Who the hell down-voted this video? I've been folk-art painting with craft store acrylics for years, but feeling creatively stifled when it comes to the effects I wish to achieve, based on sticking to what I've been taught. Having watched several of your videos, Ginger, I feel inspired to add some of your techniques to my skill set. I've always been able to intuitively mix my paint to match any color I wish to obtain, but watching this video has enabled me to understand the 'how' and 'why' and use much less paint. Thank you for posting these videos! Every one of them I've watched has provided me with valuable insight and tips that proves there are many techniques to achieve the same outcome. Looking forward to watching as many of your videos as I can and practicing what you've taught. Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
We have a couple of trolls who go around and give a thumbs down to every video I do... Sometime within minutes of posting. Not sure why.... So glad you enjoyed this one. I am doing some fun live shows 3 nights a week. Mon, tues, and Wed. 7:30 central time. Happy holidays, Ginger
Ginger so Nap Red is the red on the color wheel? Right? I have learned so much more from this video tonight than I have in three months on color! I finally get the gray scale and believe me you just saved me a small fortune. I am just making sure in my head that I am right on the reds. Thanks girl. lol lol
Thank you for the lesson, now I won't waste as much paint! lol! Can't wait for next weeks painting, it is amazing. Also, be safe in your travels Jon and Sammy, can't wait to hear you lol! :D

So do you tone those colors down with the raw umber, or use them as they are for these paintings?
I tone the color that is the compliment of the color I am toning down, or use burnt or raw umber as well.
