    Hey ladies!
Just a note: you will notice that I didn’t share my exact calorie amount. This is because it is different for every person based on their height, lifestyle, gender, and desired weight goals.
You can calculate this by using this tool: www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html
Again, I don’t think calorie counting is the right fit for everyone, but it definitely helped my life and my understanding of my diet! As always, check with your healthcare professional, and take things easy.
I want you to blossom and flourish, and you can’t do that if you’re overly obsessed with weight and diets!
Wishing you all the best and all my love.
    Xoxo,
    Cait

Indian and Middle Eastern recipes really helped me get back in shape. I'm not vegan/vegetarian, but introducing all those herbs/superfoods/vegetables into my diet benefited me a lot, plus, I learned more styles of cooking. My cousin is half vietnamese, and they eat a lot of brothy foods which is *great* for cutting out calories in the winter and fall time.

The same I noticed with Korean food. They have a lot of delicious side dishes of fresh and even fermented vegetables. I notice eastern cultures also eat together more than individually. My mom always says eat to live not live to eat. Many Americans have stopped listening to innate signs that tell us we are full. My husband and I eat our plate and converse which allows our brain and stomach to communicate. After some time if we were still hungry we get a little more. Usually we would be full. My husband was able to get his over eating under control by doing this.

It's crazy that this advice would be seen as alternative. Nowadays, everyone is doing high impact workouts and expensive spin classes, tea detoxes, weight loss pills, juice cleanses, etc. It's just the "health industry" making money off of people. It's all about sustainable methods of moving your body that fit your lifestyle, portion control, and making healthier food choices + not drinking our calories in coffees or alcohol.

    • @KateKaden

I totally AGREE! I was just thinking how refreshing this was but how odd it was that the thing that is even more simple and obvious, we have to feel almost BAD about if we want low impact and not so rigorous. Know what I mean? Really enjoyed bringing it back to basics in this video. Great video!

I worked for an older south Korean doctor, and him and his slim petite wife told me there is an actual weight taboo in their culture. Ya just dont let it happen. End of story. It's not accepted and they are taught healthy eating habits from birth, so the only ones who were obese had major genetic issues out if their control. Reminds me of the U.S. a few generations back.

Hello! I’ve been thinking that God is truly working through your content for a while now, but I’m certain of it today. This video pushed me away from making a risky diet choice for myself. I’m a 16 year old former ballerina who has a really toxic relationship with food. Emotional eating, binging, beating myself up on a daily basis.. it’s just horrible. I was, THIS AFTERNOON, going to start the carnivore diet in an effort to fix my awful relationship with taking care of my body. There’s nothing so bad about the carnivore diet if you have the right reasons but I was doing it from a place of so much hate and fear. And then this video popped up in my notifications and well, I’ve watched it twice now and I’m rethinking some things. You’ve put some new ideas in my head about really nourishing my body instead of beating it into submission. Your perspective on true health is very valuable and something a lot of people need to hear. Fixing my relationship with food is not going to be easy and it’s going to take a long long time, but I just want to credit you with encouraging my heart to pursue true health instead of some kind of stringent control. If you could pray for me on this journey? I’ll be praying for you myself. Thank you, you’re doing beautiful work. ♥️

Girl, I'm so happy to hear that you're ending that vicious cycle today... Or at least waking up and being aware of the madness of it all. When I was 15 I was underweight (5'6 and 113 lbs) from intense cross country and aside from that I ate according to my hunger cues. When I quit cross country I gained 10 lbs.
You would've thought that I was up next on My 600 Lb Life by the way I reacted and saw myself. I spent the next several years with a TOXIC disordered relationship with food, and with the binge and purging, I was only able to cut out purging, so I gained another 15 lbs.
When I got to college (at age 18) I got serious about my weight. And that's when I found Freelee the Banana Girl, and I wish I never had. I tried the HCLF vegan thing, Raw til 4, and then every fad diet that came out, keto, etc. Let me just say, the first few weeks of every diet I saw amazing results, and then I would snap and binge. I gained about another 13 lbs from these cycles (161 lbs @ age 21). Officially in the overweight category.
I have since lost the weight, (age 24) I'm in a healthy zone, I found love (happily married... He actually proposed at my highest weight). In the end, the constantly seeking for the PERFECT diet was such a scam. I lost the weight by following her EXACT advise. Calorie count, go on walks, find a sport you enjoy and move around a bit more.
Please, please, please check out these videos. I wish I would have seen these videos 10 years ago to save me from all this.

