The treatment approach depends on the patient's overall health and the condition of the liver, as well as the stage of the cancer. For small tumours, surgery is recommended, while liver transplantation may be advised for larger tumours in a damaged liver. Radiowave ablation or microwave ablation is used to burn the tumour.
Radiation therapy is another treatment modality for liver cancer. TACE (Transarterial Chemoembolization) and TARE (Transarterial Radioembolization) are newer treatment options available. Systemic therapies, which include immunotherapy and targeted therapy, are administered either orally or through injections and are considered the most effective treatment for advanced stages of liver cancer.
