Ginger I have learned so much from your videos. I am just discovering I can draw and paint. Your videos have answered so many of my questions. Having a great teacher such as you has given me confidence to enjoy my newly discovered talents.
Thank you for sharing. I learned more from you in this Ginger Snap than a six week course of art lessons. I appreciate your time. I do believe it has much to do with the heart of the teacher.
Love your Ginger Snaps. As a new painter all these tips are invaluable. You don’t know what you don’t know and you are so great at telling us all the things that we need to learn as new artists. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing these videos on RUclips for free. I don't have a credit card or a lot of money at the moment, otherwise I would love to support you and Theartsherpa. Your efforts are much appreciated!
Thank you for writing and taking the time to comment. One thing you can do for both of us is share the videos we have on RUclips with friends and on Facebook..... writing nice feedback like this one, and letting people know we are here. Ginger
Thank you for the 10 most often made mistake tips new artists make, Ginger. I found it very useful and I will be following it up by watching your video on varnishing. I am also looking at photographs differently. I look and think of the under painting I would use for a photograph I am thinking of painting. I am looking at trees and clouds differently too. All have many colours, shades and values. I am learning a lot from you. Thank you, Ginger.
Thank you so much for all your tips. I have recently just started painting, following your daughter and now you, I am so happy that there are teachers like you to follow.
You do an excellent job, Ginger Cook! It´s a pleasure to see your lessons, you give lots of information that helps an utter beginner find his o her way to achieve wonderful results; you inspire, entertain and in general your are hilarious. Thank you so much!
So much great info! I really appreciate it when you add the typed in info like the 1-10 mistakes. It helps when we are watching it again and looking for a specific tip and even when it's the first time we are watching because it reinforces what you've said which makes it even easier to remember. Thanks Ginger.
I know that these videos are a lot of work. Thanks for all the extra time you put in and for adding the Monday night videos. I've never taken any art classes so I really learn a lot every time I watch one. Keeping the Ginger Cookie Crumbs videos online is very helpful because I can refer to the techniques and practice what I've learnt.
Thank you. I will often say these things in other videos but felt it might be helpful just to list them in an easy to remember format. I appreciate your taking the time to comment. Ginger
As a beginning artist, I'm happy to state that I do at least put all of my colors out, but about the other nine tips, especially using a pencil to draw - guilty as charged! That said, I paint in a folk/niave art style and in an abstract style. Colors having to be lighter in the background than in foreground doesn't always necessarily apply to those styles as it does for landscape art and still life paintings. Great helpful concise video! I just subscribed.
I've watched hundreds of these "tips" videos, and although they all have some value, this one is the 'pot of gold!' I've just discovered you thru your daughter, and am so looking forward to finding a tutorial to paint and learn from you!!!
Thanks so much Ginger!!! I have painted in oils and wanted to start acrylics to free myself up....I paint tight with photo realism. So much great information!!!!!!!
Gold underpainting made such a difference in a beach scene I just did ... my first ever! Thank you for sharing your valuable expertise. I'm definitely replaying this and taking copious notes.
Wow THANK YOU Ginger for all of this great information! You and your daughter are a huge inspiration to me and I can't thank y'all enough for everything you do! Have a beautiful blessed day!
I just shared this video with my sister. I think what we are going to do is each of us want to subscribe to your website and do your classes together but from our own homes. I think this will be a super fun way for her and I to paint and learn together but still be in our own homes. So we are going to see how we can get this done together through Web cam. Thank you again.
Thanks Peggy, I really appreciate the feedback too. My aim is to put up videos people who paint with acrylics will want to view. So if there is something you would enjoy seeing write me on the "Contact Us" page of my website. www.gingercooklive.gallery. Thanks Ginger.
Thank you I only started painting last fall and I am 60 but intuitively I have started painting the full canvas but then the actual painting is never where I think I am starting now I understand I was putting on an underpainting and didn't have a clue! I signed up for your on line membership today - though I love and appreciate your youtube work .... even if I just stay a member for a month or two I don't feel like I am eating at your buffet of knowledge and experience for free .... thank you
Thank you for becoming a member of our art academy. One of the things I think you will enjoy is being able to share your art work with me and getting back constructive helpful comments on how ot expand and improve your paintings. (an art coach by email) We have a section on our website called frequently asked questions, and I suggest you take a look at that. Members write in daily and I try to post things that come up often. Most of my students are over 50 as I think this is a time in life that allows for more freedom to focus on a new hobby. Our Technical director Jon Little is available to assist you should the need arise. You can watch the lessons on your IPad, computer, tablet, television and even your smart phone. Ginger Cook

Thanks Marty. I am glad this information found its way to you. RUclips is a vast ocean of information, and its wonderful when I can connect with artists who appreciate what I do. Ginger
Learn so much from you. I enjoy your tutorials so much!!!!!!!!! Lady in Red is one of my favorites. Please do more figures. Thank you for your great lessons.