She debunks a lot of the crazy "Uber healthy" lifestyles promoted by vegans (she's vegan herself, I'm not). And in the way she taught me A LOT about nutrition, which is WAY more important about healthy, especially once you're in the healthy range.
      Abby Sharp:
      ruclips.net/video/UT8KRE5GPlw/видео.html
Abby sharp is a dietician that reviews other people's what I eat in a day, I picked this one randomly, but if you ever follow someone and if what they eat is too good to be true, or your skeptical, see if she has a video on it first.

All of these women use science and link the articles (most of the time).
You're the first person I've ever written this out for. But I heard you asking for a prayer and I felt it in my soul. I know what it feels like to be desperate for ANYTHING to work. I kind of figured it hasn’t happened yet for privacy reasons, which I so, so respect, but I definitely would love to see a vid on this :) it’s really hard to discern who’s good to go to for guidance and who’s not, with all of the recent influx of exploitive “self care” businesses out now, and so many sketchy cult-y spiritual “teachers”- you are one person I would trust advice on this from :) I was shocked to find out were the same age (you’re only 2 years older than me) because I typically don’t trust the advice or intentions even of people in this bracket, and the way you’re glowing and just have your life together is intimidating but in a good way

      Hi Sheila,
If I may? Healing from a dysfunctional childhood is challenging, but the earlier you tackle it, the sooner you will begin to enjoy fully this life you've been given. It sounds like a cliche, but it's so true-the sky will be bluer, the breeze will touch your skin and speak to you of things, food will be sweeter and colors more vivid and of greater depth and meaning.
Healing never happens without, and usually happens concurrent with, forgiveness.
Forgiveness comes when you realize the perpetrator is only acting out what they know-what they were taught-what they were oppressed with. Even if you can't forgive at the outset, if you can just hold space for that truth-hurt people hurt people and they don't know what they don't know.
When it comes to your healing, what you want is called "shadow work". It deals with uncovering and making conscious to you what your real core beliefs are which are stored in the subconscious mind and in the felt senses of the body.
Read, The Body Keeps Score: Your Brain, Mind and Body on Trauma by Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk and you'll understand. God bless!

Eating more homecooked and less drive through, fast food, processed from frozen meals or cans is what really helped me. I know its been said before but guys, it's amazing the amount of crazy stuff in frozen microwavable meals, and restaurant foods.

I just discovered you and this video is the second one I watched. It really resonated with me and made me cry my eyes out. I use yo be obese (I am only 5'2 and I weighed 190lbs when I was 23 years old. I am currently 39). I had been the chubby girl my entire life, but it got severely out of control in my early 20's while taking care of my terminally ill mother. After her death I decided I needed to make major lifestyle changes and after 18 months of a complete diet and exercise overhaul I had lost 70 lbs. After another 6 months I lost 15 more pounds bringing my weight down to 105lbs. I managed to keep my weight between 105-112lbs even after having 3 kids until August of last year. There have been too many emotional and traumatic events that my body is just shutting down. I starting gaining weight without even trying. From 112lbs up to 132 currently. It is the most uncomfortable I have been in my skin in 16 years. I'm not binge eating, but I know I'm not moving enough. I appreciate this post.

i LOVE food too! That was the reason why I was overwieght for most of my life and I still eat a lot but a reasonable amount still
The way I lost weight is by getting a nutritionist who gave me an amazing mealplan based on a blood test..I just kind of stuck to it,the food was extremely delicious and lost weight quickly
I feel like that's the best way
currently I eat whatever I want but rarely ever sugar..And of course in my calorie limit,it keeps you sane

It’s nice to know I’m not wrong because I prefer walking and biking to the gym and that calorie counting can be healthy and effective vs. no meat, no carbs, etc. I’m a new subscriber and constantly amazed at how much knowledge you have at such a young age. Sitting at the table to eat my meals really helped me to lose weight. My family got into the habit of eating on the couch for every meal. I wanted to make eating an event so that my mind would feel satisfied and know that eating time was done. My family didn't join me at first so I would eat at the table alone and enjoy the view outside the window.

