too much money gets spent on them when it should be diverted to more important places.

Neloth Aren too much money being spent and the majority of inmates still aren’t getting their basic needs. Something ain’t right.
CDeezyy most of the problem is the prisoners themselves. many of them aren't fit for prison or life outside so I think death sentence (euthenasia) would make prisons safer for rehabilitating the others.
Thai prison does ok and no prisoner should be expecting any better. English prisoners get many luxuries they take for granted.
my main concern though is safety of prisoners from eachother. that's why I would regiment them and have them under tight control and observation all the time....
I do like that they do woodwork or nvq or open uni or play sport....
I don't like them dossing around playing pool like it's the pub.
the people who Rob/rape our grandma's and feel very little remorse. they shouldnt be in prison. they are just a waste of funds.

I have many questions to ask but I will ask one, Do you ever get to meet freemason in prison or anybody in a high society club? Will they be looked after in prison? Do you ever get to know if they are freemasons? Or are they so looked after that they will never get to prison? Thanks if you ever read and tell wildman I will have a rocky spliff for him.

Being a member of a club does not make a person immune to prosecution. Just look at all these college fraternity boys getting charged with felonies. They are in lots of clubs. Anybody can end up in the can.
However sometimes they get some type of break here and there like a Monopoly Get out of Jail card I'm sure.

What's the best self defence technique to learn anybody? As man in my late 30's I was involved in a very minor yet super aggressive confrontation recently and although I emerged without any visable physical damage (bit of head bumping ) that was largely because of 2 co- workers who basically held the guy away for 80% of the time as he continued to rush towards me. People may say just knock him out or whatever but number 1 I didnt wanna jeopardize my job and number 2 I was actually a little shook if I'm being totally honest as this guy caught me completely off guard and was very aggressive . I'm thinking of learning something just so I can protect myself and would appreciate some good advice from someone who knows what their talking about . Thanks.

I disagree with Shaun's conclusion that this was "just a heart check". The AB just wanted an ice-cream as a brotherly favour and lacked the social skills to express himself appropriately.
AB or not, it's out of order for John Abbott to mockingly label him as a "caveman", "something out of the fifth century". Delve deeper into the lives of these men and you'll find they were abused and neglected as kids pushing them permanently into social and material poverty.
