This really works. Tried around 200 trades on a choppy asset and its a winner, by a lot. Thats without even using the last two indicators. I imagine the results will be even better on a trending market with all four indicators. Thanks a lot, man!
Which timeframe did you use?
@@ryanschmid9945tested it on 1 hour, 4 hours and 6 hours time frames. What I did different, however, is I changed the EMA to 9, not 20. On a 20 EMA I got bad results. I was only testing Bitcoin during February - December period, a lot of sideways action, choppy period. So maybe 20 MA is good if the asstet is clearly trending, but for choppy times - not good. Also, tested the 200 MA and the divergences (the last 2 indicators)... They make things worse. I think the 2 initial indicators work best for Bitcoin in that period time, just to stress that out.

Thank you for your amazing videos. I have written many pine editor scripts that are very successful in the strategy tester. I will of course spend 3-6 months to validate them and before start trading them with real money. I just want to know how to optimize strategy parameters. Which steps do you usually do when you have a new strategy and you want to make it better. Does it make sense for example to test different input parameters for the indicator that my strategy is based on and get the optimal results in the strategy tester as a parameter for the indicators in the strategy? Can this be specified for each traded asset? If yes how much and how far can we go and how can I validate an entirely new set of parameters for a specific indicator. I wish you make a video in which you explain the different approaches you have in mind to create/fix/optimize a strategy.

Great content big fan of your works... I think the strategy works well with the 1hrs time frame...how I combined a double super trend indicator the first was set to default while the second was set to 20 and 5....then I optimised it by adding a 200 moving average and 20 moving average....I only enter short when the two super tend has shown sell and 20 ma Crosses below the 200 ma as a golden cross but I also wait untill the price has pull back to the 20 ma before entering for short I do it vice versa for long trade too...I tested it and it gave me a fantastic result really nice I really wish u could do a vid on what I have just said🙏... because what I have just said will fall in the top 10 spot in your spreadsheet thank you

I used the same settings as you did and looks good. I've been using on lower time frames. I'm guessing you didn't set your 200 ma to the daily setting, so it stays closer to the 20 ma? I used the 200ema, but without changing the chart setting to daily. Tradepro 200 ema daily setting tends to not allow many crossover opportunities. The pull back is the key.

look for a guy called Traders Reality
All the strategies on RUclips work very well when tested in a past chart, no offense. However in real time, the signals can change at the end of candle closing and hence can't predict the trend as per shown in tutorials. I would request you to try to genuinely replay the chart, (a feature in trading view) that will accurately tell whether the strategy actually works by replaying the candles in past chart. That would be a genuine strategy. Thanks 👍
Question what is setting stoploss in the nearest swing high or swing low mean?

you recognise the pullbacks how? The candlesticks/wicks cross the MA but what do you use as confirmation for a trade? only passing 20MA? strond green or red candlestick price-action?

This is awesome, easy to use and understand and quiet powerfull with risk to reward.
I love it on the 4hr timeframe as you can scalp with this strategy easier without the neeed for lower time frames.

Nice video. I see the chart is a 4hr time frame. any suggestions as far as an EMA for a shorter time frame, say 10 mins referring to the 200 EMA on a daily setting? Maybe a 200 on an hourly setting?
Still use the 20 (I prefer 21) ema set at what ever period you are trading. Then set the 200 4-6x the timeframe you are trading.
Just a query , shouldn't your entry be close of the pullback candle, in your explanation I can see you are drawing the entry on the low or high of the pull back candle

Maybe test it on the 5 min chart, only take trads if candle closes behind 20 EMA, use supertrend, 20 EMA and 200 EMA, my personal results are about 71,65% with a 1/1.5 RR

hey instead of a 4-hour timeframe do you believe it will work as well on a 1-hour timeframe.
All you need are trend lines breakouts, volume, and confirmation to the upside off the trend line. Waiting for a pullback to the trend line and confirmation after breaking out of a trend line is useful also.

Timeframe 4h, Supertrend, 200 EMA Daily, 20 EMA, didn't use the Stochastic
I looked back 14 months for these trades
EURUSD 42 Trades, 21W,21L 21% GOA
USDJPY 41 Trades, 20W,21L 19% GOA
AUDUSD 43 Trades, 22W,21L 23% GOA
USDCHF 34 Trades, 14W,20L 8% GOA
NZDUSD 34 Trades 17W,17L 17% GOA
GBPUSD 48 Trades 22W,26L 18% GOA
USDCNH 48 Trades 19W,29L 10% GOA
USDCAD 32 Trades 9W,23L -5% GOA
Total 332 Trades, 144W, 178L(43.4%WR) 110% GOA in 14 months

