Anybody who does is an utter mug - and is being ripped off. Over £4000 for a groupset - Madness!! Time the cycling media called these companies out.....
I have both the former generations of Red and Force AXS, as well as both Red 22 and Force CX1. Which i am considering upgrading to 12 speed with Ratio technology. A quick note on Sram front derailleurs. Everyone complains about chain drops; well, set them up like a Sram front derailleur and not a shimano one! Everyone ive ever seen have issues, has set them up like its a shimano 105 or Tiagra derailleur. Its not. Its a Sram derailleur. Which means you gotta set it up different. No issues with Sram here.
This! SRAM AXS front derailleurs are trivial to setup thanks to the SRAM RUclips channel and the alignment tools included with the groupset. My FD has been flawless since I setup it properly.
@noelclaremont I'm talking ALL Sram derailleurs are like this, but exactly. They take a specific setup. It's simple, if you do it wrong, it won't work and if you do it right, it works. But your right. Setup is trivial. I'm glad you have found success.
Wow $3,700 for the 'unpowered' groupset. That's more than what I paid for my GRX 600 equipped Salsa Journeyer and a set of very nice Nobl+Onyx carbon wheels. I'm obviously not at the level to need this type of tech but I can't imagine spending that much just on a groupset.
Sram axs is on my which list for CX/gravel/ everyday outdoor bike with rival 1shifter/force1 rd mechanical disc. On a tight budget for more gear range upgrade now so going with ratio technology shifter/ rd cage modifications. If axs go rival. Can go 2x if wanted and still have gear range at a good price.
Great review. Thanks. Looking at upgrading my 7 year old Red AXS. As I'm old and short and fat, having the ability to have a 36 at the back for the 20% ers is very appealing. Yes, I don't need the 140g less in weight. This or a 1x setup???
Yeah don't get rid of it Sram are garbage compared to campagnolo 11 speed .my sram force etap jump out the derailer and snap the front derailer in half .
My desire: Right tap = RD higher x1 Right hold = RD lower x1, hold longer x1 more, etc. Left tap = FD lower x1 Left hold = FD higher x1 AXS app does not appear to allow this. Seems the system is capable as hold buttons are recognized to activate multishift. AXS app offers some customization. Frustrating though as the customization I desire, which is not radical but is to function as SRAM's own Double Tap is not an option. Clearly though this function can be possible.
The hoods are the first thing that hits the wind. What did SRAM do to improve the aerodynamics of those beyond making them smaller like the Rival and Force hoods? Also, what did SRAM do to improve the aerodynamics of the cranks and rings? Rear derailleur? Brake calipers? Nothing. SRAM and Shimano would be easy to beat if they had a competitor. SRAM and Shimano are trapped in their own bubbles. Legacy dinosaurs.
I had Campagnolo Record 11 speed machical. Recently bought Sram Force 12 speed etap ..I made the biggest mistake of all time . I was out riding shifting to easier cog all suddenly the chain jump out side of the rear derailer ,into the spokes ! And snap my front derailer snap in half !!! Now i was reading revews Srams known to have that issues .I miss my campagnolo Record 11 speed .All electric components are overrated .
Levers look decent for hydraulic even if the levers are a copy of the awesome Campag levers from 5 years ago. Still got the stupidly shaped and butt ugly chain?
The position if the front derailleur battery still interferes with the rear wheel’s tire. If you have short chainstays and a wide rear tire, the SRAM Red front derailleur rubs that battery. Bad design.
Are these changes enough to make you consider the upgrade?
No. Not at all.
Yes, but bit by bit me thinks. £4K over the next few years I can hide! £4K now is a no...
no thank you. Prefer Shimano Dura Ace R9270 Di2
From force/rival maybe, but from the current red that would be silly and classed as a sidegrade.
Anybody who does is an utter mug - and is being ripped off. Over £4000 for a groupset - Madness!! Time the cycling media called these companies out.....
It does sound fantastic indeed. Let's hope the tech (and ergonomics) trickle down quickly to more affordable groupsets...

Best presentation of the new SRAM groupset.
you know its serious when Rossiter comes out to play
$4k for groupset 💥 just installed 105 mech 12 speed on an aero frame and faultless performance for $550 👊
Brakes are insanely impressive as are the hoods. So impressive.
Thats a SWEET bike!
For me Shimano after 105 di2 now Ultegra 12s lovely super fast shifting ergonomic hoods.
Glad to see they’ve also improved on the price. 👍
Staying forever with Shimano. Currently Ultegra Di2 R8000, but soon upgrade to R9000 Dura Ace.
Take a ride on Red. Is really impressive and I also have a DA 9200 bike..I actually prefer the Red
Does look very nice best presentation of the groupset if i could afford it would definitely buy it.
I plan to upgrade my 2019 Sram Red shifters and brakes. The rest can wait.
I have the old Red AXS, and I might buy the new shifters and front mech if it means the chain drop has been fixed.
Now that we have an upgraded Red & Force can you do a “how would I build it” like you did when Rival came out?

Looks awesome. Shimano needs to up their game.
Buy, spend consume
Hi, exists sram red cranks wide type (chainline 47.5 and Q factor 150)? THX
is there gonna be a 1x option?
Can we get an update on joe...and that bad ass GIANT TCR he showed off a few episodes back
Can the STIs be fitted to a Force D2 groupset?
Yes. The components are backwards compatible
@@bikeradarI like the new red shifter’s was talking to my local bike shop about switching from old force to red
What wheels are those ?
My campag mirage 9speed from 2009 does me fine.
Yeah don't get rid of it Sram are garbage compared to campagnolo 11 speed .my sram force etap jump out the derailer and snap the front derailer in half .
Nice looking groupset, but that 7 (!!) mm longer reach for the hoods is a big nono
Having just replaced an Ultegra set with this, its effectively less than 5mm. And i didn't notice, because they don't dip as much.
My desire:
Right tap = RD higher x1
Right hold = RD lower x1, hold longer x1 more, etc.
Left tap = FD lower x1
Left hold = FD higher x1

The jockey wheels are now larger than the smallest cog, lol.
I want!! *Looks at the price, ok maybe not 😔
This is a group set of a rich people.😅
My sram red, is 10 speed mechanical lol.
That's awesome too
And I bet it still works perfectly well
@@bikeradar yeah, no signs of it giving up the ghost anytime soon.
and its backward compatible. so i might buy the new levers to my existing sram red etap.

Shame, like many other companies, they rip you off on the GBPUSD FX rate since when has it been 1.0000?
FESTKA SPECTRE ??
Levers look decent for hydraulic even if the levers are a copy of the awesome Campag levers from 5 years ago. Still got the stupidly shaped and butt ugly chain?
Yes, the Flattop chain is now hollowed out as well.
Need to buy a new chain set if one ring wears out? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My 2019 Sram Red chainrings are still going strong. All it takes is proper maintenance to get a lot of life out of chainrings.
The position if the front derailleur battery still interferes with the rear wheel’s tire. If you have short chainstays and a wide rear tire, the SRAM Red front derailleur rubs that battery. Bad design.
So much $$ 😂😂😅. Maybe for the pro riders. Not for this mortal.
Don't need to be a pro, just a dentist.
Way too expensive for the average cyclists with bikes & components price now at a premium, not sure it's worth upgrading to this groupset.
@@sebastian-FX357Z1just go for the ultegra di2 12x. Rode the new AXS and I prefer the ultegra 🤷♂️
show to the pros. we dont need this. to expensive😂
who cares!