I find that starting my day with a certain smoothie helps keep my hunger down all day long.
    Blueberries
    Almond milk
    Half banana
    Frozen spinach
Vega berry plant based protein powder
(Oats if preferred can be added too)
Sooo good!! The Vega berry protein powder makes the smoothie taste amazing! Not a fan of their other flavors.

I have lost 30 pounds this year and 50 from my highest. I grew up with bad food and was pregnant two years in a row with the notion pregnant women can eat as much as they want! I calorie count, walk on my two breaks at work, and this month I have myself a yoga everyday challenge. I also started a homemade exercise plan for targeting toning since I have lost enough weigh to start having looser skin.
I am also eating for health and beauty. Fill up on the things that provide benefits to you and you won't be hungry to want the junk.
Also consume more fermented foods for better gut health. More water and sleep too! And exercise!

Jogging and lifting heavy weights has never made me feel more confident or healthy, neither has a restrictive diet. My healthiest self is someone that dances everyday, gardens, does chores, etc! My grandmother is 78 years old and still gardens, dances, kayaks, and walks miles and miles! And she eats what makes her feel good and happy. I look up to her everyday for this! Thank you for setting the record straight! You also motivated me to listen to this video WHILE doing the dishes😂💕

Also, "treat" yourself to something everyday. Give youself a snack, something not necessarily healthy but not unhealthy/junkfood. I try not to eat anything in between meals and drink only water EXCEPT for my afternoon coffee (with only some creamer) and a banana (if my siblings haven't eaten them all).
And only drink one mug of coffee a day if you aren't drinking it black, and try drinking it in the afternoon insteaf of the morning (I always feel yucky drinking it in the morning).

I love your advice!! Finally a RUclipsr giving realistic tips and not trying to sell us useless and expensive detox products. I was never overweight, but I noticed that I would easily gain 5+ pounds whenever I would live with my parents in Canada. I really think it has to do with the portion sizing in Japan, where I’m currently living, and the fact that I’m living by myself here. Since I’m doing my own grocery, I don’t buy tons of cookies and chips, so I’m not tempted to eat before going to bed. I know that I don’t have self control for snacking at night... living by myself really made a huge difference in my eating habits!

This is great advice and I like that all your advice is focused more on healthy living, and weight loss is just often a side effect. A lot of "weight loss advice" is so focused on weight loss that it starts neglecting actual health. This is good advice for everyone even if you aren't trying to lose weight. I have a fast metabolism so I don't need to lose weight but I do need to start eating better an exercising more.

Kale and a bootcamp! 😂 So funny! Something that you said here Caitlyn that you also mentioned a long time ago and that has worked for me personally is eating well within the calorie window. This makes sense to me, and helps avoid the obsession. Of course we need to be comfortable and not overdo the calorie counting as well.

As someone who has dropped the ~20lbs between "uuuuggghhhhhh I'm getting thicc" and "I feel great" over the past couple years, this is spot on. Just start with keeping track of your calories so you have a baseline of how much you're eating, and find some activities you like to do/that make you feel good/that you look forward to. In my case, it was walking everywhere and swimming. Exploratory swimming amongst fish in rivers and lakes doesn't feel like exercise at all - it's an adventure. Dancing on the bottom of the pool is a meditational escape... but you'd never catch me dead doing laps. You're an inspiration, keep doing what you're doing.

For me I have very skinny legs and have my fat mostly on my stomach. Weights has helped me balance out my look. I also found that eating healthy is easy and I never felt like I needed to know the calories. I just eat when I’m hungry stop when I am full. I have treats in my home but I fully allow myself to have as much of it as I want with no guilt. I have found that when I don’t restrict I don’t ever touch it. I have Oreos that went bad before I even opened it haha. And I loooove oreos! Also I feel like it’s good to have those treat foods in the house because then when ur out or at someone else’s house you have learned how to handle treats.

