At 11:45 scammers send out 150 thousands messages per week. Even if spread out over a hundred sim cards, that's 15 thousand per sim/week. The carriers should use AI to recognize patterns, it's usually the same text with slight variations. smh
Also a guy by the name of : Jim Browning is like THEEE Expert on Scams... has been featured for turning the tables on them at times gaining access to the cameras in a scam call center...
We do personal cyber security training as part of my job. It amazes me how exposed people make themselves. Just a piece of advice. Don't use your name on your voicemail message. Not only do the scammers have your phone number, they now have your name.
Idiots post absolutely everything on social media. They turn social media into a confessional. With AI it is now possible to clone a person's image, voice and even personality through psychographic analysis of their posts.
Well, that would be difficult especially for small business owners who would like to use their voice on voicemail to connect with their customers. Scammers can get your voice by simply calling you and when answer for 3 seconds they got you. The best protection is being constantly vigilant, and never-ever accept any offers by a phone call. If interested in something, I go and search for it myself, don't need anyone's offer.
phones have ability to block non ppl in your phone book. block countries outside your country. never use full name on sign ups etc. done. also remove links in emails and use color color coded work emails bc if ppl acting as co worker and not blue uh ya.
Never open unsolicited emails, and never cooperate with unsolicited phone calls. Always verify using contact info you have on file and not from the email or phone call. Never invest money with someone you really don't know. Keep yourself isolated when it comes to sending money or giving personal info. If you want to invest money visit a local brokerage or the bank you are dealing with. Never invest or send money to somewhere you have no idea about. Best to NOT trusting anything is your best defense.
You can't get scammed simply by opening an email. In any case, using plain old Gmail, I hardly ever see any scam emails, as they all go into my junk folder.
For the "Hi mum" scam, always call the person back on their original number. The fraudster will try to discourage this or say the number is out of order. They will often respond "your oldest child" when you ask "who is this?". I know it seems obvious although people do respond with "hi (child's name), giving the fraudster their child's name.
This is why phone numbers are becoming bad technology. No one can answer their phones anymore because we never know who’s a scammer unless they’re saved in our phone. It’s so weird. I get calls all the time that sound like I might need to take it but because it’s impossible to tell I have to just not answer.
Lemme tell you something, phone No's## can be spoofed. Say for example, if your number is 1 2 3 4 5 6, I can spoof your No##. Which means I can call any1 using this software called "Eyebeam" & it will display yr No## P.s: Look it up on Google where this Software "Eyebeam" is used to spoof No#'s Technology has gotten way out of hands tbh.
N I'm not talking out of the Blue or what I've just Heard, m talking with Experience as an X scammer myself. I use to work for a Compy that was operating scam at an Extremely Large scale. Large meaning generating Revenue of Millions of $$ in a single month, with only 55 to 60 agents, in a CallCenter located in Pakistan.
A while ago I was getting texts about a toll I hadn’t paid. There are no toll roads in Tasmania. I took screen shots and attempted to load them onto the ASIC scam reporting form. I'm reasonably tech savvy, and it was impossible. Where am I supposed to go to report these buggers????
Much respect for the ABC for supporting this young creator. He is awesome at what he does. We are all lucky and privileged to have him. Degogo thank you for all your hard work, congratulations on your deal with the ABC.
Regarding phishing scams related to bank or crypto fraud, anytime you could get notifications that require action like clicking on a link and logging in your bank info to some copycat phishing site or receiving a call that requires an SMS passcode…the best action you can do is inaction. There is a much larger chance it is an attempt to scam you instead of your account genuinely being vulnerable.
Every single scammer should be jailed for life if they get caught. To make a deterrent for others. It has to be one of the most disgusting crimes on earth.
You missed the hardware scam done by amd, intel and nvidia, especially on laptops. AMD started the trend of selling 1-3 generation old CPU's under the latest CPU naming convention, tricking people into buying older CPU's thinking they bought new ones. Intel followed suite. Nvidia, intel and AMD artificially limit their laptop parts for no reason other than greed. And they restrict more tuning access so you cannot make them run cooler and faster. OEM's also do this. Even phone OEM's don't allow you to install custom roms on your phone so you can extend its lifespan and still get updates. Its all just taking away control from you so these companies can rip you off There's a lot more shady scams these companies run and I don't see anyone cover this. Infact, its so underhanded that techtubers and right to repair channels like louis rossmann don't even understand this restriction to your control over your own device. And thus they defend or ignore this issue. Hope you ACTUALLY cover this. Because nobody else is doing it. And its a very serious issue.
Hot tip: if someone rings you claiming to be from a company, and they ask to have access to your computer or phone, and ask you to pay a fee with gift cards. Hang the phone up, and google the company, go on their website and get their number and call them. They will tell you that you are being scammed.
