Ok Al, glad you asked for input on the sheep. We have had several breeds of sheep on the ranch both here in Texas and back in California. For a nice big beefy butcher lamb it is hard to beat a Suffolk BUT you have to shear them. If they are out in wooded area they get things caught in the wool. Where you are at the wool keeps em warm. We have let our line of wool sheep go and only have a few cross breeds left and are not breeding them. Instead we have gone with a nice heavy bodied Dorper. They also average out to more lamb's in a year and are easier to handle than some woolies. We are real happy with ones we have and the meat is delish. Best yet, no shearing! I like the looks of the black headed Dorper. Check it out for yourself. One more tip, buy your ewes open(not breed) Lambs can have a high death rate when they are taken to new soil with new parasites. We found out the hard way on that one. Sheep need to be parasite resistant or you are fighting a constant heartbreaking battle. You have lots of land and that is key with sheep and rotating grazing. Research your area and talk to local ranchers. Good luck. We will always have sheep we love em so much. Good simple living has babydolls and she may have more wisdom than us. As always, praying for many blessings for y'all and ❤ from Austin Texas
I'm so proud of Hope she's really come a long way from a timid picked on little goat to a take control mind of her own beautiful goat but all of your goats are beautiful, smart and a joy to watch.
That’s pretty neat how you file the hooves. I’ve seen others actually clip them. It makes me afraid they will cut into a tender spot on the goat’s feet. You always have a genius way of doing things. Like when you smoothed out that cast iron pizza pan! That pizza just slid around on that pan surface without a single sticky place. You fixed that NEW cast iron!
There is nothing wrong with clipping them, you just need to pay attention and not clip the hoof wall or heel below the sole. You can even see Al clipping the boys before finishing off with the grinder.

She stunk, that's all I remember about her. Your goats really have personality, I love the way you respect them and I suspect they have a real attachment to you all!
Well done on both sides for my eggs, had a bad time with an egg my aunt had left in the nest to make them lay. I'm adult and then some and still can't get over it.
I posted this on Good Simple Living's channel, but I don't know if they saw it or not. There is a really great song by Bill Morrisey (RIP) who spent much of his time in New Hampshire. The song is called "Birches" and in my opinion, lyrically, it's the perfect song. His voice might be an acquired taste for lots of people -- I loved him from the first time I heard him -- but that song is extraordinary. I hope you'll look it up here on YT, and follow that one with "Handsome Molly." What you had to say at 01:23 about the birch log you put in the woodstove brought him to mind immediately. I think you'll appreciate the song.
Regarding which kind of sheep... again, back to Good Simple Living: I'd love to see you get some Baby Doll sheep like the ones they have. They're extremely good in cold weather, the only problem that I could see is that they're adorable. It would be awfully hard to eat any of them and you'd just wind up with another herd of pets.
I was watching one of your videos from last winter and you were feeding meal worms to the chicken and commenting how egg production was increasing. ❤🌅🌵😷
Al and Gina - my favourite sheep over here in the Uk are Hampshire Downs - they are beautiful sheep, normally easy to look after, and look like teddy bears!! Hey Al and Gina, I've been watching The Swedish Homestead and they just got some doll faced sheep, looks like a variety that would do good in NH. Or even the Katahdin breed like Doug and Stacey have. Just my thoughts, have a great day, Haffy the Mainiac in Colorado.
Katahdin sheep are raised for meat not wool. Unless you have a custom shearer working in your area wool sheep would be a problem or you have to learn to shear sheep yourself. What is most important is to learn who is working sheep in your area and what they are raising.
Yes, these sheep are good for meat and their wool takes care of itself because they rub against the fences and remove their own wool. You just have to pick it off the fence. Unsightly for awhile, but it the easiest breed to work with when it comes to wool, and their meat is good.
Hi Al and Gina...still harding working... Battle of beaver dam, looks like a mini version of the China Three Gorges rushing water. Properties must be close. Thank you so much!
I've got to wear a mask at work all day but often I have to wear safety gkases too. What works perfectly for me is a respirator with 60923 filter cartriges. Not only does the mouthpiece seal so you don't fog your glasses, but you can't smell anything, so you wouldn't be able the smell the goats while you worked on them.
I love yolks! I make my eggs over easy and either put them on toast or I cut around the yolk and eat the whites separate and then pop the yolk in my mouth. Super rich

