  • Come see where I lived while I worked as an ALT in Japan :D
(Feel free to speed up the video, it's a bit long haha!)
    Timestamps:
    0:24 Entrance
    1:13 Living and dining room
    4:35 Bedroom
    12:04 Kitchen
    14: 32 Bathroom
    16:50 Conclusion
    Some additional information:
-While I lived here, my rent was 75,000 yen which was later hiked up to 81,000 yen inclusive of wifi, utilities.
-I didn't have my residence card when I signed the contract so my passport was accepted.
-Pets weren't allowed as far as I knew.
-We could have guests overnight for free for a limited number of nights a month.
-I renewed my contract every six months.
-We had a lovely lady come in twice a week to clean the common areas, but you are expected to clean up after yourself when using the kitchen and bathrooms.

It is expensive, yes, but my initial move in fee with the apartment Borderlink provided me was exorbitant. If I compare both amounts for the time I was in Japan, what I paid for my share house vs the amount I would have had to pay had I chosen the BL apartment in my school area- it comes up to almost the same number.
Apart from that, as I have mentioned in the video, this choice definitely made my life a lot easier. I never had to buy furniture, never had to set up gas/water/ and internet connection. I never had to worry about disposing off my furniture when I moved out.The area I lived in was also important to me- It was safe, residential area with a lot of young families. The train station was a five minute walk away, I had multiple supermarkets, pharmacies/medical supply stores, conbinis, clinics and restaurants within a 15 minute walk. I had a massive, fully-equipped kitchen (basically impossible to come by in a 1K). I had people around me right from the word go and all these people ended up becoming very good friends. If I was ever sick or needed help, there was always someone- you can't put a price on that (at least I couldn't).
I know of people that have had good experiences with apartments in Japan and I know those that haven't. At the given time, a share house seemed like the right fit for me and really proved to be so, right up until the day I left.

@@shivaasaemeow5771 😮 I see. I can see the difference now ... Also Ig in BL appartment it could have been lonely... The price seems reasonable now ...
      Thankyou for clarifying
