Berserk is an amazing story that has a level of depth and emotional impact that's hard to put into words. But you and your wife have managed to summarize Berserk and articulate the feelings it evokes just enough to make new people want to read the manga, and that's truly amazing :)

Adding onto Guts being grounded to the real world, in his first fight with Zodd during the Golden Age, he says "It can't be real, monsters like this can't exist" which just further proves his grounding in the real world.
The editing is this is amazing! The music combined with the script and how ever panel flows in and out blends and mixes so well. Really great job both Leeli and "Her Husband". The comparisons to Narcissus are amazing, again maybe conscious to Miura or unconscious or a mix. What amazes me even more is how far Berserk's influence goes. It's influenced media that people who view that media may not even know of Berserk.
Fantastic music that sounds just enough like a restrained Susumu Hirasawa track to evoke all the right feelings for a piece exploring Berserk, while still maintaining Sid's own style. Very nice. :)
This video led me down a rabbit hole of berserk essays and inadvertently got me to watch the 97 anime and the golden age movies. My favorite video essays on berserk.
I just want to say how glad i was to see you've uploaded again, i watched your older videos years ago before the hiatus and your writing, structure, editing, composition, and narrative are so compelling to me that your videos emotionally resonate so well in arts that i love. Thank you for your videos genuinely, they all manage to really pull something out of me when analyzing media that means so much to me.
If you think about it it's crazy that Miura still has time to do any chapters when he is reading Guin Saga, the longest published fiction series by a single author ever, with 145 novels.
Rereading his work after his death since its been a while since I was a young teen first encountering it, something I would NEVER normally do. But wow, these little details and references are incredible. Thank you for this interesting art history based perspective on such an amazing work of art and literature.

As someone who loves surrealist art, this was a treat. While I've seen some of the anime, I wasn't as familiar with the manga, so I liked how you tied the artistic side directly into the story like that. That said, I should read the manga; some of those panels are just jaw-dropping. Thank you, Sid and Sid's wife!
Berserk is definitely one of the waking series for many manga readers with how it tackles many now tropey and stereotypical themes. There's a lot of things to unpack in the manga, but its artistic parallels to the real world were never something I realized. Very fresh perspective on the art and Berserk's influences as opposed to its influencees.
If you're going to go along the path of anime and manga, I'd like to recommend Vagabond next, a manga about a roaming swordsman seeking to become invincible under the sun. It's sold over 82 million copies worldwide, and while maybe does not have as many real world connections as Berserk (with one huge exception which I won't spoil), it still has some very very interesting philosophical and ethical topics that it tackles and I'd love to see your take on it.
As a person who LOVES Paintings and Berserk , I must say this was an amazing watch! This video ironicly, by showcasing the art of Miura and Dali , became Art itself! I hope u never take this down, because I will be showing it to my fellow art colleagues and Berserk Buddies!! :D

This video must have been an insane amount of work! I can't even imagine. Much kudos to Leeli, super interesting and I learned a lot -- I have been following Berserk for 15 years and something like this just doesn't come up.
The episode is well made and extremely well-edited. Stylization works great for it. I'm more into the gaming themes, but even hearing your voice makes it worth watching. I'm glad you made a video on a common interest with your wife. That's wholesome.

Suddenly I'm very interested seeing surreal art
The first time i watched Berserk i couldn't sleep for weeks! Afterwards i grew up to basicly fall in love with it. A fascinating work of art.
This is legit academic level work, not even kidding. I mean, reading through Berserk I caught some nod here and there like the Escher staircase (impossible to miss really) and Bosch's hell, but this is just on another level.
Also shout-out to your wife, and your god tier editing and everything else really. Im assuming the thumbnail and musical arrangements are your work as well, which is mind boggling!
Btw, short PSA to anyone who decides to start reading the series after this video, it can become a bit "psychologically tiresome". While I think that Berserk is one of the few works that decides that it is going to build itself on the raw basis of human nature aka violence and sex, and taking that to the extreme, while still being meaningful and using that to frame other aspects of the human experience, be warned, which is to say, take some breaks in between instead of reading the whole thing in a couple of days like I did hehe
If you aren't sure you wanna commit, try the 97 adaptation, which is probably the better one, at least in the animation department.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, havent talked to anyone about berserk in a while hahaha

I tend to have a hard time analysing wokrs of fiction that I enjoy in such a deep and meaningfull way but your videos shine a new light on them that make me love them even more or make realize some things I never thought about or make me reflect on them.
You could make a video describing clouds passing outside your window, and I'd still watch it a couple of times for your soft voice and insightful commentary. Keep on keeping on.

Miura Kentaro is truly a master in his own right. Some of his manga panels & paintings should really be in a museum imo.

Seriously one of the best videos that I have seen, as a long-time fan of yours I had been wondering if, and how if you did, cover Berserk.
Suffice to say you didn't just not disappoint. You nailed it fantastically. As others have said, many other content creators focus on the plot/themes and references thereof, whereas you are the only content creator that I know that covers the artistic references that inspired Berserk, not what references other properties/media have taken from Berserk.

I've only started reading Berserk recently and I'm buying the (so-called) deluxe editions from Dark Horse so I'm not yet familiar with the whole story. This is so good