1 minute 25 second into this video I got another scam call. This has got to end. I can’t not answer my phone as business owner as it could be a customer. This is enough to drive me completely insane.
I would never do business on line. I live the old fashioned way . I look at a computer or phone to watch news but I do not use Facebook or put anypersonal information on line.😢
I'm curious how the bureau collecting the scamming statistics. In particular, I wonder if there is a tendency for Gen Z to not report they've been scammed (either because they're not sure who to report it to or din't want to admit they've been scammed).
What is annoying is a threat of smart appliances being used as back doors. Now it means you need an Internet Of Things secured network that is fire-walled in both directions to stop the machine from sending data back to a data collecting server.
Fun fact: Cellular companies have the tech to verify the actual called ID when it's being spoofed, they're just cheap! I'm not sure about other governments, but the Canadian government put a deadline for this in like 2022, yet only one of the big 3 has it currently (and barely at that, not even their subsidiaries have it).
Another fun fact: The biggest sources of these data leaks at least in Canada come from the government itself. During COVID times they accidentally leaked every single person's name, email, and basic health information that registered to get the vaccine. Oops.
If someone says they have been locked out of their bank account, send more money to it and then advise them to go to the bank and have the issue sorted in person
Put an online debit block on your main bank account. If you need to access that money you go into the bank branch. Keep a smaller amount in your online accessible account.
Yea, once I got a call that my daughter was kidnapped, I don't have a daughter, but if I had, that is the kind of things that some gobernments and the police don't consider when they just cash their checks, scratch their bellies and do so little about those scams that you can get the account number and the name of the scammer and they will still refuse to investigate.
After watching something like this it's easy to say that technology is evil. However, people need to keep perspective. We can't forget to look at all that technology does in modernity. It also helps in not only fighting these types of evils, but helps us navigate complex problems to find solutions. Examples of technology being a net good is in the medical field, eg ultra sounds and AI monitoring systems and devices; Developing better agriculture, eg GM foods leading to higher crop yields; Online learning from proper universities for cheaper rates or for free. My point is that the majority of people seem to think that the world is going to hell in a hand-basket. When the true numbers show that the world as a whole is getting better. This false outlook is mainly because the news mostly reports bad news not good news. So it's important to take account of everything technology is being used for before we throw the baby out with the bathwater. -hope this helps
Well, when trouble comes and children want to know who to blame, all 3 of you raise your hands. Ryan might be the worst with his corporate flag waving whereas Wendy and Sheila believe in buzzword AI without understanding that that is not yet ready technology being Marketed as the newest new thing. Some might call that hype, others; corporate theft.
@arcanondrum6543 What corporation that I'm flag waving for owns "technology?" Your response is designed to just start descent instead of adding to the conversation. Feel free to chime back in when you have something useful to add.
Who wants a super-valuable business idea!?!?! Come up with a software program that warns of or protects you from AI voice or image cloning! I would sign up immediately.
I think this video may be more helpful if the narrator slowed down! Of course, there will be a small percentage of people who would say that the speed of narration is fine, but I think most viewers would agree that it's too fast.
theres something about DaGogo voice that while hes very informative and very intriguing topics the voice of DaGogo are very calming as it is a trusting voice, and you DaGogo totally blew it with not doing a COLDFUSION based podcast bsed on topics or how you make the videos THE BEHIND THE SCENES that why your podcast was NOT sucessful, just try to 360 your podcast and i guarantee view AS YOUR CODFUSION AUDIENCE IS HUNGRY for intriguyung material, as doing a podcast not based on coldfuion chnnels bones ands structure was a MISTAKE
Tip of the iceberg really, even 2FA is not safe. Personally I don't want the world to go cashless, because it is too easy to have everything taken. As veritasium showed how even with just a phone number (no clicking on links or anything), it was possible to take control of someones phone. Thx AI for making the world an even more untrusted experience
I'm gen X and I've never been scammed, its virtually impossible to scam me, it would be easier to just bruit force an account, but that can happen too anyone.
1:48 Feedback only. The data in this graph is a little old, and does not match the date ranges of other data you are quoting. Inflationary effects have been significant enough that conclusions drawn from then until now may have a lower confidence level. The age ranges in this graph, do not correspond with the generally accepted labels given to generations. I.e. it doesn't make sense quoting gen x, gen y, etc. Suggest quoting age ranges rather than generation names. Because that's the data you have in front of you.
Answer: "Spoofing". A physical phone isn't needed -> 11:30 and a phone number does not yet need to be activated. The "hack" is to fool your device into displaying a false phone number. That can be done at several stages, either only on your phone or before a call reaches your phone.
Ever wonder if these reported "h4cking" incident from companies or entity, is actually them having the personal sensitive data being sold to third party and getting away with it? Hmm,... Just a thought 🤔

