This is my truck. Bob went above and beyond trying to figure out what caused this. I continue to use all of his products on my stuff. If this isn’t customer service I don’t know what is! Thanks Bob and Chris! Still unsure to this day, I am assuming something on the paint previous. Bob don’t worry you’ll never see this one again we sold the truck!
@@danmonty1211 so i was thinking the same thing .. its a tree service so it could be tree sap , chainsaw oil , grease from mulcher or hydraulic fluid from the boom . next to a pole or cut a pole with creosote on it ?
@@ChemX Yes - you did, but more importantly you tested your process and your products on something really needing attention yet not so precious you couldn't make any mistakes with. Of course that relaxed approach bit you, putting you two steps back for one forward but still a step behind. That's part of the lesson, and the mettle it takes to see it through.
Bob... This is ABSOLUTELY why I respect you and your products. The time and attention you put into ensuring the quality of your cleaners and tools is exemplary! You treat your customers awesome and I'd never expect this experience from corporate goobers.
Clearly not a Stars & Stripes issue. You guys are great to help out anyway. By far the most transparent and honest bunch in the business. I'm just a weekend wash/detail guy, but I'm enjoying my Stars & Stripes kit. What you guys do for the community is great. Keep flying the flag with pride. Cheers.
Not gonna lie, I was just as worried sitting behind a screen for you. But you literally went above and beyond far more than I thought you needed to. Looked great in the end. Thankfully, they sold the truck, so no worries about that paint job, haha.
This video is the true definition of great customer service. Bob took his personal time to rectify the issue and that says a lot. Loved the video Bob. Keep up the great work. I'll be ordering some products soon for my upcoming detailing season next year.
Love and use all of your products bob!! And this continues to be the reason! The attention to detail is above and beyond what’s in the industry. Only thing I would make a mod too is the tire shine is a little too oily but I can’t wait to they the old glory!
I had this issue on a 1996 kenworth T600 that was white. It normally cleaned up decent but the paint was getting slightly chalky. I went to a DIY wash bay for RV’s. I sprayed the soap on the truck and rinsed it off without it drying. It did exactly this. The black soot became so hard I couldn’t ever wash it off it stained the paint. And then had these super clean streaks. I’ve tried to find the chemical that would do this and never could recreate it. Had to be something off the road or some weird mixing of chemicals in the porous chalky paint
34:12 😂 same here, I ran into something similar trying to make it right.. made it worse. But my respect for going far and beyond to figure out the problem and revitalizing it. Great content
ive been slowly transitioning out the previous brand ive been using to detail my vehicles to your products and this just drives it home. ive had issues with the other company, reached out with zero response. seeing a company fix a issue not even from their product is rare.
I have actually seen something similar using Cajun Brown from Cajun Kleen. It has a ph of 12 and if you leave it on paint, undiluted, and let it dry, it will make the paint come off. It’s a great cleaner if you dilute it right, but where i work they don’t. They have ruined several truck with it.
It was caused by single stage paint. I've had this happen to be several times using regular soap, dawn, PH balanced soap, doesn't matter. It's old oxidized dead paint, and the products eat that dead paint leaving those streaks. It's just old shit paint and it happens. Recently it happened to me on an airplane, had to compound it out to make it work.
I have a feeling brake clean would do paint damage. Not brakefluid itself. Brake clean is more hardcore cleaner. Spray some on your normal glasses. They will fog right up from it. It would do the same to paint.
@@ChemX Sorry it took so long. Cold weather started in California. Painting in a garage is bad during cold weather in the garage. Update on the paint damage. Break clean will damage paint and leave marks when whipped off. It left a streek from where it was whipped off. It looked identical on the tree truck. If left for to long it becomes just like acetone.
I sent an email to customer service a week or so ago asking about the importance of keeping separate cannons for different chemicals ( I don't think they understood my point completely); the idea being what would happen if you mixed Snake oil in your Stars cannon without rinsing it first for example. Could you trap Stars under the Snake oil and if so could that cause issues or the opposite would Stars kill Snake oils effectiveness. Thought it'd make a good video for you guys to test out; this video got me thinking maybe there was some sealer mixed in with their cleaner possibly?
I usually just rinse out the cannons between soaps, I’ve been curious about that myself as well but I’ve never been able to see any issues come up, even if I don’t rinse them out in between actually
@@ChemX I just color coded my cannons and bought one for each to be safe and cause I'm too lazy to rinse! Would be interesting to see what would happen mixing half and half Stars and Snake oil.... for science!
That’s an idea too, I do hear from a lot of customers who mix my stuff together, usually liquidx and mshine. Stars and Stripes are so opposite in ph that mixing them in equal quantities turns them to neutral ph, just seems to decrease performance by quite a bit tho
Did any Hydraulic lines blow on the boom or dump hoist? Hydraulic fluid is often hot when worked and may stain. Ruptures cause high pressure spray or mist. Just a thought.
Could it have been that they applied stars, went around the whole truck so it began to dry before they started applying stripes and then missed that sections with the stripes? So the stars sat without being neutralized by the stripes before trying to rinse it all off?
quick question... ive been watching your videos for a while and thinking about picking up wash and snake oil... can the snake oil be used with liquid-x? or will the polymers of the liquid-x affect the snake oil? or will it just be double dosing protectants?
I had a similar streak and drip marks on an aluminum from a poor acid wash chemical as I was going to polish it. It almost looks like someone had an acid wash or corrosion spray. Yes ik it’s not aluminum but still.
try brake clean looks like about a full cans worth of brake clean and certain types will eat paint. crc i know does in the green can even my paint on my tool box.
Those auction bucket trucks are scuffed and shot by truck flippers right over the rust , dirt, oil. They don’t even clean out the radiators or change the fuel filters. They just paint them (awfully) and tack on $15k-$20k and then tell you how they “fully serviced it”. They are only to be viewed from 50’ ft away. Don’t trouble yourself too much with that truck. Also that was sprayed with carb cleaner or something by one of the help goofing around I bet .
I would bet anything purple power was sprayed on there when it was actually dirty and caused this. I have had it do exactly what your showing when I have used it on equipment. But if you spray purple power on and hand wash then rinse before it starts to dry it doesn’t happen. So I would say it was sprayed on then rinsed.

Hey … I’m on the team and I watch your videos! 🎥📺🏆
0:42 this staining is caused by using too high of a PH spray, like a degreaser.

you can buy 2 part paint in spray paint for touch up. the activator in in bottom you puncture then have real nice paint.

It’s definitely not a you only thing but my best guess is it was an interaction issue between yours and whatever was on the paint

it has to be a paint issue, either it didn't have any clear on it or it had something sprayed on it at one time that ate the finish off the clear.
Hey brother, your soap caused my aluminum to streak, could you repaint my truck for me to see if that was my issue?
What color spray paint you want ?
I'm surprised you sprayed all that paint with no respirator.
I am done when you threw the shampoo bottles the whistling diesel style.
Maybe they had hard water or water with chemicals mixed with it
To me as somewhat looks like brake fluid got sprayed down the side or aluminum bright it just doesn’t look like The spray pattern foam dispenser
