Subscribe to RetroRalphLIVE here: bit.ly/3eRRQ9x Follow-Up: On Blanka's stage I compared the scrolling to my original Street Fighter Arcade machine and there's for sure something not right. The game plays fine but the scrolling has almost an escalator effect. It's hard to describe but I will try to post a follow-up video so people can see it. In the meantime, I'm going to reach out to them and see if this is something they can resolve with a firmware update.
Could anyone tell me if the graphics and game play are more "finely tuned" as in comparison to others on the Raspberry Pi 3b+? I got a Retropie and for classics on MAME like Donkey Kong/Jr/Mario Bros some audio is absent from the game. If you can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm very new to this and any advice from any experienced gamer would be most appreciated.
The instructions are in English as well as Japanese, you just have to open it and turn it over. But not worth the money. 10 games is lacking very hard. Overall unit is fantastic but it needs more games. Add in STA series and the VS series and I’m all in.
I got mine yesterday. I love it. I was totally caught off-guard by the quality of everything. I'm going love it even more when someone eventually hacks it and lets me put all of the Capcom arcade classics on here.
How bad was the glare on the screen? Saw MLP do an unboxing on this. Curious to see if you notice anything with the emulation. Watching while typing this. :)
In Street Fighter 2 world warrior I noticed the scrolling was a little weird but I'm going to compare it to my "OG full size" Street Fighter to double check. I heard others say something similar. Under normal lighting conditions the glare is minimal. Under the lights in my studio you get a little bit due to how close and bright they are. Thanks for watching by the way, much appreciated!
@@b.o.353 I just checked, it's almost like the floor is moving like an escalator on the Retro Station. I mean it's for sure NOT how the original scrolls, maybe we can inform them and they can issue a patch. Thanks for the heads up man, much appreciated.
@@RetroRalph one of the reviews on Amazon Jpn review mentions the timing (it’s translated so not sure if that means lag or frames). Shipping is murder on this too but expected since it’s a big box. Thanks for ordering this and doing the video, AND checking with your original hardware.
Me too, it's a really cool idea and with the screen they used, it totally gives off the CRT vibe. I hope all is well man, haven't seen you around for a bit.
@@RetroRalph so weird. I do get sound and HDMI output, but the screen is just white. I assume the data cable for the display came loose during shipping. I tried to open the thing but didn’t succeed so I’m sending it back 😞
@@RetroRalph are you planning to open yours? I think there’s a screw underneath the sticker at the bottom and there might be additional screws underneath the rubber feet.
I don't know if anyone saw this, but MLP posted on Twitter that his Retro Station broke! This is what he wrote.."Yesterday I received this and did a video. thought it was neat but expensive for only having 10 games, with 4 of them being Street Fighter II variants. Well, none of that matters as now the unit won't power on anymore... just my luck..." Also saw someone else posting on these videos about how their Retro Station freezes at a white screen. Now I'm much more weary to buy this (even though it does look awesome).
Well, I appreciate you letting me know. I will let everyone know if anything happens with it. So far so good though... 🤞🏻 Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
@@RetroRalph You got it, my man! Glad things have been smooth sailing for you. Hopefully, it's not a widespread problem. Just wanted to let everyone know as that's a pretty big massive issue since it's not a cheap system and everyone has to import it as well.
seems super cool especially that killer sound! I just dont' know if i have room in the budget for it (have an a1up ms. pac-man I'm debating on modding at some point) but cool if you don't already own something like that already.
someone tell sega this would be great for a street of rage mini cab.rage 1-4 & the included soundtrack.it would be a great follow up for the next astro city mini
lots of good with this. I just wish there were better games. Street fighter is starting to get stale. I am very sorry to say that since it is one of my fav fighting games. All these SF games have been released in multiple platforms recently. They need to put more variety. Should have at least as many games as the neo geo mini for $200. I would prefer this package, but with neo geo games like metal slug...etc. would be perfect. If they would just add some of the capcom cps1 beatemups and shmups this would be way better. Love the form factor.
It's time to mod the joystick and buttons Ralph and I think it's a cool fighting game device and I will buy one for sure. I wish they had these back in the day so that way I wouldn't have wasted my quarters in the arcades. lol :)
@@RetroRalph That's true too and also we wouldn't be arcade collectors and that hobby is fun and i'm glad I started that when I was young. :) Just imagine if someone told us back then that in the year 2018 we would have mini arcades to buy at stores, we wouldn't believe it so i'm glad they create stuff like this because it is unique and cool to have.
You totally nailed it… the niche Capcom fanbase would love to have this as long as they have the shelf space to show it off. As for me, I need something more mini than this to make my collection. Thank you for helping me decide if this is the right purchase for me @retroralph !
Hope the chinese will knock this off and give us more games. The aesthetics, screen, size, and performance of it is perfect. It is just too little games to justify the price. I would be happy if all the Capcom 2d fighters and Neo geo classic games are on it. Not interested in NES/SNES for this specific form factor. More interested in arcade games.
To me this a collectible so it’s not meant for everyone and it’s priced as such. It’s actually quite impressive and playable but I get that the value may not be there for everyone. Thanks for watching!
Looks a great device with that bubble CRT like screen but the game selection is naff (unless you love street fighter or megaman). Better with a more diverse selection.