Dagogo is a no no
lol he get more than 10x views from his main channel, ABC is dying lol, tv is dead.
Wow! A partnership with ABC? Way to rise. ❤
It definitely feels like scams are waaayyyyy more prevalent
A lot of them go unreported because the person that was scammed is too embarrassed to come forward.

They cast a wide net, hoping to capture something.
Report ??? Lol, its robots send 1 million msgs in hope 1000 people fall for it, forget report, just be defensive
Everyone gets those. Also the Australia Post messages. No one is interested in getting reports on these scams. Ignore all messages like that.
Great work Dagogo.

Hello from a ColdFusion Sub...
Hello!
Keep your elders off the internet. Especially if they're prone to dementia. Instruct them to always call you if they receive dubious calls or texts.
I'm curious how the bureau collecting the scamming statistics. In particular, I wonder if there is a tendency for Gen Z to not report they've been scammed (either because they're not sure who to report it to or din't want to admit they've been scammed).

1:19 "..strongly accented man asking you to use gift cards.."
Somehow hearing "strongly accented" makes me think of a certain nationality
as long as there are data brokers, there will be scammers.
Scams are too easy to spot for me lol
COLDFUSION!!!!
1:35 "$1.2 trillion in 2022 up almost 100% from $55.3 billion in 2021" is that math correct?
my man has made it to the big leagues, dagogo can show you how it's meant to be done!
Put an online debit block on your main bank account. If you need to access that money you go into the bank branch. Keep a smaller amount in your online accessible account.
major issue is safety online and another factor which i cannot disclose now but all with users not others.

Don't ever have money on line because thereis so much evil in the world nowadays.
What i don't understand is how such ' educated ' individuals could fall for tricks they're apparently so knowledgeable to avoid.
And people wonder why I hate all this AI stuff, technology is evil, " says I using a computer"
Right there with ya'!

Indian number one in scams
Great content

Whenever a technology becomes available, you can always trust people to make the worst of it first.
This happened to me. They were very slick and very convincing. At the end when the guy asked me to ROUTE MY call to him, the story fell apart.
I hate when people say “O” for the number “zero.”
❤❤❤❤❤❤
In the uk my mobile network is o2. Lol. I always say zero but my father always say his phone number double o four etc etc.
Not a 007 fan then?
I hate when people say they hate things
Its something people under 30 will never ever understand.
I think this video may be more helpful if the narrator slowed down! Of course, there will be a small percentage of people who would say that the speed of narration is fine, but I think most viewers would agree that it's too fast.
Go to the bank. Cellphones are not phones. They are computers.
why not shut down all those apps using deepfake videos and audios.. simple as that.
If only it was....courts constitution.... Etc

was Lab host created in Canada?
I recommend all old people stay off social media to be safe because they are a soft target and you want to be hard so do it.

In Australia you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a mobile phone number.
How are these people getting 100s of local numbers?

Myself, I’m tired of getting emails from “Geek Squad” and “Norton” on apparent orders placed. I just delete them but they’re annoying.
Does anyone know the IRS had a breach? My SS# was stolen while transmitting from Turbo Tax to the IRS
nobody will beat the abandoned PRINCE OF NIGERIA scam.
Some people are too stupid to be scammed
11:13 "Sydney" men... riiiight. We all know what that really means. 🤥
"strongly accented". 😅
glad i don't publish my voice to internet...
2 x 55 billion is not 1 trillion+
Why would a good computer scientist take a legal job if he can earn much more with illegal activities ?
Because not driven by money to the exclusion of morals?
BELIEVE ME, MOSTLY GREEDY PEOPLE FALLS FOR SCAMS.
Like pensioners? Because they target the elderly.
Employment scams on Facebook are way more evil than presented in this series.
ABC finally gave up trying to compete. About 5 years too late.
Indian
Trash partnership
Nah that was the viet cong 😢
Lol, Elon Musk himself is the biggest scamer
Is it me or does this video sound AI generated?
It’s not. Cold fusion is a large RUclips channel that has always sounded like this well before AI was any good at voice generation
Tom whats his name who goes everywhere isnt real using that logic hee hee ..
7:21 "or widow slash widower". are you for real? can you be more lazy than reading a script? or is your voice also an AI?
How much did the ABC pay for this paid content?
Other way round buddy. The ABC received funds from the contributor. The contributor does good work. Perhaps consider being grateful. Have a nice day.
This is all old news from over 5 years ago, why are you reposting the same topic? Shame on you! Just to gain likes and views?!
Society has a 2 minute memory.....lmao....
