Sir if there is more than one primary objective, how to choose the sample size ?

Calculate with the most important objective. Or calculate for both, and take the maximum value..

Sir am going phd research in diabetic patients..and this is pre and post study.i hve 2 grp 1 grp in whch i have to give metformin and 2 grp in which i hv to give metformin with vit D..nd test vit D having role to decrease glucose level in Diabetic pt....so sir what would b the sample size for my study..kindly rply..

In this study, you are comparing the effect of vit d with metf and met alone.. not vit d alone.
As I said in the video,
Step 1. Be clear with your objective..
Step 2. In this case it's mean difference between two groups..
Step 3. You can apply the formula given in video.
Or you can use your clincalc site which you have tried. Where it allows you to adjust alpha and beta errors. So that you can modify your required sample size.

As i have used clincalc.com for calculation my sample size on the basis of previous article..is unthentic or not..kindly rply

For your study, if glucose levels is your outcome, then mean difference between two groups formula can be used.

Hi Irfan khan, sample size is what you decide. Neither the formula nor online calculators decide it. You adjust the errors..if you keep it big and allow more errors, sample size will be less.. my advice is to go with a sample size not less than the reference studies unless it's reduction is justified in your setting..
      Hopefully I clarified your query..
Feel free to ask your further queries..
      Thanks for watching the video..

@@SPMResearchwithDrRockBritto sir as i hv used clincalc. For my study nd total smple size is 182 divided into two grps as i said.for using this clincalc anybody can objection or not

@@irfankhan5726 if you are okay with that sample size, you can go ahead. No body can object for clinicalc site. You can mention the alpha and beta error level you allowed in calculating sample size with formula if needed..
