I got directed to your channel through another channel called Jaclyn Glenn in which (I think) they were saying that your channel is problematic or anti feminist or something like that? I am not sure as I didn’t watch their video all the way through. Instead, I went to your channel and watched some of your videos to form my own opinion.
I have since been subscribed to you and have watched everything you’ve posted. I, myself, am a feminist, a working woman, and not very religious. Regardless of this fact, I still find that your channel is chalk full of wisdom and wonderful advice for women of every background. You often phrase things in such a way that lets your viewers know that you don’t judge them for whatever their personal beliefs or choices may be, that all of your advice is literally just what works for you. And I love that. I have absolutely loved your channel even though you and I live very different lives.
EDIT: My original comment said “God is Grey” but I meant Jaclyn Glenn 😑

That's a total twisting and Ill intended wrong interpretation of what God is Grey said. She doesn't have a problem with her channel, she admitted she liked it and even defended her until she found Caitlin's Twitter and saw that she retweets and likes incel people like "The transformed wife" who literally defended marital rape.

God is grey doesn’t have probelm with her youtube channel, she was talking about her twitter which had likes and retweets from The Transformed Wife channel which is... a horrifying channel to say the least.

I love her but it’s ignorant to assume that because someone can have good points that they can’t also be toxic. Like this video can exist and be so wonderful and tomorrow she could post a video about how racism isn’t all that bad. Not that she would but... people are allowed express concern where they see fit.

    • @SpriteoftheDnieper
      @SpriteoftheDnieper 4 года назад +18

I’ve watched a critique video of her; they critiqued her for statements taken out of context or otherwise misinterpreted. For instance, she cautioned young women to avoid going into debt for colleges, especially if their future career choice wouldn’t financially warrant it. She suggested working part time while going to an online college or a community college before possibly transferring after the first 2 years. She brought up going to a less expensive state school. She also brought up alternatives of a gap year (personally, I think everyone should do this!), starting a full time job immediately, etc. The person critiquing her attacked her for advising women not to go to college and arguing that going to college didn’t necessarily have to incur debt-ie, they had the same POVs 🙈 Most other critiques were similarly out of context/misinterpreted. Granted, someone can be toxic while positive, and I might not always agree with everything she says. Overall, though, I love her and wish I’d found her sooner. And personally, I think she’s exactly what feminism needs nowadays: valuing and giving women the right to choose their priorities, life paths, and choices. Valuing not just masculine traits, but feminine ones as well. Respecting women’s choices and enabling them to make those choices (ie, women and men should have equal opportunities to choose a career as an engineer, but women should also have the right to value their family life first or for choosing to be a homemaker).

That’s interesting what you said about becoming higher maintenance and I totally agree! Because I noticed when I don’t put as much effort into my outfit or hair or just maintaining other areas in life, life doesn’t feel as fun, I don’t feel like my best self and therefore might not be as confident. Someone once said my makeup look brightened their day 🤣 I think it’s a matter of showing yourself that your life is important, that you value yourself, and respect the people at whatever event you are going to by bringing the best version of yourself.

everything we do this side of eternity requires commitment and often effort especially as women. Being a home maker is frequently viewed as an easy out. From one who has worked outside of the home and also not working outside of the home... my straight up home maker years required allot more self discipline. ALLOT more. Especially taking care of myself...so easy to let that slip and it doesn't take long before you find all other areas slipping in care and attention as well. Good advice wish someone had shared it with me 25 years ago.

A tip I would add that may be obvious is to address mental and physical health concerns. They will linger around if you don't address them. I know a lot of us ladies can kind of ignore our health to care for other things and I know I needed to hear someone else encourage me to take it seriously, so it might be good to just hear that.

Mrs. Midwest! Do you ever like wearing a variation of pigtails? I’ve grown my hair out very long for the Lord. It is my covering. But I find it hard to work without it getting in the way, when I want to keep it down to enjoy! So I have been doing half up/half down with pigtails. I believe in modest dressing, but for some reason they are very enticing for the hubby!

    1) I’m working on improving my look atm. I moved to a new place and I noticed I can’t really wear some of the things I used to wear back in my home state. Thanks partly to you, I have motivation to make my look more feminine. It will be a slower process because of money and time.
    2) The daily gratitude one is one I need to work on too. Especially when I get impatient about things not falling into place when I want them too.
    3) One aspect of this one is again, the patience. But another aspect is being more wise with my money. I have a bad habit of spending a lot on food and clothes and while those are things I do need, I don’t need to spend soo much on them.
    4) The emotional aspect is one that’s new territory to me. I’m not used to vulnerability but slowly and surely I’ve been trying to be more vulnerable. But I also know it’s one thing I need to control.
    5) That’s a whole new take on higher maintenance that I never thought about. Usually when people talk about being “high maintenance,” they usually refer to someone sucking all the emotions out of you.

