I’m a Gen Z, and Errol Flynn was my childhood hero. The fact that a film star from almost a century ago made such an impact on my life is a testament to the power of cinema.
Errol Flynn was so good in sword fights 🗡
The sword fight that sealed Flynn's reputation as the greatest swashbuckler of all time...
And poor Basil Rathbone was better and had to lose every time. 🤣
@@sdovas That's why he isn't in this film. He got tired of losing. Henry Daniell wasn't even a fencer hence the shadowy sword fight.
@@franknberry6397I always point out that the key factor to these great fights was the choreographer. In this case (and most of Flynn's films), Fred Cavens. He also did my favorite swordfight...in The Mark of Zorro (this one's my second fav).
I just love those dueling shadowed on the wall!
Brilliant Errol Flynn great actor died too soon only 50 short life but lived too the full RIP ERROL
Where are you, Errol ? Come back ! We miss you !!!
its basically the same swordplay in all swashbucklers , but i love em.
great use of shadows in this one.
I must disagree! There are touches in all the best Fred Cavens (the fight choreographer) fights, that fit the specific characters.
This is the best swashbuckler movie ever made
*i love this movie..it's wonderful*
The end duel between Anakin and Obi Wan in the Revenge of the Sith is so similar to this duel! It takes place indoors, is fast paced with them frequently locking and coming face to face, and there's the idea of a traitor between two closely-matched men
Listen to that Korngold score.
Yes the best Film Composer
Jack Warner had these great movies made!🙂
One of the best screen duels of all time. (Pity this clip cuts off before the climax!) Henry Daniell was not a skilled fencer, so was extensively doubled. Errol Flynn, as usual, was totally comfortable in a period adventure. Director Michael Curtiz was a master of light and shadow.
One of Flynn’s greatest films; a masterpiece from the Golden Age of Warner Brothers.
Flora Robson, egged on by Flynn's friends, ruined the take by making her entrance and, instead of pronouncing her line, proclaimed "break it up, boys" - the director was not amused.
Looking back at his work in Captain Blood, you can see how much his fencing technique has improved since then.
Baby Boomer here! Errol Flynn was my first Hollywood Hero, he had a screen appearance where people would just follow his lead look at "Robin Hood" and "The Sea Hawk"
Errol Flynn was amazing actor
I was a bit disappointed with this one but this scene was really something
porque no dabn las peliculas completas de errol flin
Sea Hawk .... hmmm, I like that name.
Haven't seen this movie, but by that description it doesn't have anything to do with Sabatini's book.
@@snakes6248 You're right. The movie kept some pieces of the novel but strayed away too far.
The movie is good but the novel is excellent.
Visited his Hollywood house before it was torn down.
The soundtrack was also used in Family Guy.
Indeed, but that version was performed by the Utah Symphony Orchestra. I found the track for that.
