Performed CPR on my Dad in September. He was already agonal breathing. Fire Rescue arrived around 4.5 minutes later they shocked him one time came back immediately. Said one minute he was sleeping in bed to the next two firefighters standing over him and he's on the ground. He made it he still has one more procedure to open up one more blockage. Thank you- i couldn’t understand why it ended so suddenly. I thought it was going to have a good ending after rehab. Sad story. I appreciate the advice to take foot off the brake and coast to a stop. God bless everyone who takes the risk of traveling in a car.

So incredibly sorry for the loss of this young man. I can’t imagine...and I hope to God I never have to. Prayers for peace and comfort for his loved ones.
What’s sad is that often times over-correcting results in a far worse accident than if they just let the car coast off into the median or wherever it was headed. But our brains work on auto-pilot (no pun intended) in situations where we sense danger, so if we veer into the grass our brains tell us “We aren’t supposed to be here. Fix it!” And thus we attempt to correct it, but we over-correct, and it often leads to a far worse outcome. I’m an ICU RN and I’ve had many patients who ended up in far worse accidents due to overcorrecting than if they hadn’t done that. It’s not their fault, it’s instinct, but it’s one of those times where our brain isn’t always making the best decision.
I really wish when in drivers ed they can teach everyone in real life scenarios of driving off pavement and into grass whether it's a shoulder or median and teach them not to jerk the wheel but to ride it out and slow the vehicle down slowly. I take a course to drive patrol cars and they throw us on a course to overcome uncontrollable slide like hydroplaning. We are taught to steer for an object. Im sure if in the real event I wouldn't remember half the words they taught us but atleast muscle memory should kick in and I won't freak out. Lost a few friends to over correction in steering. Happens alot in rural areas. Folks drop off the edge of road and jerk back on.
My boyfriend has drilled it into my head and also his granddaughter’s head “if you run off the road, 1st don’t panic. Take your foot off the gas, don’t hit the brakes when you speed slows some, when you are ready, turn wheel and ease back onto the road. All that could happen with your tires in the grass is you might pick up something to flatten a tire; better that than throwing your car out of control. One summer we had 3 or 4 young drivers killed “over-correcting”, one thing Down here Driver’s Ed has mainly been phased out of the schools. So all the rule learning they are doing is to pass the test. One stretch of our highway has become notorious for head on wrecks; caused by people texting and not maintaining their line. Passing on a double yellow line and stuff such as this. Definitely need to know rules so they can be reformed. Defensive Driving doesn’t pertain to only Senior Citizens, everybody needs to practice it
This is so true, 11yrs ago my ex husband and I lost one of our best friends, he was on his way to our house and after an hr we called, police officer answered the phone. Chris had ran off the road, tried to correct himself but when he did he flew across the street and hit a tree sideways, hitting his head. One of the saddest parts was when we went to see where it happened, the side that he ran off onto was a wide open field and our first thought was, why didn't Chris just coast to a stop and then get back on the road. Like you said though, when we find ourselves in situations such as this our fight and flight response takes over and unfortunately sometimes makes the wrong decision.
I graduated hs May 27,1988. My best friend that I had grown up with, and went everywhere together. Played sports together. We’re going to be roommates at college in a few months, Was tragically killed in a car wreck on July 27, 1988. I am 51 now, and to this day I have never been the same. I miss you every day Bryan Robert Fleming. See you again some day buddy.
So sad. I was the passenger in a car when we hit a school bus head on, it killed the driver and my best friend, I was in the hospital 3 months. I also just lost my only brother a year ago 36 years old. Life truly is short. Just lost my 20 year old cousin last week from a overdose
My wife lost her brother when she was 9 and he was 15. He was hit and killed on his motorcycle on the way to high school by a lady who was speeding. One of our grandsons is named after him. This kind of loss will affect the family forever. There will always be an empty chair at Christmas dinner. It is so hard and those who haven't suffered a loss like this are truly blessed that they will never feel this kind of pain. RIP Danny Joe 1949-1964
I can't imagine the pain involved when dealing with the loss of your child.. I lost my husband and that was an amazing tremendous loss but a child, that takes strength that I'm not sure I have..
Broke completely into tears, I was in an accident back in the end of September. I remember grabbing my moms arm as she’s crossing an intersection about to turn the wheel and a car just totally hits us from the side. I wake up and see my moms head hanging and she’s unconscious and I’m trying to pull her but I slammed my body on the dashboard on impact breaking my arm and femur. I didn’t wear a seatbelt. Please always wear a seatbelt. When I saw how bad the damage was, officers told me I could’ve flown out the windshield and that would’ve been the end of me... please wherever you go just wear a seatbelt.
Michelle m my cousin passed away in March 2018 this way they were blindsided and she flew out of the window. Didn’t die till we got to the hospital. So devastating yes please wear your seatbelt everyone
My sister and her children were wearing seat belts. They were hit side on so hard by a speeding car that it made no difference. My sister took the full impact and died in the ambulance about twenty minutes later just as the helicopter was landing of internal injuries. The children recovered physically but I don't believe any of us has ever fully recovered emotionally. This accident took place at a T-junction not even a 5 minute drive from their home. Be blessed all and be safe.
This broke my heart as she was crossing an intersection about to turn the wheel and the car just totally hits the other side this is so sad gosh bless y'all heart
the stickleys live about 20 min from me in a neighboring school district. the fact that this video came up on my recommendations is crazy to me. lots of my friends were impacted by him and i pray for his friends and family who suffered his passing.
I feel like if we followed our gut more and actually went through with what our body was telling us, we would save ourselves from so much heartache. I can’t imagine what this family must feel every day, I pray for them all. ❤️
I use to get so upset and mad when I would be running late and stuck behind someone going slow but I learned that it was Gods way of slowing me down and keeping me out of an accident. I have passed some bad accidents that if I had left a little early or that slow car wouldn't have been in my way I could have been involved in. And sometimes I get a gut feeling something is going to happen.
Jennifer Bain SAME!!! Now, I acknowledge that I was given a vibe and say, “THANK YOU” out loud. I slow my roll, turn up the radio, and get where I’m going stress free.
It's crazy that u say that, well that u wrote that and i just read it, bcuz i just said that the other day and i mean its so so so so true. If people wud just go with their gut bcuz your body never lies to you, so many things wud be so different for so many people. This topic is soooooo deep.
When I was 16 I ended up going off a steep ditch and I knew within a split second not to over correct cuz I knew my car would flip and that quick decision probably saved my life, so I just went with the car and ended up just going through a bad wire fence and it was okay. It’s hard cuz most would think turning the wheel quickly before would correct it but unfortunately it won’t.
A lot of medical examiners say people “died on impact” but my friend who was in a similar car accident with his GF said that when the car flipped and they were hanging upside down my friend was still squeezing his hand back and nodded she was ok” only for the police to get there and cover the car and say she’s gone. Medical examiner told her family she died on impact...He just remembers her holding his hand and nodding she was ok
Ughhhh.... This makes me think of the night my Dad died. Everybody rushing around, trying to contact everybody, trying to get to people, trying to get to my Mom as fast as possible to be with her. It was the most horrific day of my life.... I pray these families heal with time, as much as possible, eventhough time won't change things or bring people back, it does get better. But with that being said, it's been almost 20 years (nearly half of my life), since I lost my Dad, and you kinda always feel broken no matter how long it is. I think that's because when a loved one dies, a little piece of your heart dies with them. 💔
@@smudge1820 Thank you, It's crazy because it's been almost 20 years, but at times things will take me back to how things felt the night it happened. I think things will always be that way though. I'm so thankful I had the Father I did, I just wish I had him a bit longer in my life. 💔

