Hi Jerod, I noticed something interesting with my Lenovo Legion 5 (RTX 3060, Ryzen 7 5800H). After installing a second NVMe SSD, I found that my GPU dropped to PCIe x8 Gen 3 instead of x16 Gen 4 (max supported). I monitored this using NVIDIA Control Panel and GPU-Z. From what I understand, this might be due to PCIe lane sharing between the GPU and the SSD, even though the Ryzen 7 5800H supports 16 PCIe lanes. Does this mean all laptops with CPUs supporting 16 PCIe lanes or less could face the same issue when adding NVMe SSDs(That would be disastrous)? Also, could you test if running a GPU like the RTX 3060 at PCIe x8 Gen 3 has any real-world performance impact in gaming? Thanks for your great content!

Hey @JarrodsTech, as a previous video of yours comparing performance of 4000 series GPU at different power have suggested that for an RTX4050 running at 60W only loses ~10% of performance compared to a full powered one, does that meant that the RTX4050 version of this laptop may not be that bad?

Hi Jarrod, I was looking for a gaming laptop under $700 and was wondering which one to buy, the LOQ R7-7435HS or the LEGION 5i i7-13650HX model. Is it worth paying another $250 for LEGION 5i? I wonder if there is no big difference between cooling and noise.
Hey Jarrod, I noticed you haven’t reviewed the loq 2024 with the i7 14700HX and rtx 4060 Is it the same case as the 7435hs which is an avoid or is it actually good? Thinking about getting one
So I saw a lot of guys complaining for mobo dying 1week/2 months after purchase, only with the hx versions. I bought one 13650hx with rtx4060 and 24 ram 2 months ago, fabricated in july 15th and no problems at all tbh. I m scared of what could happen. Ps i saw that most of the times on the guys from india so i don't know. It is resolved or what should i do??
I highly believe the main reason LOQ has branch out a LOQ E, because "cheap" LOQ are too costly/expensive to keep the chassis design without cutting corners while using specs as low as RTX2050. at least this version will not have higher 4060 variant, Lenovo purposely release this version to fight the budget market. If you wonder this concept actually goes way back to Lenovo ideapad L340 timeline where they couldn't release any cheaper Legion models. WHAT surprised me what LOQ E did one good, they actually "perfected" the cooling that any ideapads ever dream of getting one fyi Acer have an even cheaper Aspire RTX2050 model but imo didn't cut away too many compared to the LOQ E
This is actually recommended on the Australian section of laptop gaming deals because you can get this one for $899aus right now. Is that still valid after this review?
Plastic chassis is fine, but why the hell is it so nerfed. Also if they're going to make it out of plastic. why not do something wild like make it translucent.

Could've been great if it was significantly cheaper than the original loq Would be a perfect first gaming laptop that doubles as a work laptop for someone But with how it's priced you're just better off getting the original model

This LOQ is too much sacrifice compared even to my Arc graphics powered one. With the risk of being flayed alive in these comments, I do have to say that the LOQ with the Intel Arc A530M served me quite well in my light gaming journey for over a year now. Mine performs about the same as an RTX 3050 with 4GB of VRAM, while, granted, in the first months of owning this laptop, optimisation sucked. And there is the downer of not being able to play some older games. But, luckily, i have a PC for that. This laptop was just a thing I needed for portability, nothing more.
After clicking onto this and seeing this version of LOQ, it's basically a spirited successor to the IdeaPad L340 Gaming from years ago. Oh Lenovo, you really confused us consumers.

