I would pick Yaris Hybrid, I think its way better technology then small turbo engines which can be unreliable and shaky at idle, also they have strange vibration and noise, like diesel and they have turbo lag. Also Kia 1.0 tend to overheat so keep your eye on temp. Their average engine life is around 200.000 km, Toyota is bullet proof. Auto transmission of Kia cant compete with marvel of technology ecvt (reliability, maintanance, efficiency). Also fuel consumption of Kia will be average 6.5 L/100 (www.spritmonitor.de/en/overview/23-Kia/214-Rio.html?fueltype=2&constyear_s=2018&power_s=74&power_e=75) and Yaris Hybrid will have 4.2 L/100 average (old model has 4.8 l/100 average on that same site where users post their fuel consumption stats www.spritmonitor.de/en/evaluation/economic_models.html ) . Also there is environmental factor and CO2 emission which are important for our planet. Why would you buy city car without electric power I really dont know and understand. Driving in Yaris is quiter then in Rio also handling is much better. Cant compare these cars, Yaris is one step higher but is also a bit pricier.

  • @jay-uo2bi

If the top spec Yaris hybrid was within $2500 of the Rio then I would definitely take the Yaris, but here, the price difference is fairly substantial and when considering the non-hybrid model, the Rio has the better powertrain. Generally I don't like Toyota's interior and exterior design, here they actually did a great job with the interior, it looks modern and fresh but not cheap or boring. Just wish Toyota did away with their rubbish tiny infotainment screens with big bezels etc but the Rio looks has the much more handsome exterior.

Something about the Yaris screams cheap. Mat Watson shook the side panels of the car. The Rio just something about it just a shouts that it looks a lot larger and more sporty so I’d get that. Plus in the UK you cannot get the Yaris as a manual gearbox so the Rio wins for me.
Then again the auto Yaris would be perfect for young people because they can put be fucked to push the clutch to change gear.

Buy a Kia you get to go on holiday for a few weeks. Buy a Toyota, a weekend break is all you can afford thats the difference. Resale valve on a 5 or 10 year toyota thats got x amount of kms on the clock, i'll take a brand new kia anytime. Drive it for 10 years thats a far better deal. who cares about resale valve when you know the car is just worth scrap.

over priced for what it is the Rio Gt Line.I almost bought one $24500 after discounts and on roads were factored into as a replacement for my now written off Holden Spark 2017 model but the financing fell through coupled with the dealership not letting me using the same company I did for the previous car making me use their bank.i ended up getting a 2008 Mazda 3 Maxx from Easy Auto 123 for 30% once we factored in alarms and on roads less the deposit less than this same amount of airbags but get this none of this dual clutch automatic rubbish,a proper size small car(after what happened to the Spark I refuse to drive anything smaller than say Corolla/Impreza/3/Civic class cars)2.0l four cylinder none turbo 108kw so plenty of power to escape in an emergency and if I need any parts I can use a wrecker for the most part. One would be insane to look at any of the new age light cars.even a later anything than mine in the next class if you shop around carefully makes more sense. An Insurance Pay Out paid for the Spark's replacement with some change to spare. It was driving a Rental Astra from Right2Drive that prompted me to stay away from baby hatches at all costs not just for my own safety but also peace of mind.