I love your advice! I’m a freshman in college, and campus is moderately large. The best way to get to class is either walking or biking. I probably do have time to go to the rec center, but it’s all the way across campus and a little inconvenient, even though they have a wonderful facility. All this walking and biking around has made me more active than I was in high school, and I’m also fasting intermittently on a regular basis. So far I think I’ve skimmed down a little. It has only been a couple of weeks since school started, so I’m excited to see myself at the end of the year.

Also, when it comes to health/weight loss, I learned that our bodies can actually confuse thirst for hunger. So when you're feeling like having a snack, drink a big glass of water and wait a minute or two. If you're still hungry afterwards, eat something because it means you're actually hungry and not just thirsty.

  • @Laurora111
    @Laurora111 5 лет назад +2

Thats all true. As a dancer, yoga and fitness instructor, I wouldnt recommend bootcamp or very high impact training regularly for women anyways. The stress levels rise, masculine energy will be released and in a longer perspective its not giving a woman feminine glow and smoothness. Pilates, yoga and dancing (depending on the specific style) are very much helping women to stay in shape, healthy and glowing. If you are not 20 - 30 anymore, you should also include some external weights if you want to have a more defined shape. Foremost your spine will thank you for this in your later years. Lifting some weights will not give you masculine muscles immediately like some women fear. Staying in shape = 70% how you eat, 30% how you move.

  • @rutheli
    @rutheli 5 лет назад +3

I love this video and am so glad you made it. I really relate to your approach when it comes to fitness. I have always loved walking and lower impact workouts (and find that my body responds really well to walking) but have always felt like they weren’t legitimate or something since they weren’t high impact, high intensity. It’s so encouraging to know that yes, you CAN achieve health, wellness and fitness with a gentle, “lazier” approach that’s sustainable, slow and successful. I also have always felt instinctively that I should Always Be Moving (thought I sometimes struggle to apply it) and this doubly encourages me to make it more of a point. Finally, your approach both to food and mindset is really helpful. I yo-yo dieted so intensely in my teens that I think I burned new pathways in my brain circuits. Even thinking of calorie counting sends me into a tailspin of wanting to binge. It’s something I still need to work on. But lately I have been doing a lot of research on mindset and it’s shocking to me how long I’ve neglected that very necessary element of weight loss!
My one question is this: I am a God-fearing young woman. I have always struggled with a fear of walking alone and I live in an area where lots of drunk and homeless men wander the streets. How do you overcome the fear of walking alone as a woman? I struggle even to wear earphones because I want to remain alert. I fully believe God is my shield and will protect me but my mother trained me to be extremely cautious at the same time. How do I find a balance?

I also live in Michigan and I bet a few of your subbies do too, are you having a meetup anytime soon or have you thought about it? God bless! Keep doing what you're doing, God is shining through you!

I enjoy your take on a healthy lifestyle! I Love gentle exercise. I am a Pilates Instructor and very much enjoy this form of exercise, it is is low impact and feels good in the moment, with amazing results to follow. I never wanted to feel like my fitness was torture!

There's a thing called Trim Healthy Mama that works for a /ton/ of people. There is no calorie counting, it's more like carb cycling. I lost 40lbs just doing it half-heartedly, no exercise.
Right now, I'm trying to find "my foods" - love that you brought that up. Also, I've realized that I can't bring stuff into the house or, like you said - I'm going to eat it. All. I'm going to eat every everloving crumb of it. And FAST. :o/
    Walking is the BEST!!!!!

This is so helpful. Your take on things is so much more compatible with my lifestyle because it is much more open and individually adaptable than the rather rigid advice of many popular influencers. Also, it allows for the obvious demands of my day as a working mother who also wants to reserve some time for her relationship and create a harmonious home. Thank you for the advice and your non-judgmental clarity!

Thank you for this! I've been doing intermittent fasting for almost at year at this point and I also eat my meals later in the day. I'm literally never hungry in the mornings and listening to my body has been the best thing for me, instead of over-feeding it day after day.