Just get the original please. This thing is way worse. I won’t rant just get the original for a bit more so you don’t regret it. I can smell regret on this thing.
cant' wait for your CES 2025 laptop video
I have a small question, what is the tool/software you use to check the screen brightness in laptop panels? thank you
Is this the new Ideapad Gaming 3 or a worst one?
Well done to make a quick review and warn people about this cut-down version, that I'm sure many retailers will push as a regular LOQ 👍
LOQ essential build design its literally copied from old Ideapad series that I have
Some older ideapad series even have dual ram slot, hot swappable batteries, dual storage SATA and 2280 NVME literally 0 upgrade to those older ideapads
so i have a question i found LOQ Essential with Core i5-12450HX 8 Cores - 16GB DDR5 - 512GB SSD - RTX 4050 6GB is same price as LENOVO LOQ 15IAX9 83GS008NED Core i5-12450HX 8 Cores - 16GB DDR5 4800 - RTX 3050 6GB - 512GB SSD
so what is better to buy
Hi Jarrod, I was looking for a gaming laptop under $700 and was wondering which one to buy, the LOQ R7-7435HS or the LEGION 5i i7-13650HX model.
Is it worth paying another $250 for LEGION 5i?
I wonder if there is no big difference between cooling and noise.
Can you review razer laptop cooler pad and how they compare other cooler in the market.
Hey Jarrod, I noticed you haven’t reviewed the loq 2024 with the i7 14700HX and rtx 4060
Is it the same case as the 7435hs which is an avoid or is it actually good?
Thinking about getting one
So
I saw a lot of guys complaining for mobo dying 1week/2 months after purchase, only with the hx versions.
WHAT surprised me what LOQ E did one good, they actually "perfected" the cooling that any ideapads ever dream of getting one
fyi Acer have an even cheaper Aspire RTX2050 model but imo didn't cut away too many compared to the LOQ E
This is actually recommended on the Australian section of laptop gaming deals because you can get this one for $899aus right now. Is that still valid after this review?
Yes or it wouldn't be there. It's hard to beat at that price for the money relative to alternatives, just a case of knowing what you're getting.
Is this an ideapad rebrand?
hey, quick question, if my laptop from 2016 never had the battery changed, what odds that it will blow up in my sleep and burn down my flat?
Just remove it?
No worries. I have a lenovo y510p from 2013 with the battery still in. Everything is and works fine. 😂
As long as it's not inflated, you should be fine.
@@lostskull7467 I can't tell because the plastic chasis is so bent and everything is wobbly I had to clamp one side with a wrench
@@HandleIsNewAndBad the whole thing will fall apart
Do you mind to review MSI crosshair or sword?
Plastic chassis is fine, but why the hell is it so nerfed.
Also if they're going to make it out of plastic. why not do something wild like make it translucent.
The only thing I appreciate about this model is the non gamer aesthetic. Beyond that, I wouldn't ever buy it.
I have recently invested in a LOQ and had a mini heart attack reading the title
Jarrod, what was the fps in quiet mode in the games?
I just want mention not all lenovo loq(2024) is that wifi card like laptop you test. You test lower model, I got lenovo loq with 13650HX and RTX 4060 my version WIFI card is Intel AX203
Why is the GeekPro G5000 laptop very similar to the LOQ laptop?
hi, i have the lenovo legion 5 pro and adaptive refresh rate on my laptop does not work for a while, fn + r works thankfully, but i need a solution for this problem, thanks in advance.
Does loq has motherboard dead issue or display dead issue?
Please someone respond
Im wanting to buy but i saw many complaints on Reddit loq has problems
Could've been great if it was significantly cheaper than the original loq
Would be a perfect first gaming laptop that doubles as a work laptop for someone
But with how it's priced you're just better off getting the original model
This LOQ brings back us to *2018* times , *price* *Skimping* methods used by all manufacturers.
Can you compare the Acer Nitro V 16 (RTX 4050, Ryzen 7) and the Lenovo LOQ (RTX 4050, Core i5)?
Please do a review of the Eluctronics RP-15 G2.
my msi thin gf63 is really up there in upgradability and i didnt even know it
ma men, which one do you recommend... asus rog strix g16 or acer predator neo 16 ?. i am planning to use it for 3D modeling, animation and video editing , both RTX4060, i9, 32gb and 1tb. i need your help here
Did they just removed the ideapad logo and added LOQ on this, Why Lonovo is doing this.
This laptop was just a thing I needed for portability, nothing more.
both Lenovos we bought, had to be serviced after a year with cooling issues. Pro7i and Slim 5
You either got extremely unlucky which is improbable or you are dumb and use it in bed or sumn.
After clicking onto this and seeing this version of LOQ, it's basically a spirited successor to the IdeaPad L340 Gaming from years ago. Oh Lenovo, you really confused us consumers.
This is basically an office PC chassis LOL
Yeah but this one still have way better cooling than most non gaming laptop expecially budget ones
Great video Jarrod
Support from India
I have a question when you do power scaling test to gpu how do you control gpu TDP
I have an msi laptop please tell is there any way to manually adjust gpu TDP in 10w increments like you do in your videos
Is this better than HP Omen 16 with a RTX 4060 and I7 13th gen?
Huh? 62W-72W for the A530M? Odd, mine is 65W-95W. That's what Intel said in their websites
Can you help, Should I get 4050 loq essential or 3050 6gb original loq?
Can anybody tell me where can I buy upgrade parts for it??
jarrod i dont understand but my helios neo 16 i9 4070 lasted on 80% 4hours watching videos only
How much does it cost
@ 1500$
@@1ltic well don't compare then
Hi Jarrod's Tech