The "ears" - they are trying to make the screen look like Megaman's helmet. You didn't get that?
Slightly ex, cost USD $226 in Singapore!
Very cool arcadecabs in the background! Greetings from bavaria😀
I’d love something like this dressed up in a Midway cab 😏
With blitz
Your the best! Any new content?
Nice I want one.. The link is for ordering in Japan nothing for the USA yet, how you get it??
I ordered from Amazon Japan. 👍🏻
What's the end of video song?

What camera and light do you use? It looks amazing
Does the generic Xbox controller work?
Rockman and Bass is a Japan only SNES game.
I still find it odd how the original street fighter 2 has emulation issues with the background scrolling
Check my follow-up notes in the comments section, thanks for watching and appreciate the heads up.

Right?!!? It's surprisingly playable for a mini console.
What version of coin ops is the best may 2021? Vertical?better pc or get coin ops x and a atgames pro
Wish I could give this to myself back in 1993...along with stock options in Google, Amazon, FB & Apple. This looks worth picking up.
😂 I know it’s hard to believe but we didn’t have Facebook, Google, or Amazon in 1993.

Street fighter 2 champion edition on Sega Genesis was my jam back in the day!
Heck yeah man! 🤘🏻 Thanks for watching!
Yesss, please do a tear down. Maybe get with ETA and do a collaboration.
Will it be possible to hack the bugger
I wonder if you could mod it with a Rpie?
If someone figures out how to mod it make sure no one tells John D. from arcade1up or he'll ruin everyone's fun and shut it down too.
I'd rather have more arcade games than Mega man, as awesome as Mega man is.
I would love for someone to make that bubble crt looking plastic over the screen on an arcade1up

If running a pi, there is a pretty decent crt rounded edge shader

Unboxing are the best! It brings enjoyment and adds hype and greatly brings on all the FOMO!!!
Lol Ralph got excited on the tilt 😂👍🏽
I can’t help myself, I’m like a little kid. 🙈

It looks like something that could reside in the Fallout universe.
Totally 💯
The back looks like Mega Man's head. 😁. Cool device.
I think that’s what it’s supposed to be. 🤷🏼♂️
God I love me some Descoteaux!
And the Tron name is interesting since there's a character in the Mega Man Universe known as Tron Bonne
yeah would be interesting to see the insides to this fella! maybe it can be.. changed to have more games?

The graphical glitches on Street Fighter 2 are shocking!

Think an android phone and a hori arcade stick is a better investment.
The ergonomics looks frickin' awful on this thing.

No way to battery power it......*Laughing in Modder*
