Well Andy, next time you weld a bung in a tank. put a 15'" piece of pipe in the bung, it will show show if you are straight or not, and you can hang on to it while you are welding it in place. and when you are cutting a hole in the tank weld a 3/8" bolt on the piece you are cutting out, hang on to the bolt, cut the hole and you won't drop it in the tank, just saying!!!!!!!
I used to cut off the end of a 1/2 inch pipe nipple, screw something on to the threads to protect them and weld one nipple near the bottom of the tank and one on the top. Do an air test on each weld to check for leaks then drill a 3/16 hole through the tank wall at the fittings and add elbows, valves and the plastic tubing. That way I never had to cut a hole into the tank. the drill pulls the chips out and the small hole means the liquid doesn't leak as fast if the tubing is damaged. The larger ie tubing used, the easier it is to see.
I learned about fuel expansion. I had a landscape business and when I started I filled all my equipment to the brim every morning. My 2 cycle handheld stuff was a booger to get started until someone told me about fuel expansion.
Turn the 90’s horizontal add your valves and two more 90’s looking up and down and add the tube. You could get a piece of clear sch 80 pvc tubing as a shield for the gauge tube and add a couple of brackets to the tank to hold the clear pvc . Amazon has clear pvc in stock.
Dear Andy You can purchase weld spray or anti-spatter gel to put on threads and areas you don't want weld spatter to attach? Also, you could can run a tap through the threads and clean any spatter or True up the threads. Love, YOUR RUclips Viewers
Interesting remodeling. I guess MAS had different ideas about convenience of the fill port, and didn't think about the gauge. Or wanted too much $ to get it OEM.
stick a magnet on the bottom of the tank and hold anything farm and Metel to the magnet in the tank. It'll hold it in one place with the magnet being stuck to the bottom side of the tank just a thought. Just a thought
And thus continues the age old discussion about cutting and welding on diesel fuel tanks. Gasoline has a much lower flash point but diesel has much more energy when ignited
You can actually put a fire OUT with diesel, if done correctly. I'm pretty sure Andy has worked on enough stuff to know what can happen. Probably why he is doing it and nobody else. I knew a guy who TIG welded an aluminum tank that was full of diesel. No, it didn't even boil, let alone anything else.
From time-to-time, I see you welding on fuel tanks. And since the rarely blow up, :) I assume you're flooding the tanks with CO2, or some other inert gas, ... but you never mention that aspect of the process.
Back in the 60's and 70's, I can remember our underground fuel tank (gasoline), was around 1,000 gallons. All of our tractors were gas, with our "Big Horse" being an Oliver 1850 gas wide-front. Now, farmers pull around mobile fuel trailers with 1,000 gallon tanks.
You could make your tank out of plexiglass and check it from the next county!😂 I was being funny but then I thought of vehicles that actually have plastic gas tanks and then I thought of all the chemical tanks on a farm made out of opaque plastic? Feasible or not?🤔
It's bad on. Mas part not puting a sight glass on it especially a new tank .you want to know what's in the tank before you start travelling miles away.. perhaps mas might start and put somethinnk on there tanks now after seeing you .Andy .
With your talent you could built a bigger tank maybe 1500 gallon, or extension on that trailer add 5 feet and one more axle. You and the girls could do it.
You should have just put a clock gauge on there. I have one on my fuel tank with no problems that always tells me what’s in there. If I read 12:30 I know I have 6” in there . If I read 1:45 I know I have 1’ 9” in there. No cutting, chopping, and grinding. 12:00 is 0 inches. The small hand is feet and the large hand is inches. It’s fun to fabricate stuff but in this case absolutely not necessary. Check into clock gauges next time.
Have you ever looked into a Thunder Creek Fuel Trailer? I was also wondering if you think this trailer would be a better fit for a farming operation such as yours?
Don't nothing piss me off more than someone emptying a fuel tank and not saying nothing or someone getting fuel out of the tank on your truck then you start fueling up and run out yeah I get it
Some good additions to the fuel trailer 👌
Great show,Thanks
That's a handy upgrade to the fuel tank ⛽Great job 👍
Hi Andy !
Good job !
That fuel trailer will friendly user now .
Thanks Andy for your time and have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
Great video Andy. Maybe next time let Sarah weld the bungs in so you won’t have any pin holes.😂😂
Would it be better to grind around pilot holes? Thanks andy Florida Joe

An 'angle iron' welded vertically adjacent to the new sight tube would offer some protection from accidental damage. Good looking work!
That would be a good idea.
Thanks for sharing Andy.
Nice upgrades to the fuel tank.

Great video.. Hopefully MAS is watching and taking notes from real world changes needed.

