    I've been enjoying the heck out of your videos. I'm almost ready to buy a 2017 Yamaha EFI quiet tech without headlights and it has the usb ports in Yamaha blue. The owner says he left the motor stock but he did the governor adjustment. Anything I should look for or any reason to pass on this one...6K price. Thanks...liked and subbed!

    Hey Jonas, I just took delivery of a 2011-12 Yamaha G29 and I find out this does not have brake shoes but I think the braking is within the motor area? Any idea how I get to it since the pedal almost goes to the floor and I have already tried to adjust the cable under the floor. I am learning a lot from your videos so keep them coming. THUMBS UP!

    • @PowerEquipmentMan

      If you don't have drum brakes then you have the "wet brake" that is inside the rear transaxle. Unfortunately those are a real pain to replace and we do not have any videos on how to do that. Unless you are a very experienced mechanic, I would recommend taking it to a golf cart shop to have that done.

      Yeah I wish I would have known this before I bought the G29 I just bought a 2013 model I should have just stuck with Club Car but thats what happens when you dont have patience. My brakes work fine but for now but this cart had the Speed code upgrade and my regen braking hardly works which I really wanted because I live on hilly areas and it helps preserve the brake life especially with this cart! Might just sell it and get what i really wanted club car ds regen. Ive heard they ride better on bumpy roads because of aluminum frame. Oh the choices we make....

    Jonas, I damaged the paint on a fender if my blue drive 2. It is the same color as your blue one. Do you know Yahama’s name for that paint color? They have several blue names? I think it is bright blue metallic.

    Want to get a Yamaha PTV gas but my wife is worried about the smell of engine when driving around. Is this an issue with these?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  Год назад

      Yes you will be able to smell the engine. I recommend going on a long test drive before buying one so you know what to expect. The smell is stronger when the engine is cold and usually gets better once it gets up to operating temperature.

    how do i know if i have high speed gears?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  Год назад

      If you have a PTV, then you have high speed gears. If you are not sure if you have a PTV, look at your dash. All PTV models will have a factory installed fuel gauge with hour meter. The high speed gears are set at 19 mph from the factory and can easily be turned up to mid 20s by tightening the governor.

    Hi I bought a 2018 Yamaha gas cart, with the lights on it but it has no meter at all and I’m a new to the golf cart world, how can I tell if it’s a ptv ?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  3 года назад

      If it was a PTV model it would have a fuel gauge with hour meter, a horn button on the floor, cushion grip steering wheel, and high speed gears (19mph). If it doesn't have ALL of those things, its just a fleet cart that someone added lights to.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  Год назад +1

      The Drive2 is available as the standard EFI solid axle model, EFI Quietech, and EFI Quietech PTV. The solid axle models are quite a bit different than the Quietech models. They also sold a carbureted solid axle model for a couple of years.

    Jonas school me please. I just bought a 2017 Yamaha quietech drive two that looks like a Ptv. It has fuel gauge hour meter, Rear view mirror, headlights and break lights but it does Not have the rear gears snd it doesn’t go 19.5 mph more like 14. Why would anyone buy a cart with those add ons but yet not get the Ptv (rear gears). The only thing I can think of is that it’s less of a hassle for maintenance snd didn’t care about the speed. Is there an advantage at all for not having rear gears?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  2 года назад

      Is your cart an Adventurer 2+2 model? Look it up if your not sure what that is. They come with fleet gears but everything else a PTV would have. Fleet gears are better for hills or heavy loads as they give you more torque.
      I have never heard of a PTV that didn't have the high speed gears. Unless someone changed out the highspeed gears for fleet gears. As far as I know you can't custom order a PTV directly from Yamaha with fleet gears. And like you said why would anyone want a PTV that's slow? One thing you might look into is to make sure your clutches are fully shifting out. At wide open throttle the belt should be all the way at the top of the front clutch. If it is only coming halfway up you have issues and that would definitely hurt your top speed.
      But if you want your cart to go faster and you do actually have fleet gears here are your options - turning the governor up should get you close to 19 mph. You could install high speed gears and get to the upper 20s or low 30s, but that is a more difficult process that takes a good amount of mechanical knowledge and a good set of tools. Bypassing the governor will get you around 26-28 mph, but you have to do several other modifications to bypass the governor without causing damage to anything else. We hope to release our High Performance kit to do that later this year.