I know your pain. I lost my son, Todd, who was 33yo in 2017. I couldn't get to his car because the sherriff wouldn't let me be with him in his last moments. My mother, DIL, and his 3 children (my grandbabies) were with him and lifeflighted to 3 different hospitals. My heart knows the depths of your sorrow. 💔
My heart goes out to you I know your heartache I’m still so heart broken you see I lost my husband 9 days short of 21 years because he was on a motorcycle and was hit head on I never got to see him it was recommended that I shouldn’t because of what the accident did to his body this was in 1994 and sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday . Time does help somewhat .
I am so sorry for the loss of your husband & that you weren't given the chance to say goodbye to him. I understand your heartache & know how it feels like it was just yesterday. Sadly time does not heal all wounds. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessons. But it is never gone.
I lost my best friend in a car accident almost 4 years next month. And it’s honestly the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. That pain never goes away and I just pray for peace for his family and friends. 🥺😔❤️
Came across this video, absolute devastating tragic. He was far too young with his life ahead of him to go so early. My thoughts are prayers are with all his family and friends. Rest in peace buddy! Sleep tight. 😇
Im in tears, no mother should ever have to do complete CPR on her own child. God bless every person and family member. RIP Eli, heaven shines brighter earth is dimmer with you heaven side now xx
My cousin died suddenly 10 years ago and my aunt did CPR on her for a little while before paramedics showed.. she has been extremely depressed ever since. She has said a few times that one cannot simply do CPR on their child and ever be okay again. So heartbreaking
My heart aches for them. My fiancé and I were mugged and he was murdered in front of me. Loosing someone in front of you so tragically affects your life forever. Ptsd and survivors guilt are horrific, flashback nightmares and the oddest thing sending you into a flashback so real you think you’re there. For me it’s sounds of helicopters, baseball bats and a certain chlorine scent. From the medivac, the bats they used to kill him and the pool nearby. I can’t imagine how these people deal with being in cars or on highways. Ugh. Sending them so so much love.
My son rolled our Jeep into a corn field a few months ago because of overcorrecting. He walked away with pretty much not a scratch. To this day, I don't he realizes how lucky he was. I think he might think I'm crazy for how terrified I was in the minutes it took me to comprehend the situation and to find out he was ok. Those were some of the most excruciating few minutes of my life. I might make him watch this. I don't know, but it breaks my soul to think about this poor family and the pain they're feeling. If my son was ok and it traumatized me, I can't imagine how they must feel. 😔💔
I am so sorry for your loss!! I truly hope people realize they need to be more focused when driving. Not distracted in any way. Back in October, a guy pulled out to cross in front of me who was on his phone and didnt see me as I was going 45mph, I hit him on my driver side, was stuck in my seat, door wouldn't open and was forced to deliver my 26week old baby who is still fighting for her life. People have to pay more attention, car accidents are absolutely the scariest thing. Prayers ♡
That’s a side of Tom brands you don’t see and it shows how much he really cares for his guys and there families and friends. The greatest day of those two kids lives to that point turned into their worst nightmare.
3:00 Ughhh... This takes me back to the night my Father died and my Mother didn't want to tell me because they were out of town when it happened. All she could get out was, _"He didn't make it..."_ The worst thing somebody can ever tell you. My heart goes out to these families and friends. 💔
There is nothing more horrifying than that call that there's been an accident and it's bad. My call came a few years ago. My brother, sister, close cousin, and friend were in a bad crash. They couldn't tell us if they were alive. So we drove 30 miles with all the worst thoughts. Passed the crashed truck on the way, with the roof cut off where they had to extricate them. They were lucky. They all had serious injuries but recovered. Scariest day of my life but we got them back. I feel so bad for people that don't get their loved one back.
"that's not Eli, that's his body" So true.
They will see him again 👼🏻
Just a perishable vessel that God lets us use, until he needs our soul by his side.