Hi you no what you are doing with machinery, Andy credit to you always good videos, keep showing us am from UK
Did you think of using a sight gauge ball inside your tube to make it a little easier to spot the fuel level 👍👍
No it is easy to see the fuel
And yet you make it look so easy .
Andy surprised the mas fuel trailer dose not come with a site glass 👍🚜
Another good one Andy Thanks for the video's 🐄🚜🇺🇲👍
Good job Andy. I see Caz got bought out. Hope nothing changes with all you do with them !
Agpro buy Caz???
@@jaygraham5407 Some company called SN Partners
You have plenty of experience and confidence in yourself to do a job like this. Nice looking.
Wonder how Ol Silver tongue likes Andy's improvements on his design.

Nice....yes, add the flatbar when you get the opportunity....because when you least expect it.....
I think a sight gauge is the only way to go. Good job , Andy
You can drop a magnet in the tank. ( It probably already has one.) It will catch any metal before it gets to the pump.
This is the best RUclips channel! Love the vids!
Interesting remodeling. I guess MAS had different ideas about convenience of the fill port, and didn't think about the gauge. Or wanted too much $ to get it OEM.
And Bang Bang... Joe. Love you longtime. . . 2 dollar no hollar

We were in a drought for 2 years but this year nothing but rain. Just this afternoon and almost evening we have had 2 inches of rain and more to come.
What region? We were
As well mid mid west will tr State area Illinois Missouri Iowa.
Thanks Andy

Great upgrades.
Great work on the upgrades! Thanks for the vid!
Hi Andy and everyone from northwest Missouri I wonder how many comments you going to get over wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time lol 🤣🤣🤣
Why didn't it come with one?
why not two 90 degree fittings with furled ends and soft clear tubing? Just my two cents worth, because I've done the same on a large hydraulic tank
This is soft tubing
Good video. Thanks
Well getter done thanks for videos
I think one of the daughters should of welded the threaded bungs on so they won't leak!😂😂
Can't wait for these comments 😮😮
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO ANDY 😊
For all the "experts "you could take a magnet on a stick to collect all the metal debris
I don't call them critics, I call them crickets...
Sometimes I just want to say that you know what works for you.
Good work Andy! Trump 2024!!!
welding on a tank that's had fuel in it? KABLOOY!!

I welded a fill port in the top of an under ground fuel that was fuel of diesel fuel
diesel needs a high combustion pressure to ignite, no issues with welding tanks
What’s your favorite welding helmet?
I enjoyed your farming show and I hate DEP for diesel engines,I'll catch ya on the next one. 😊
Hey Andy could you use clear flexible tubing instead of hard tubing
That’s what I used was flexible tubing
From time-to-time, I see you welding on fuel tanks. And since the rarely blow up, :) I assume you're flooding the tanks with CO2, or some other inert gas, ... but you never mention that aspect of the process.
I’m not allowed to give out that information

stupid I know, but every time you weld I avert my eyes. Lmao
Like the directness,I really liked your short about no passing zones.
Relax,it's 16 miles an hour,not Titanic.
Never mind lol I just didn’t watch long enough great job my friend. Hope you’re having better luck
Andy, does no one make a level device that has an App linked to your cell phone? If not, I am sure you could devise and patent a one.
It's bad on. Mas part not puting a sight glass on it especially a new tank .you want to know what's in the tank before you start travelling miles away.. perhaps mas might start and put somethinnk on there tanks now after seeing you .Andy .
Did you take the fuel out before you started cutting and welding ? ( its a joke - its a joke people lol )
There was some still in it
Andy you spent a lot of money on this trailer. They do make trailers with more capacity, site glasses and fuel inlets in proper place.
Hey, where can I get that flashlight and belt clip that you have on?

How many gallons of fuel does that tank hold Andy?
1000 gallons I think is what he said.
Where was the Kaboom? There was supposed to be ab earth shattering Kaboom!
With your talent you could built a bigger tank maybe 1500 gallon, or extension on that trailer add 5 feet and one more axle. You and the girls could do it.
999 gallon is the max for road tanks like that
Heh, heh, heh. He said “BUNGHOLE!” Eh, Butthead!
Way don’t you remove the slag when your welding?
Where was the slag?
He did just fine without any of your suggestions

How much does it hold?
990 approximately now tha he’s moved the filler neck
Have you ever looked into a Thunder Creek Fuel Trailer? I was also wondering if you think this trailer would be a better fit for a farming operation such as yours?
Thunder creek are sure a lot more refined
Yeah I’ve looked into those
There is always a douche bag that shuts the ball valve on the sight glass, it will happen to you. We had it happen, shut down 10 emergency generators.
Don't nothing piss me off more than someone emptying a fuel tank and not saying nothing or someone getting fuel out of the tank on your truck then you start fueling up and run out yeah I get it
Bang .. bang
👍
For your guage I mean
PRETTY STUPID OV THE MANUFACTURER DIDNT INSTALL A DESENT FUEL LEVEL INDACATOR
I just saw president Obama asking for money on your little TV show
MAS trailer is just not very well designed. Lots of misses that would be obvious to anyone who ever used a fuel trailer even once.
Andy. . . Would you stop bitching about bungs.... I AM CORNHOLIO AND I NEED TP FOR MY BUNGHOLE.
P.s. you could be like Chris
Thanks Andy