I have a few figures on my Academy of Fine Acrylic art webpage. www.gingercooklive.gallery. A recent painting called "the photographer is one you may like. " It can be purchased separately or is included in a monthly subscription starting at $9.95 for nine days.
I really love these Ginger Snaps!! This one is great with so many different tips... my favorite one is to watch for bugs and flies and wind this afternoon when I am hoping to spray varnish several 16x20 canvases LOL As always Ginger I appreciate all that you (Jon and Sammy) do for our community.... :)
thanks, i never realized that i needed to do an under coat. thank you very much. my last painting i actually did that and it looks alot better than my last few. now i realize why. :)
I actually save old canvases of paintings I no longer love, and just paint over them as it is so much easier. I turn them upside down and start painting again. fun
Thank you so much Tina. Glad you are enjoying them. If you ever feel inspired to write me about topics you would like covered go to my website www.gingercooklive.gallery and use the "Contack Us" form. We appreciate hearing from our viewers. Ginger
Great Tips & Tricks especially for those of us who are just gaining all the knowledge before learning to paint! I really like the way you show how to use the color wheel properly. Thanks again for sharing a tad bit of your vast knowledge, it's very helpful. 🖒👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this helpful information Ms. Ginger😆 I love watching your videos. You are helping me so much through my Art Journey. Thanks again!! Can't wait for Mondays video🖌
So glad you found this helpful. I will be coming out with a new book soon with pictures and text which you might like. if interested just fill out news letter form on my website. and we will give a shout out in a month or two when it will be available.
Ginger Cook I will do that, thank you. At the moment I am working on some other tutorials of landscapes that I bought online. Your style of painting is very appeling to me ,so when i finished my landscapes, i will definitely take online lessons from your website. I love your paintings! :)
Hi Ginger, I am fairly new to your channel and I am really liking what I'm seeing. I've just started watching your videos backward, from the newest to the oldest. I've only watched a few and loved them. Anyway...I learned a lot of valuable information today. I now need to watch your video on varnishing because I am one of those people who used spray varnish. You have shown me the error of my ways. Lol. I also used to darken with black. I'll try to be no more of that but, old habits die hard you know. You are already making me a better painter. Thank you for that, and for sharing all that you do with us. Kathy B. (fairylady0227)
Thank You Ginger ! I have struggled with the grey colors for the back. This helped me so much. By the way, I have missed you and was so happy to see a posted video. You are an awesome teacher. thank you so much.
Thank you. Jon Little (the other tecnical half of Ginger Cook Live) had driven down from MIchigan to Houston last week to go to a RUclips 2 day thing here so we can make better videos. We took the week off, but will be back at it monday night 7:30 central LIve sharing how to paint flowers in a garden.... fun. Tues. we will be painting buildings, and Wed. some sort of animal. Now you know what no one else does out schedule for the week. LOL
I will watch and paint. :) I feel special knowing the schedule. ;) I am happy you all were able to spend time together and learning more on this journey you are on, it truly is a wonderful thing you are doing and much appreciated. I am enrolling in your class today. I have decided to do the monthly course. I'm excited. :)
thank you. we do live shows here on youtube Mon. 7:30 pm central time. and Tues. 7:30 pm central time. Hope you can catch a live show and say hi. Ginger
thank you, I am really pleased this has generated the positive responses from viewers. I will do videos in this series later this summer. Quick tips that are easy to remember. Thanks for taking the time to leave positive feedback.
Awesome, Ginger! Yes, I am learning great things for sure, thank you so much. I am on the search for the Liquitex Gloss Medium Varnish, I believe a local store would carry it. I made a list =) and took notes as you were demonstrating and will keep that close to my heart.
Small stuff can make a real difference. Thanks for writing and leaving positive feedback too. I love that you have been able to see an improvement in your artwork for these suggestions.
You put out so much of yourself, it is the least I can do. Showing appreciation for someone that enhances ones life should be a natural event.....like commenting! smiles
Wonderful tips Ginger! I am guilty of not always getting all the paint up on a plate, cause I have been afraid of them drying! But now I know better! ;) I have that Liquitex gloss medium and varnish! Love it! I think I found out about it from YOU actually so thank you! Have a lovely weekend!
