don't get the independent rear suspension and you don't get the "quietech" so it will be a little louder as well. By turning the governor up on a adventurer you will probably only be able to get it to 19-20 mph without causing excessive wear on the engine. The PTV model is the only cart that Yamaha sells that comes with the high speed gears. If you need a lifted cart get the adventurer, if not I would get the PTV. Do NOT buy a PTV and put a lift kit on it, it will kill the ride quality and handling.

    Really enjoyed your video! Just curious how many hours one should expect to get out of one of these before you need to worry about major repairs? Also, if I am looking at one without an hour meter would that be a Fleet model (seems to have everything else).

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  2 года назад +1

      If it doesn't have the fuel gauge with hour meter, then yes it would be a fleet model. I have seen these carts coming off of leases that had over a 1000 hours of run time on them with no major issues. But it all depends on how well it was maintained. • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад +1

      Yes a lift kit definitely hurts the ride quality and handling. If you don't install heavy duty springs you will get a lot of body roll, and if you do install the HD springs it will ride super rough. Oil changes are easy if you get the vacuum pump I showed in my other video - ruclips.net/video/qLkyY5Eg4hc/видео.html You should change oil at least once or twice per year, depending on how much you use it.

      @@PowerEquipmentMan What are the pros and cons of a Umax vs PTV with a bed added? Both would be gas. Does the PTV ride better because of the independent rear suspension? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  Год назад

      The Umax is more of a utility machine. It can handle heavier loads and has more power and a better clutch setup to handle those loads, but is going to ride rougher. The PTV will ride better and be quieter, but the bed will be quite a bit smaller, won't dump, and have a lot less payload capacity.

    Hi Jonas, I'm looking at buying a 2012 Yamaha gas PTV and wondering if these came the high speed gear as standard equipment.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan

      No, none of the Drive models came with high speed gears. Yamaha didn't start doing the high speed gears until the 2017 and newer Drive2 PTV models.

      @sullie35 it's possible that someone changed them out, but it didn't come with them from the factory. If it has high speed gears, it should do at least 19 mph or more.

      @PowerEquipmentMan Thank you for all your expertise on these Yamaha's. I went ahead and bought it and it doesn't have the high speed gearing as you said it wouldnt...so I turned up the tension on the governor to the limit of where you stated in another video by tightening the 10mm nut and used GPS to determine the speed and it does exactly 19mph and sounded like probably around 3500 rpm...but the check engine light came on and no flashes..Just stays on...I had already checked the oil before I bought it and it was clean and full...after the light came on I checked the oil again and it's full right at the line on the stick. I'm not sure what to do as Yamahas website shows the nearest yamaha service center is like 4 or 5hrs away in Michigan...I feel like I A. Should have bought a carburetorated cart or a ezgo or club car... Always had the older yamahas and starting to wish I never bought this because of all the diagnostics that have to be done on a efi versus a carbed cart... May you can give me some advice on this.....I hate doing this cause it's like begging for free information..and thats not my style but don't know what else to do...

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  27 дней назад +1

      @@sullie35 Usually if the light just stays on, it is the low oil sensor. I have seen those sensors fail before. It would be pretty easy to test if it is a bad sensor by just unplugging the sensor. It is on the backside of the engine with just one wire plugged into it.
      The Yamaha EFI system is pretty simple, there really isn't much to go wrong with them. If the cart is running fine, I'm sure it's nothing big.
      You can't go off of the Yamaha dealer locator. It usually only shows the big dealers or distributors. Chances are there is a smaller Yamaha dealer somewhere close to you. Google works best to find them.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan

      Gas carts will handle hills better then electric carts will. However the PTV models are geared higher so they will have less bottom end torque. If you need more power, I would look into do a Plowman's Kit.

      Yes, it is possible. It helps to loosen/remove the two bolts holding the shield between the battery and the engine in place. Then you can lay that shield over a bit to give you more room the get the battery out the top.

      @ddivinia 2 года назад

      A 1 dB change in a sound equates to about a 26% difference in sound energy (remember that a 3 dB difference is a doubling of energy levels). In terms of subjective loudness, a 1 dB change yields just over a 7% change. A 3 dB change yields a 100% increase in sound energy and just over a 23% increase in loudness. Reality is most people cant perceive a 1db difference.

    Hello there first time here! Under 20 mph? That’s exactly why I did not buy one! Now I do know someone that took an older carburetor gas engine Yamaha, that was HOT! Could run up to 30 mph!!! But not for cruising! The best cruising speed was still around 25 mph, that is still a little fast on an engine not designed for that constant speed. So that is why I bought a new in 2018, Tomberlin SS Coupe two seat 48 v AC LSV, that’s able to cruise at 25 for as long as the batteries last, that’s about 25-28 miles, or 40 miles in low speed up to 15 mph. Yes I did test drive a 2018 Yamaha Quiet Drive II, when in the market looking, I had actually decided on one, till I discovered the new mandatory fuel injection engine was a sealed computer control system, that would possibly require a dealer flash of sorts, if that’s even possible, but I’m sure would negate any warranty! Plus the 55+ community I live in has a not really in writing no go for gas carts, mainly due to their outdated thinking! It’s too bad, I really liked the ride, but would have speed anxiety! Like the only saying goes, “it’s more fun to drive a slow vehicle fast, than a fast vehicle slow”. But the slow vehicle must have some higher compatibility speeds!

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад

      The Quietech PTV EFI can pretty easily run 23+ mph without causing any engine issues, buy just turning the governor up with a 10mm wrench (no dealer help needed). And you can go that fast for 250 miles!! I have heard of guys getting 28 mph or more out of them though. There would never be any reason to do anything to the computer on them. I am not a big fan of the Tomberlins, I have seen more of them then I can count sitting in the junk yards because they are a nightmare to get parts for and fix. Most of the time it just isn't cost effective to fix them when they break down. Good luck with yours. Thanks for watching.

      @@PowerEquipmentMan yea it was tough getting parts for Tomberlin carts a few years ago. However Tomberlin has partnered up with PACAR, that’s helped the situation with all types of issues, especially parts. I have personally been to the expanded facilities in Leesburg Florida, where I was instructed by Tomberlin to bring my cart when the steering system,(that at the time was fairly new) that had no recent issues recorded, seemed to have stripped? With the steering wheel moving and the wheels both, unless I was rolling, there would just be a sensation like stripped gears. So I trailered my cart up, only to have them find the female end of the universal between the power steering box an steering rack had stripped the splines off where the shaft goes. All they needed to do was look it up on a computer, walk over into the 5,000 sq ft warehouse facility to pull a universal out of a parts bin, install an I was on my way. Only after the Gen. Manager had given me a tour, showing me the new 2019’s coming out! That told me that issue was addressed. It’s been two years since, with only the built in charger needed replacement under warranty from its manufacturer, sent to my dealer before I brought it up! Another incident of fantastic service!!!