Loved this one Caitlin! Especially about being more ‘high maintenance’. God made us to take care of ourselves, others and our environments. It is satisfying and nurturing to pay attention to this area and to be unapologetic about taking care. I’ve felt guilty before about wanting to care about certain things that my friends were more blasé about, but that statement gave me more freedom to be unapologetically caring about my looks, my lifestyle, my beliefs and especially about the Lord! God bless girly! Keep on going sharing God with other ladies!

Good points made! Great video! Especially the point about “self-parenting” or being firm with yourself. I practice that! Firm love as I like to call it when my children ask, is so very important because it promotes self discipline in children and the same happens to ourselves when we practice tough love of ourselves. In today’s culture that is received as mean but it is the complete opposite. It is complete love because you care enough to do something to change for the better. Not an easy or popular concept but very important. Great channel, I just found you a week ago and I love the content!

You are such a wise, pleasant, sweet and beautiful lady 💖 I already lost 11 kilos (which is equivalent to 24 lbs) and I really feel better with my body and appearance. But you convinced me to go further: I want to take better care of my hair and I started to put oil the night before washing them; I also want to look more feminine and put together so I decided to put nail polish every week! I already got compliments from one of my friend saying I really look nice!! Thank you so much for your advice 💖 Lots of kisses from Paris ! (PS: you're becoming more beautiful each day, love your bangs!!)

Good point on being high maintenance. It's okay to take care of yourself, but not okay to force someone to take care of you.

I love your point on being more "high maintenance". It occured to me at some point that the pressure to be "low maintenance" or a cool and unbothered girl was really just a way of invalidating my sense of self. If being authentic about who I am and what my needs are means being "high maintenance" so be it, right? Heck the stereotypes.

Everything you just described is me. : (
I'm trying to work on myself this year but it's also hard when I feel behind on life because I'm 30 and still in college and living at home.. I got married young and had a terrible divorce at 26 and ever since then iv been playing catch up on life. And that's really hard to do when I'm in college working on a degree all whilst working at a part time job cause I go to school full time. So I'm iv been stuck in feeling mediocre

      Hey Lisa,
Dont worry theres others out there like you. I got divorced at 24 as well, and i started medical school at 25. I’ll be in the same position as you . It’s ok. We rebuild, we get stronger, and we create what was always meant for us. You’re doing great :)

Lisa Luxx I’m sorry you had to go through that. I feel like I’m behind in life too. I went to college and have my degree, but I cannot get a job that pertains to my major. When temp jobs call me for an opportunity, it’s for a customer service type of job. I got married young and I feel like a failure as a wife because I’m not making enough money to support us. I just hope you’re doing great right now and I will keep you guys in my prayers. I cry about my situation almost every week.

Yesss. I get so happy when you upload!
To go along with putting yourself together and leveling up with just looking your best: I recently read a quote from Read Homemaking that was along the lines of when you put yourself together it helps you with your confidence for the day and is motivating.
I also really appreciate your constant motivation to be more self disciplined. I like what you said about self parenting. It’s for sure something I need to work on lately.

You don't push anything, you share your beliefs...never pushing, you actually promote self-love and options...I see nothing wrong here. I actually love your channel and look up to you! This is the best video for me! Honestly aaaalll of the points you made are true for myself and my struggles. I'm 23 almost 24...so I think we are the same age, but you are so much more adult than I am. Though I'm finishing university in june, and I still live with my parents. Which are two factors that made me stay in a more of a "student- less mature- less adulting state". But it is very much time to change...which is going to come naturally two, since I have to start working. All this time studing take up all my time. I coudn't spare time for hobbies, I didn't read as muh about the things I'm intersted in- and I feel I become a less interestig person like this. And also...more lazy. Because when I have time to rest, I usually spend it rather passivly...I'm tired -phisicaly, mentally, emotionally- university took away all my motivation...energy...
But I should not wait until the point when I move away from my parents to make actions- though it is a bit hard when they often treat me like a child.
I struggle the most with hipersensitivity. My emotions controll me so much- and so other people can do so easily. I depend too much on their support. So whenever there is a conflict with my partner-it can really put me in a desperate, sad mood. And affects my daily life.
So I would very much appreciate if you could cover this topic more, on how to become less emotionally driven-controlled. It is not healthy. But I feel that if I weren't feeling those emotions- that would mean I don't care. So where is the balance between caring but not being affected so much.... it is difficult for me.
Thank you for the video! I'm going to whatch again, and take notes!
    Take care :)

    1. Put more effort into my look
    2. Daily gratitude
    3. Be harder on yourself - effort, discipline, take action
    4. Step away from passive aggression (bring it up in convo or get over it) and hyper emotion
    5. Become higher maintenance on personal growth, expecting more from friendships

I totally resonate with your view on being higher maintenance and not feeling bad about it. Even on a physical level, women nowadays are supposed to be "effortlessly beautiful". If we want to put effort in our looks, we are often ridiculed or called vain. Of course it is nice to be told that I look beautiful even if I just rolled out of my bed in the morning. But if I put effort in my appearance I don't want to be told, that other people prefer me "naturally". I just want them to appreciate the work I put in. Or at least say nothing if you just want to tear me down unnecessarily.
