I'm more of an Orbital Gatling guy myself. It has a larger AoE, last longer and has an even shorter cooldown. Not to mention it can heavily damage the big bugs too. Since they're so slow or outright stationary, any Impaler that spawns is nearly guaranteed to die.
While I wouldn't place it S-tier against bugs, imho, Orbital Gas is S-tier against automatons. Not only does it CC massive areas, it also destroys detector towers on direct hits and has an 80 second CD so you can spam it on patrols or dropships and then have it ready for taking out objectives or outposts.
Just the CC alone on gas can help bugs stay put if you wanna use cluster bombs or airburst. It’s also great slowing down bug breeches to give you or your team a couple seconds to get ready.
Gas on bots is far from S tier. Maybe C tier. Bots never huddle up. If you've even played D10, there's like 5-6 bot drops when you're 2+ players and the enemies are all over the place. Not to mention barely kills shit. I can take a turret and kill 5x the enemies and I don't need to think about it.
Nice loadout! I think its biggest weaknesses would be against shreikers, with the senator as your secondary. When I use the crossbow I bring the redeemer as a secondary specifically for shreikers and things go much smoother
Launch ICBM against bugs is *always* a bile spewer except extremely rarely on Defense campaigns. The enemy types aren't random and can be predicted. ICBM is the easiest to predict because you don't really have to remember anything. It's always the same.
@@jonathanbeers7098 ICBM always has bile spewers. Flag raising always has nursing spewers. Data Upload and Evacuation seem to be tipped towards Hive Guards. Not worried about the stealth. I love playing the medium scout armor with the radar booster and just being able to call out bugs and bots to help the team move around easier.
You can use the gas strike WAYYYYYYYYYY more. the cooldown is so short you should be using it more often than you do thermites. Legit anytime you're reloading you can throw it out. It's 4 presses of 2 buttons that's super easy to remember. It works on every single bug too and provided there aren't too many hunters you can almost always either break contact or full clear patrols with intelligent usage of it.
Gas currently doesn't confuse impalers, the tentacles were behaving strangely so they made them immune, hopefully temporarily. Gas orbital and grenade is still great against bugs
@senor_shwerk8945 yes and no. Gas grenades and gas strikes don't stun. So if they're already in the animation where they put their head back and start calling for friends when you gas strike them, they technically can call for one. However, a poisoned bug will not start the animation. They'll be moving and attacking randomly instead. So... the answer is it's complicated. Lol.
2:04 I actually learned that the crossbow can easily take down an impaler with one magazine by shooting the soft face part when it is using the giant tentalce attack
Gas strike bug breach or just in front of bug breach to stop the bugs in their tracks or at least slow them down > orbital napalm > walk away like a boss. S tier strategy.
If Orbital Gas isn't S tier, i don't know what is. Its versatility and ridiculously short cool down make it one of, if not the best tactical strategem in the game. And if you think differently, you likely aren't using it properly.
I'd prolly run the verdict instead of the senator tbh, no point in needing heavy armor pen against bugs on a sidearm, medium pen is enough and verdict fires and reloads fast enough for sustained fights
Nah think the game developers are rewarding skill with a weapon that isnt just spray and pray. Takes skill to aim a crossbow and use it in an effective manner. Really follows the philosophy that the game developers are going for. Reminds me of how older generation video games felt.

I love this guy: 'Dude how fricken geeky is that, ive been playing this game way to fricken much.' 2 seconds later: 'I see a fucking rock and its like, 'oh!'....'
Excellent gameplay and loadout. If playing with a group, I'd recommend swapping the gas strike for the quasar cannon. This build relies heavily on thermites to take out heavies, which is fine for solo, but if you have to share the resupply, you might struggle to have enough thermites to defend yourself. That is when you need the quasar, and the gas strike is the most situational of the loadout.
@deathsquadanthrax I run the quasar cannon, jump pack (shield pack is an alternative) then the machine gun sentry and any orbital barrage. Typically use the punisher shotgun for stunlocking most medium enemies, and I'll switch to the senator sidearm for the hive guards. Impact grenades or gas grenades when I'm being swarmed.
