- So I got top dasher... Here's my opinion on if its still worth it to become a top dasher or not. This sunday night shift wasnt the best example but for the most part, the past two weeks have been GREAT!

There is a misconception that top dasher and high pay orders (the diamond logo) are thebsame thing, but they aren't. Top dasher is done monthly based on your end of month stats and the perks are dash now (which includes anytime scheduling), and slow time order priority. The diamond zone program is done on realtime AR and is what controls the priority on "high pay" orders.
You can have top dasher and then a low AR and you will stop seeing the diamond icon and lose priority on "high pay" orders. You can also not be top dasher and be above 50 or 70 AR and you'll get the priority and see the diamond orders.
The LOP is even a third completely separate program too.
Yup, only thing top dasher is good for is the ability to dash now. But never dash now in markets that show grey on map. Sure way to lower your AR as you will get priority to some lower paying/no tip orders, you will probably want to decline.

Lol i remember when they rolled out top dasher in 2019 i knew it was a scam.
I live in Houston (not DT area) and I get pretty bad orders but I don't have TD so I don't know if that's a big factor in my market. I can say without TD my market is dead 90% of the day.
Im in the spring/humble area, it only picks up after 6pm, too many non tippers you get $4-5 dollar orders on 5+ mile trips not even worth it
Just to let you know recording customers faces or showing their information on screenshots, can get you deactivated from DD. It has happened to a few RUclipsrs already, Doordash does check RUclips content creators making videos about them and do not like it.
Also as some have mentioned, Top Dasher really gets you nothing but dash now. its being over 50% acceptance rate that will get you better orders, being over 70% gets you even better orders.
For now just having a catering bag doesn't always qualify you for Catering orders, you have to be invited by an email form DD to get LOP (large order program).
Stats for LOP is over 4.7 customer rating 95% or over completion rate 100 order in past month, 200 lifetime deliveries and a verified catering bag. If you do not meet this every month they will drop you off LOP/catering program.
They are doing pilot programs in three states right now, that will have silver, gold and platinum tiers. If it works out and they implement it to all markets, top dasher and LOP will change for people on these programs. The only way to still get LOP/catering orders and the ability to dash now ,will be getting to Platinum tier which is to have 4.7 or higher customer rating , maintaining 70% or higher AR and 95% or higher completion rate.
I myself have maintained all these stats since October 2022 , I am in LOP/catering program and can make up to $200 in just 2 hrs as I can get back to back catering orders , usually get 4 to 5 LOP in a dinner shift and lunch shifts I get a few as well.
Biggest secret to maintaining high AR is to never dash when map is grey and only dash during peak times, lunch and dinner. When non peak times use other apps like Uber eats , grubhub and spark. If you dash when map is grey on DD, you will get priority to crap orders lowering your AR if you decline them

hard to explain through text. but when you accept the orders. there’s three lines at the top right of the screen and it should give you options about the order your on

My area is fucked top dasher is not as it was before I was used to be making $100 in 4 hours down to $100 in 10 hours 😢

I feel bad to those that don’t have it
I made top dasher. This month had my acceptance rate up to 87% and then they started sending the massive amounts of $3 runs or $12 runs 16 miles. Out in the woods and then they would send it to me 3 different ways with $2 more. Dropping my acceptance rate I started documenting. I did 36 deliveries rejected 5 and I only went down 5 on rating didn't go up at all. From my experience as top dasher they send you more garbage runs with a few good ones knowing you're gonna fight To keep your rating up so you can make top dasher again it's not worth it
McDonald's is really a inconvenience to doordash drivers

I’m in a S**t market and would not survive without top dasher.
Huge area appx 12X12 miles with a combined population under 60K and median household income under 55K😢
So remote that I have to drive 4 hours to a decent market 🤯
Luckily I have other reasons to go there and family to stay with.
Don’t use the doordash bags in your car bro, if you get into a accident you’re f*cked. Use black non branded bags and keep it in your trunk. Keeps your car smelling good too and not like food. 💯
Not if you have insurance allowing you to deliver, so best not to lie to your insurance provider to save only a few bucks, it only cost about $20 more a month to have proper insurance. Also them seeing the many extra miles you put on car will red flag you if in an accident and then they will find out why and then find out who you are delivering for. It is not worth it if you are caught and if you are caught they will deny coverage/payment and you can get sued if you are at fault.