Alex remembers Hope saying, "That's not Eli, that's his body. He's gone now, he's in heaven." Eli died on impact.
Thank you- i couldn’t understand why it ended so suddenly. I thought it was going to have a good ending after rehab. Sad story. I appreciate the advice to take foot off the brake and coast to a stop. God bless everyone who takes the risk of traveling in a car.
God bless the Stickley family and friends. Im sorry for your loss.
Thank I lassha
I was confused thank you. Also, is Bri a sister?

So incredibly sorry for the loss of this young man. I can’t imagine...and I hope to God I never have to. Prayers for peace and comfort for his loved ones.
I can't even imagine the mom having to do CPR on her child. Her baby.. omg my heart goes out to them ❤😭
I can’t imagine. A woman losing her partner and another losing her son. This is so heartbreaking.
I’m from Australia, I don’t know these people but as a mother this made me cry. I’m so very so for your families loss.
Reagan Kole Exactly!
Probably the shock of waking up all of a sudden and not knowing what's going on doesn't help
May they all rest easy

omg, i’m so sorry for your loss, may they all rest in peace❤️🙏🏼

The Elijah necklace gave it away, as in a rememberance necklace. God Bless the Family
I'm so sorry this happend RIP ELI 🙏🙏🙏
My wife lost her brother when she was 9 and he was 15. He was hit and killed on his motorcycle on the way to high school by a lady who was speeding. One of our grandsons is named after him. This kind of loss will affect the family forever. There will always be an empty chair at Christmas dinner. It is so hard and those who haven't suffered a loss like this are truly blessed that they will never feel this kind of pain. RIP Danny Joe 1949-1964
So sorry for your loss he had a whole life ahead of him
I can't imagine the pain involved when dealing with the loss of your child.. I lost my husband and that was an amazing tremendous loss but a child, that takes strength that I'm not sure I have..
Best Big Ten documentary ever
yepppppp
The one on Brook Berringer is amazing as well.
Rip Eli. God bless your family and everyone impacted by the loss of Eli.
How's your mom?
@@jasmeinsmith1884 Thank you so much xx
the stickleys live about 20 min from me in a neighboring school district. the fact that this video came up on my recommendations is crazy to me. lots of my friends were impacted by him and i pray for his friends and family who suffered his passing.
rachael moeller
I’m getting married in Oct and my fiancées last name is Stickley. 💔💔💔
I feel like if we followed our gut more and actually went through with what our body was telling us, we would save ourselves from so much heartache. I can’t imagine what this family must feel every day, I pray for them all.
❤️
Miss Meliss this is very true
@@seadragon1456 GOOD!!! I'm glad to hear it😊😊😊 stay safe out there Krista...
My heart goes out to his Family and Friends and Coaches and everyone that knew him!

