I purchased the first reissue back in 16. Having never experienced model D. I was blown away by its Power to shake the walls. Nothing sounds exactly the same. ❤❤
My experience was that to get the sounds you want it is effortlessly. With other synths, even though you can get the sounds, you need, gain, saturation, or even distortion. With this you turn a knob and it is there already. They say in their documentary that it was an engineer mistake to overdrive the filter, and that is where the roaring comes from. I still love the character of my Roland Se02 clone, for instance, love it’s sounds. But with the Mini Moog feels easier to get onto a mad lead, or sound Fx, percussion, by just twisting the knobs. The envelope is the only thing that bugs me, still can’t get my head around yet. But maybe I need to learn the workarounds.
Decay and Release are one and the same on the Minimoog….it makes it a 3 stage envelope that can add a parallel 4th stage with the decay switch on. The amp envelope is just as important on the minimoog as the filter one….this is because the external feedback responds according to the loudness dynamics! This means that you can actually get timbral shifts in distortion over time which is very nuanced and powerful! It’s very noticeable when you have a higher attack and slower decay times with external feedback on.
Have you had the chance to play them side by side? Yes I was biting my nails off when I saw the news on the 22 reissue. Pain in my wallet, music to the ears.
@@Heavy_Distortion cool to hear in first hand, I’ve seen some video comparisons. But to be honest I don’t have the cash or knowledge to keep a vintage and I am really satisfied with the sound of this one. Just 5k poorest 😑
I hope someday to actually play one of these legendary Moog synthesizers. The Model D is awesome looking and great job on demonstrating the basics. I just recently did a video featuring Moog as well on my channel.
I’ve already booked to watch it later. You will sure get to play one, I thought the fact that periodically they reissued the Model D makes it last rare and easier for people to play in one. For me it was a dream so when they announced I had a mixed feeling on now I will spend all that money on a mono synth and happiness to get to have one to play with. This was one of the reasons for me to have a channel and share this with other people like us.
@@ShaperSoundChannel Thanks for your reply to my comment. I do recall seeing a Moog Model D at a music store back in 1988. I almost purchased it. However I declined do to it's condition. Plus I had no space for it at the time.
@@soloharmonicsrobj8246 I had a similar story back in 2016 when they first reissue it, it was out of question for me to invest on a vintage, but I have retreat myself for not committing back than in 2016. Therefore as soon as they have announced the 2022 reissue I went for it with pain in my pockets but sure to not regret it again! Cheers!
Yeh me too. Want to oneday get an original vintage Model D. So far the virtual model D synths quench the thirst for one. Some of the virtual ones seem almost as good, but nothing like the original analog ones.
@@composerinny2160 Exactly, Back in the eighties I owned an Octave Cat analog synthesizer. I had to be cautious with the amp volume because I literally blew out a speaker with it as I recall. As for both my Oberheim OB-X and Minimogue (Moog) VST instruments, they do pack a punch!
I am totally with you. I also though I would never play in one of these. Due to a conjunction of facts in life I could get one now, but it was a family decision (not an easy one). Before I had the Roland SE02 and VSTs, but always kept an eye on Behringer, even more because I believe those companies takes the design a few steps further onto the future. Despite the Moog having really a special sound character to it, Moog has to be meticulous with the original design on those reissues, and the improvements they offer are limited, since they have to keep truthful of the original vintage. So I think the "clones" actually have a big space because they can stretch more the original design and try new stuff, besides the price, that makes these instruments much more accessible, of course.
I think this has been the dilemma for many who commented here. We once had a chance and regret it. So this time I have committed. But yes 500 was a bargain 😳
Gorgeous instrument ✌️
Awesome! Thank you for this wonderful presentation 👏. Very well done 👏! Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
It was difficult to keep the secret 🤐 but now I could share!!!

@@taftasay9550this I think is a crucial point, thank You
Lucky bastard. Worth every penny. There is only one. Got my model D reissue 2016. My original model D had to go. Reissue has perfect linear tracking.

@@ShaperSoundChannel Yes both side by side for a year. Trust me reissue sound is genuine. But reissue is tighter, tuned filter, sweeter. Nothing lost.

Great video. Really enjoyed this. Just subbed. Thanks for sharing. 🥷
Thanks a lot for the sub and for the incentive. It get me going!
Hot and steamy! I'm sweating around the collar from that unboxing.
Lol brother! But this is exactly how I felt when unboxing it, but translated in colors for everyone! Loved your comment!
As a Pink Floyd fan, I always wanted one of these. Can't afford one, but thank goodness for Behringer for creating an affordable clone

I wish I'd picked up a used Model D in the mid-90s for £550. Instead I bought a TR-909 and a Realistic MG-1.

This is exactly it, I should have bought one 3 separate times over the last 15 years. Now here I am spending 5k, but my future self will thank me.
.............eppure non suona come quello vecchio. Bello è bello ma, non ha quel suono.
I’ve never played on the 70s or 80s there must have been a difference for sure. But is hard to tell only from videos and so.