Nice work. This is on 1:2 I take it? I found the winrate (obv) gets better with 1:1.5. Currently testing 1:1 and making adjustments like 1:1.5 or 1:2 for the first pullback in a new trend, later in the trend using 1:1 and even taking 75% profit out early in the trend at 1:2 and letting the rest ride.
@@tradepro yeah it's working well without the div's. Decided to use those later when optimizing. I find the stoch so laggy for this though. I'm also doing this on the lower tf of 24m.
You need to do both in-sample and out of sample backtesting to determine whether a strategy is good or not. Check out the Darwinex series on this

I happened across this yesterday afternoon. I applied it to SQQQ (using options) which just happened to be running today, twice. Made $1K total today - not bad at all. I'll take it!!!! Up 21% on the first trade and then 7% on the second trade in 19 minutes. I'm NOT a day trader at all - but a target of opportunity, I'll give it try.
Let me add here - I found that this approach provides some overall context to the current price action. I found it to be similar to riding a bike with some training wheels. I'm not proud - I'll ride with training wheels every day of the week, especially if I'm able to collect a grand a day.
Awesome I'm glad it can act like training wheels to help in the process. Recommend paper trading for a while first though!

A bearish divergence is when price is making higher highs and the stochastic is making lower highs... otherwise, good video. Intraday you could use the Ichimoku cloud and something better than a stochastic, like a WAE or QQE.

In my first year of learning trading I've gleaned a lot of good and discounted a lot of bad but am enjoying the journey.
A few things however are clear to me so far which are relevant here:
1) All trading systems must take volume into account which is absent here.
2) A value entry on any SuperTrend indicator is an oxymoron as you've always missed the pro entry for the market move. There are no exceptions to this. However, when you can't track the charts all day they're convenient for alerts!!
3) Most people put stop losses too far away. If the price fails to make a new swing high and then breaks the low of the reject candle which touched the EMA, exit the trade. Why stay in? All the momentum is against you. Same for shorts.
4) All the actual pro traders I've come across use a 1:1 RR because the entries and exits are highly optimised and trading is a scalable enterprise.. With experience this can then be managed with an offset trailing stop. As an aside pros hardly ever place market orders. I hate MT4 but there are EAs that can do this for you.
5) The strategy would benefit from stronger ABCD (Phase 1 or 2 etc) analysis starting on the higher time frame and then moving to lower to check for confluence. For example, you need to be able to exclude a long where the trigger position is below a recently rejected swing high. Instead wait for the price to cross that and then pullback. I'm finding Williams Fractals useful for that - you will see a lower fractal high than the previous one.
As others have suggested maybe do a follow-up testing 100 positions with different RRs.

With respect, I'd disagree with you a little...
1) Volume is certainly useful, and may be good to augment this strat, but more useful is identifying an actual trend to trade with (and I don't mean via an indicator). Trade this type of strat in ranging conditions and you're giving yourself more headaches than needed.
2) Not sure I'd agree here either. I don't trade like this exactly, but my entries on trend trades wouldn't be all that different (trend + pullback break + price action = usually around the 20ema to 50ema for an entry / usually also has some oscillator confluence).
3) Agree to a point. But that just requires some back testing with the above strat. If you're happy getting wicked out and missing a bigger move doing that then fine. It may lead to tighter stops and higher RR plays when it does work out for you. I think SuperTrend is ATR based in someway too, so not the worst kind of stop in my view (especially in FX or crypto land where you can calculate very exact consistent risk from your stop distance).
4) Couldn't disagree more on this. I trade 4-5 figure days regularly. I'd say I'm pretty good at trading (futures FYI). In ranges I'll trade lower RR plays sure, but trends are where I make most bank with higher RR plays (quite fond of tagging a few runner contracts onto SuperTrend to ride out a move in the right conditions actually).
5) Agree there would be ways to improve this. Really comes down to personal style though. For me, as I mentioned above, just throwing out ranging price action for this would improve it a lot (and that can be eyeballed easy enough based on HH, HL structures and looking left) but maybe fractals and ABCDs too, not my bag though. I would say though, that once you get more confident you find it easier to adapt and define your own style (strats, risk, conditions etc.). Equally though, big fan of keeping it simple. Not a price action purest but you can get really far with a few lines on a chart in my view...
Sorry, I disagree. A lot of pros don't use volume. They know how to the read the price action. They trade off patterns and use indicators to help them find the trend, cycles, and momentum. Once you stop watching all these strategies on RUclips and go learn to actually read the charts you'll be ahead of 95% of the traders. You'll be a pro. Then, you can come back watch videos like these to see if there's anything of value that can help you.

does it work for stocks... is the question? It seems forex has quite a bit more trend direction then stocks... stocks are always flipping all the back tests i've done recently just don't seem to be adding as much value as most trade styles on multiple channels use for forex.