Car accidents are so scary. I had one in 2017 and it was definitely the worst day of my life
R.I.P to that young lad. Learn CPR as you never know when you may need it and it could save someones life.
I went to Zoombezi Bay in Columbus with Eli. I was 6 and he was like 15. Eli was the man
When I was 16 I ended up going off a steep ditch and I knew within a split second not to over correct cuz I knew my car would flip and that quick decision probably saved my life, so I just went with the car and ended up just going through a bad wire fence and it was okay. It’s hard cuz most would think turning the wheel quickly before would correct it but unfortunately it won’t.
I'm glad your alive
@@karsonlee3913 me and my mun had been in a car accident I bang my head on the dashboard and my mum bang her just on the stering wheel
As the aunt of an angel, I feel your pain. Prayers for you all.
That may have actually been her spirit talking to him and holding his hand
I think they do that to ease the Families pain about them suffering
What a legend Tom Brands is always there for his kids on the mat and off the mat
Am I the only one that got confused half way through but then still cried at the end 😭
I lost my aunt to a car crash recently and its hard there will be days where I will feel alone
💔
Goose awe sorry about your dad
@@smudge1820
Thank you,
It's crazy because it's been almost 20 years, but at times things will take me back to how things felt the night it happened.
I think things will always be that way though. I'm so thankful I had the Father I did, I just wish I had him a bit longer in my life.

So I try and keeping myself free from that thought and pray that my heart will get better someday! I pray that just like I pray for my heart to heal I pray the same for this family and I hope that someday the pain will get bettter and that God grant them strength! I've been in a car accident as well so I'm always telling friends and family to please drive safe! Which includes no phone at hand, texting, personal distractions, keep your eyes peeled and please never drink and drive!!! I don't care what issues you/they may have when picking up your/their phone while driving just please keep your hands free and eyes on the road at all times! Within seconds an accident can happen so please drive safe and stay safe! 💕
I watched the documentary. I wrestled in highschool and JC and know the The camaraderie and the closeness of the wrestling family. This brought me to tears. Black and Gold forever.
Lost a great friend in a very similar manner on November 22 2019, died on impact, alone on his way to work. My heart bleeds for your family and friends
RIP your friend, I lost my grandmother on 10.12.2019, she passed away peacefully in her sleep aged 83 (1936-2019)
I remember this accident... I live in Nebraska and this story 💔 me! I'm sorry for the loss of the family and friends who knew and loved him! I lost my oldest son and no parent should ever this pain!

My heart and sympathy goes out to everyone this affected.
My family has had to go through many losses.
I’m so so sorry that you had to endure this pain. Prayers

My cousin died suddenly 10 years ago and my aunt did CPR on her for a little while before paramedics showed.. she has been extremely depressed ever since. She has said a few times that one cannot simply do CPR on their child and ever be okay again. So heartbreaking
this is so devastating. sending my prayers❤️
My heart is broken. God bless this beautiful family. I am so sorry for your loss & this pain you’ve had to endure 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🙏🙏🙏🙏
RIP ELI....my prayers🙏🏻💔 to his family & friends during this very sad & tragic times in their lives
I so very sorry for your tragic loss. May he rest in peace.
Melissa Leigh my heart breaks for him being stolen. I can relate to the trauma and ptsd
May he Rest In Peace. I’m so sorry.

wow. my prayers are with the family ✊🏾❤️
When I was 17 our driver rolled the car 3 times, we all lived, thank God..no one wore seatbelts, 1978.
So sad. And so very tragic. Rest in Heaven Eli. Many prayers for the families.
Often happens when we are at a happy point in our lives very tragic.

This takes me back to the night my Father died and my Mother didn't want to tell me because they were out of town when it happened.

The worst thing somebody can ever tell you.

Deepest Sincerest Condolences 💐 and Comforting Prayers 🙏🏼 for Eli’s Family
There is nothing more horrifying than that call that there's been an accident and it's bad. My call came a few years ago. My brother, sister, close cousin, and friend were in a bad crash. They couldn't tell us if they were alive. So we drove 30 miles with all the worst thoughts. Passed the crashed truck on the way, with the roof cut off where they had to extricate them. They were lucky. They all had serious injuries but recovered. Scariest day of my life but we got them back. I feel so bad for people that don't get their loved one back.
What a tragedy. So sorry for their loss
My heart goes out to this family.but it blows my mind how anyone could thumbs down this story..
God Bless everyone who was involved in the accident truly devastating