Thank you Mona, Its very hot here today. up in the 90s so I look forward to some day traveling to cooler climates for the summer months... Jon headed back to Michigan today but was a huge help in getting things organized not just in my filming studio, but in my large classroom studio over our garage. So nice to have someone else with a new perspective look at a space and organize it differently. Ginger.
Oh my!! I can not stan that hot!!! I really get physical sick when it gets that hot! It's cloudy and 64 F here today!! Sooo nice!! Wish I could bottle up and send you some of the cool air lol Great that you got some help there from Jon!! :) If I am well enough tomorrow, I will for the first time in my life!!! Go to a vernissage! A small one at the local café! It will be paintings with landscapes and wild life from this area where I live! But I am a little under the weather today so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am better tomorrow!
Ginger thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative. I love the painting of the steps. Can we buy the instructional video or class. I can't find it on your website.
It will be released in a few weeks as a special purchase for non subscribers to my website and also as a featured weekly lesson in the library for members
Thank you Andrew. the idea was inspired by a daily email I get called " Likehack Daily "where all different list topics such as 10 things to motivate, or 5 things to make travel easier. All these short quick list topics to reduce stress or the ease of something. I thought it would be a quick way to help artists remember these essentials.
Thank you so much for these tips! I make all of those mistakes. lol But I am learning thanks to you. I hope to one day subscribe to your other lessons. My Husband is a vet and is trying to get help from them. The VA can be very slow with getting things done. So my funds are limited at this time. You are a magnificent artist. And a GREAT teacher. Biggest Hugs.
Hi Ginger, thank you so much for the tips. I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos. How do you know what color to use for an underpainting? Some photos I can figure out, but some that have a lot of foliage in the background confuses me. Lol. Thanks so much for all your videos!
trees and foliage backgrounds are painted dark dark green. if they are far back in the background with the sky showing through then its the sky color or sunset color. its the color underneath the colors
thank you, I am glad you found this helpful. I will probably make a second list sometime as I think it might be helpful to have more short explanations.
black can be very effective in a landscape. or mixed with yellow makes a very olive green or if you are painting something done 200 years ago and they used to make their colors... just depends. I rarely use it
Hi Ginger, I appreciated your reply, however what I'm having problem with is the paint is very thick, like just blending the sky or like in your "Translucent Ocean Wave on the beach" I could not get the wave color to blend to make the shadow, the brush doesn't seem to slide around like you did. It builds up and doesn't move around smoothly just gets dry like. I don't have a problem much mixing colors but just can't get to move as in your wave they want to streak. It does this even with a blending brush of any kind. Thanks Jo
fan fold a paper towel strip with 2 inches wide and about 6 folds deep long ways. wet and ring out and smooth around the edges of your pallet. put pain out on damp paper towel to stay moist.
Awesome. So glad this was helpful. thanks for writing and sharing your thoughts. I am alway interested in what people might want more art instruction on, so feel free to write me for ideas of videos you might enjoy. Use the Contact Us form on my website. http:www.gingercooklive.gallery

Sooo nice!! Wish I could bottle up and send you some of the cool air lol
Great that you got some help there from Jon!! :)
If I am well enough tomorrow, I will for the first time in my life!!! Go to a vernissage! A small one at the local café! It will be paintings with landscapes and wild life from this area where I live! But I am a little under the weather today so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am better tomorrow!
Very helpful, thanks.
Thank you, some how I missed your comment and wanted to thank your for making one. Positive feedback is the sugar in my coffee. Ginger
Ginger thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative. I love the painting of the steps. Can we buy the instructional video or class. I can't find it on your website.
It will be released in a few weeks as a special purchase for non subscribers to my website and also as a featured weekly lesson in the library for members
Thank you.
Big thanks. Please tell me, do you do the layering using only transparent paints? Thank you. Blessings
Oh not I layer every painting .
Great lesson! Thank you!!
Thank you Angela, Glad you liked it.
Excellent tips!!!!!
Thank you Andrew. the idea was inspired by a daily email I get called
" Likehack Daily "where all different list topics such as 10 things to motivate, or 5 things to make travel easier.
When you are able to take some on line lessons you qualify for the military discount of $19,95 a month.... Glad you find this video helpful. Ginger
+Ginger Cook thank you for clarifying that.
That was so helpful, thanks
Thanks Ginger great tips 🤗

great tips! thanks ginger😙
Thank you. I do have a question. When do you use black?. How would you use it.? Love you painting.
black can be very effective in a landscape. or mixed with yellow makes a very olive green or if you are painting something done 200 years ago and they used to make their colors... just depends. I rarely use it
Thank you.
Thanks again!
Very informative, I learned some new things. Thanks for making your Ginger-Snap videos/
