Strikers not having sidekicks didnt completely ruin the game but it certainly made it a lot worse. The best part about wii strikers was how much individuality all the sidekicks had and their different charged up shots
I wouldn't say that sense it wasn't even the thing they were going for and could be worked into the new system if they wanted too. Honestly making everyone captains was probably the one change I call a improvement

To the point that if they make another one I don't want them to bring back the sidekick system it was a limit for the sake of limit and didn't allow for 4v4 like the new system it's the one thing I want form battle league to come back in the future
I would, personally, have the other minis (from "Mario VS Donkey Kong" and "Mini Mario & Friends") be alternate skins for Mini Mario, like Mini Luigi, Mini DK, Mini Pauline, ect. Overall, really cool video.

I heavily disagree with your roster. To me, I'd include just about everyone. Uneven be cursed. Who cares about unequal roster sizes. Roster is roster. Seeing Chain Chomp taking care of itself from a bigger one isn't an issue since we got Black Manta mirror matches where one Black Manta gets clobbered by a different Black Manta in a stage transition.
This roster is already unrealistically generous with how much we could probally ever expect too see let alone more lol. Thats like going to a smash roster prediction and saying "well id just add 200 characters"

There's just way too many pointless enemy characters on this roster... like no offense but the crab and the acorn squirrel are wasted slots... If I had to make DK's team I'd give him Diddy, Dixie, Funky, Tiny, Baby DK, Cranky, DK Junior and the last one would be someone still popular for DK Country history in Rambi which feels as a unique character. Also your Waluigi team was really whack... I'd put him with Baby Waluigi (I believe he exists and even if he doesn't Baby Rosalina and Baby Daisy were created specifically for spinoffs already), Whomp King and a regular Whomp (because Wario is linked to King Bob-omb so maybe King Whomp can start being linked to Waluigi), Ukiki, Clay and Ace from Mario Power Tennis (as a team that is separating Waluigi from Wario it makes sense to add in the only other two characters that were on the standard roster of the only game that featured Waluigi as a playabl character without Wario in Mario Tennis Power Tour), and the last one I'd say is Fawful which is definitely a weird one but it could create a dynamic in the storymode of how Waluigi is a little lost without Wario but stumble s into Fawful who serves as good (evil) company for him while he's away from Wario. If not that storyline then it could be something along the lines that Waluigi and Fawful have a history as allies of evil that we never knew (which could easily be orchestrated based on the Mario & Sonic Olympic Winter Games in 2010 when Waluigi was the only one to know about the secret room saying that he knows all)... and for DK's team you had, break King K Rool away and make him his own captain. Might not sound ideal but he could have four kritters on his team, the two different colored klaptraps from DK country, Gnawty and Army, all of which are mainstay enemies.... But my big issue is you kept putting way too many enemies that are entirely random. Nobody wants a team full of random, unpopular and weak enemies that maybe only appeared once prior so don't have an identity or familiarity in the series. I'd be happy to share my thoughts more with you on this because I also have a 16 team prediction list (that's not perfect by any means but doesn't feel out of place either).
While I will admit, this roster isn't realistic and has some flaws, this is still a fun sort of thought experiment! Roster building is really fun, and I feel that with some tweaks, this roster could probably be polished up and made much better as a hypothetical Mario Baseball roster that creates a well-balanced roster of classic mainstays and fresh new faces. Gooigi as a Luigi alt would be interesting and I definitely considered it, but I feel like there woulda been a bit of oversaturation with the Luigi's Mansion rep (2 characters instead of just 1? BLASPHEMY!) as I'm already stretching a bit with including E. Gadd in the first place so I decided to not include him here.
I don't see Mario's team having so many of Bowser's minions, his teams are usually made up of NPCs, like the Piantas. Luigi is usually is usually his Co-Captain. And does your version not have the chemistry mechanic? Also, there has been no announcement about a new Mario Baseball, just a rumor.