Im with you Al Yolks all the way mmm. The fact that not a single one of the goats had a panic attack over the hoof trimmer just shows how much trust they have for you guys and is proof of how well you guys do taking care of them
Good morning Al,Gina and Olivia. Hopefully you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Watching from Jamaica as usual. Thanks again for another adventurous video ☺️☺️☺️
We are in Massachusetts and have Soay Sheep. I decided to get this breed because they are extremely hardy, low maintenance, and eat a variety of plants (grass, broad leaf weeds, poison ivy, etc....). These are not big sheep 50 to 60 pounds. My primary reason for getting these sheep was to help clear land and rejuvenate my soil while rotational grazing them. Also if your planning to have the sheep for meat I'm told they taste like really good venison. Anyways sheep are awesome and there is so many breeds. Good luck!
I am a yoke person. The only time I eat scrambled is when that is all there is. Love your new property. You are making it easy on the beav ers though. by tossing the dam parts right next to it. NYDOT dug a dam out and left it in a pile. The next week when I went by it was totally rebuilt. The water level was almost over the road again. Next time I came by NYDOT had dug it out and took it away. I don't know if the beavers got trapped butg the dam never returned. Keep up the good work.
I don't know if it works for goats, but with dogs I found inexpensive concrete pavers do a great job of trimming nails. You'd have to lay them in an area they are always going to walk across, so maybe about 4 feet out in front of their barn door where you have rocks now. I'd just push the pavers into the dirt and then put the rock back on top.
Yes, try making birch beer. A good place to market Birch Beer your dentist. Birch Beer stains the plack build up on teeth, and thus demonstrates to a person how much brushing one should do.
How often do you have to trim their hooves? You can tell the ones who have gotten used to having that done. Good to have that task done I’m sure! Looking forward to seeing some babies in the spring!
Good Mornin Lumnah's. I have been very fortunate breeding my goats. When I notice them in heat I put them in with the buck for a day or two and then take them out, and they have all taken. But, I do a flush ration 2 weeks or so ,give or take, before hand. Seems to really make a difference. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
Nice that the girls goats are good at the milk stand, to funny....Have a great day out there. My suggestion is talk to Greg Judy or someone that has experience on sheep, because you want to get the right breed for your area. Love goats and sheep.
There's a car window fluid that makes the surface more hydrophobic causing water droplets to appear more as tiny beads of water instead of big smeared blobs You should use some on your cam

Thanks for the video this morning guys. God Bless.
I like my yoke soft but white done. We use to call it “edium” which would be between easy and medium.
Good morning Al,Gina and Olivia. Hopefully you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Watching from Jamaica as usual. Thanks again for another adventurous video ☺️☺️☺️
Lovely morning here fog is lifting sun is trying to come through and life is good ! Stay safe all xx
Good luck!
wow! I didn't know you could use a grinder on the hooves. I have only seen hooves being trimmed with the clippers.
I love beaver creek I love that he's making the creek beautiful!
Hope is so cute and such a trooper.🥰
Many people tap birch trees for the sap, because it makes great juice.
Yes, try making birch beer.
A good place to market Birch Beer your dentist.
Birch Beer stains the plack build up on teeth, and thus demonstrates to a person how much brushing one should do.
We put mayo on top of out potatoes, eggs, and bacon. Then cut it all up and blend well with fork. Eat and enjoy.
How often do you have to trim their hooves? You can tell the ones who have gotten used to having that done. Good to have that task done I’m sure! Looking forward to seeing some babies in the spring!
I cant wait to see Hope's baby's
Good Mornin Lumnah's. I have been very fortunate breeding my goats. When I notice them in heat I put them in with the buck for a day or two and then take them out, and they have all taken. But, I do a flush ration 2 weeks or so ,give or take, before hand. Seems to really make a difference.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
Good Morning all of you. 😊
Morning
Nice that the girls goats are good at the milk stand, to funny....Have a great day out there. My suggestion is talk to Greg Judy or someone that has experience on sheep, because you want to get the right breed for your area. Love goats and sheep.
Good morning all hope u all have a great day :)
I love the runny yoke all in my hash 😉😁 Plus it gives you something to clean off your plate with toast 😀😀😀😀😀
Good morning, have a great day.
Good morning Lumnah family ☕️ Happy Friday, have a blessed day
All went well and day to enjoy and be grateful for
Hi al and Gina and Olivia just saying hi and thanks 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Good morning all!
My favorite breeds of sheep are the Dorset, and Southdown, but if your interest is in a black wool then a Mercury Lincoln cross.
Happy thanksgiving. Best results for the breeding. Now that was awkward.. Hope the roofing is delivered soon and the shed it dried in.
Babydoll Southdown Sheep are so cute! Valaise Blacknose are adorable too, but they are a newer breed.
Good Mawning Lumnah’s from Schoharie County NY!!!! Place is looking really good!
Love the goats and chores. Not so much about the other land. Hopefully with better weather it will be more interesting.
Good morning Lumnahs. Its easy to see how much the goats love you guys. They love being taken of.
There's a car window fluid that makes the surface more hydrophobic causing water droplets to appear more as tiny beads of water instead of big smeared blobs You should use some on your cam
Good morning Al Gina and Olivia
