    Super Deck is a great Product. Used it for many years up in the Lake Tahoe area. If I remember correctly the pigments still used to settle a bit and we would shake or stir the product before use. We would also block the back side of an open fence area regardless of the transfer rate of the application since there will be a partial possibility of overspray reaching the other side. It was always a safe way for us. I hate the possibility of liability. Nice video you made. Thanks

    I pressure wash with Simpson 2400 or so psi using 2.5 gpm with white tip. I have an 8 foot cedar fence and I go up and down twice for each picket. I use a graco xr 17 and have used wood defender cedar tone transparent oil based stain. It looks brand new. Now around 10 years old. I’ve seen a guys RUclips video where he using his own caustic removers while washing around 5gpm. I don’t have that much to have a pro stain machine. Thanks for your tips on painting and staining.

    Do you need to power wash a new fence before the staining? I noticed that some cedar pickets I'm using have a lot of wooden dust on them and some have light green-blue spots, like moss. Or that dust doesn't matter and you can apply the stain on those pickets? Thank you for the informative film.

      You should stain within 4-6 weeks after installed using a penetrating oil based stain.
      It is not necessary to clean your fence prior to staining unless it has started to grey or develop organic growth.
      A pressure treated pine will have green pigment in the panels… after 4-6 weeks
      Apply a semi- trans Pecan or Chestnut & it will look amazing!!!

    Hello , love your videos . I have some questions for you. I have a new fence that I painted 3 years later the slots are rotten away where the nails are in the cross wood. The fence guys said it’s the paint? Berh gave me a cleaner called 63 said to wash the whole fence and repaint the new replaced pieces with the old painted fence ..what could I’ve done wrong painting a new wood fence? What would make the wood rot under the paint? Should I try to pressure clean strip the paint off the fence before using the berh 63 and the paint ? I can’t believe my fence is disintegrating after only 3 years . Please help !

    Water based doesn't last as long as it can dry out and flake off. Oil based stays in the wood and protects it much longer also doesn't flake. Ask me how I know.

    That turbo tip will tear up your wood. Never use the turbo tips only flat and stay back about 6 inches and move quickly. Better to go over it twice than tear up the soft wood from the hard grain..

    What water based stains for fences do you recommend since you don’t recommend oil based?

    • @Thestainxpert
      @Thestainxpert 2 года назад

      You always want to use a penetrating oil based stain over waterbased every time.
      A penetrating oil will outperform a waterbased stain all day long
      A penetrating oil provides nourishment to the wood & brings out the true beauty of its character.
      Waterbased stain sits on top of surface & eventually fails (peal, chip, flake, etc) which means you get upset years down the road.
      Most contractors go Waterbased because it’s less of a hassle, easier in and out (profitability) & easier to purchase.
      A true “penetrating oil” based stain requires you to do a little more research finding the right company (SSE) & order in advance (2-3 days) which is nothing when it comes to staining 😀
